AREA
3 DEFINITION OF AREA OF RECTANGLE

• Area of rectangle is the region occupied by a rectangle within its

four sides or boundaries.
• The area of a rectangle depends on its sides.
• Basically, the formula for area is equal to the product of length
and breadth of the rectangle.
4 FORMULA OF RECTANGLE

Area of Rectangle is l xb

Area Of Rectangle = its length times breadth

4 CM
Area = 4 cm x 5 cm = 20 cm

5 DEFINITION OF AREA OF SQUARE

• The area of a square is equal to (side) × (side) square units.

• For example, The area of a square with each side 8 feet long is 8 × 8 or 64
square feet (ft2).
6 FORMULA OF SQUARE

• Area of Square is S x S
• Area of Square is = Side x Side

5 CM
• Area is 5 x 5= 25 cm

7 EXTRA POINTS FOR AREA

• Circle :- Area of a circle is the

region occupied by the circle in a two-dimensional
plane. It can be determined easily using a formula, A = πr2, (Pi r-squared) where r
is the radius of the circle. The unit of area is the square unit, such as m2, cm2,
etc. Area of Circle = πr2 or πd2/4, square units. where π = 22/7 or 3.14.
• Triangle:- To find a triangle's area, use the formula area = 1/2 * base * height.
The area of a triangle is defined as the total region that is enclosed by the three
sides of any particular triangle. Basically, it is equal to half of the base times
height, i.e. A = 1/2 × b × h.

PERIMETER
9 DEFINITION OF PERIMETER OF RECTANGLE

• The perimeter (P) of a rectangle is the total length of all the

sides of the rectangle. Since the opposite sides of a rectangle are
equal,
• a rectangle has two equal lengths and two equal widths.
• The formula for the perimeter of a rectangle is given below:
Perimeter = length + length + width + width.
10 PERIMETER OF RECTANGLE

• Perimeter of Rectangle is 2 x ( l + b)

4 cm
Perimeter = 2 ( 4 x 7 )
= 2 x 21 = 42 cm 7 cm
11 DEFINITION OF PERIMETER OF SQUARE

• The perimeter of a square is the total length of all the sides of

the square. Hence, we can find the perimeter of a square by
adding all its four sides
• . All the sides of a square are equal.
• So, the perimeter of a square is calculated by adding the side of
a square four times.
12 PERIMETER OF SQUARE

Perimeter of Square = 4 x S

5 cm
Perimeter = 5 x 4 = 20 cm
