Statement of Purpose
Introduction
My name is Syed Touqeer Ali, and I aspire to become a skilled professional in the field of Artificial Intelligence
(AI). With a strong foundation in education and hands-on experience in IT, I am committed to advancing my
career by gaining expertise in AI technologies. The MSc Artificial Intelligence program at the University of
Lincoln offers the perfect platform to deepen my understanding and contribute to this rapidly evolving field.
Educational Background
My educational journey demonstrates perseverance and adaptability. I completed my Secondary School Certificate
in 2013 under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Gujranwala, achieving 601 out of 1050 marks. I
further pursued a Diploma of Associate Engineering from the Punjab Board of Technical Education Lahore,
completing it with 63% marks in 2016. Expanding my academic scope, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil
Engineering from 2016 to 2020, securing 64% marks.
While my undergraduate degree focused on civil engineering, my inclination toward technology led me to explore
avenues beyond my core field. The analytical skills developed during my engineering studies have laid a solid
foundation for my transition into AI, as both fields emphasize problem-solving, precision, and innovative thinking.
Professional Experience
Since completing my degree, I have been working as an IT Support Officer at Sequel Technologies in Islamabad.
This role has provided me with significant exposure to technological systems, troubleshooting, and managing IT
infrastructure. My responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving technical issues, optimizing system
performance, and ensuring seamless operations within the organization.
Although my academic background is in civil engineering, my professional experience in IT has been pivotal in
sparking my interest in Artificial Intelligence. During my tenure, I encountered challenges that required
implementing algorithmic thinking and exploring data-driven solutions, reinforcing my desire to formalize my
knowledge in AI and related technologies.
My transition from civil engineering to IT revealed the transformative potential of AI in solving complex real-
world problems. AI’s applications in big data analytics, image processing, and neural networks resonate with my
interests and align with the skills I have begun to cultivate. This realization drives me to acquire advanced
knowledge in AI, enabling me to contribute effectively to its diverse applications.
Modules such as Advanced Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and Modelling, and Computer Vision excite
me, as they focus on cutting-edge technologies that are crucial for addressing contemporary challenges. The
comprehensive curriculum will allow me to explore AI's theoretical foundations while gaining practical expertise,
bridging the gap between my current experience and future aspirations.
The University of Lincoln stands out for its commitment to innovative teaching and research. Its MSc Artificial
Intelligence program offers a robust curriculum that integrates fundamental theories with practical applications.
The inclusion of modules like Frontiers of Machine Learning and Computer Vision Research and Neural
Computing demonstrates the program’s forward-thinking approach, preparing students for advancements in AI
technology.
Furthermore, the university's modern facilities and industry connections provide an ideal environment for
academic and professional growth. I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to collaborate with expert faculty
and peers from diverse backgrounds, fostering a dynamic learning experience.
The United Kingdom is globally recognized for its excellence in higher education, offering programs that
emphasize research, innovation, and practical applications. While Pakistan has made strides in education, it lacks
the infrastructure and specialized programs needed to excel in a field as dynamic as Artificial Intelligence.
Studying in the UK will expose me to cutting-edge technologies and industry practices that are not readily
accessible in my home country. The multicultural environment will also broaden my perspective, enhancing my
ability to work on global AI challenges. Upon returning to Pakistan, I aim to leverage this international exposure to
contribute to the growth of AI in my country.
Upon completing the MSc in Artificial Intelligence, my goal is to return to Pakistan and contribute to its
burgeoning tech industry. I plan to secure a position as a Machine Learning Engineer or AI Specialist in a leading
organization, with an anticipated starting salary of PKR 200,000 to 300,000 per month.
In this role, I aim to develop AI-driven solutions for industries such as healthcare, education, and agriculture,
addressing critical issues like resource optimization and accessibility. By sharing my knowledge and fostering
innovation, I hope to inspire others to embrace AI, ultimately contributing to Pakistan’s technological
advancement.
Conclusion
The MSc Artificial Intelligence program at the University of Lincoln represents a pivotal step toward achieving my
aspirations. My diverse background in engineering, IT experience, and passion for technology uniquely position
me to excel in this program. I am confident that the knowledge and skills gained during my studies will enable me
to make meaningful contributions to the field of AI and to Pakistan’s development in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Syed Touqeer Ali
