Statement of Purpose

Entering Computer Science after my higher secondary education, I aimed for a career aligned with my
passion for challenges and mathematics. Pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering,
my journey involved delving into concepts of the virtual world and facing challenges in IoT and
Machine Learning. This hands-on experience fueled my passion, driving me toward a Master's in
Computer Science. My enthusiasm lies in exploring intricate paths within IoT and Machine Learning
to contribute meaningfully to the field.

It's an exciting time for me, as I'm eager to embark on an advanced academic journey in a prestigious
graduate program. My interest aligns perfectly with the course's focus on applying knowledge to
real-world challenges for global benefit. I have a strong background in problem-solving,
Mathematics, and Algorithms, making me a fitting candidate for this course. My undergraduate
program emphasized comprehensive learning, notably in Data Structures and Algorithms, and
particularly sparked my interest in IoT and ML. Additionally, I delved into C++, Data Science, and
Computer Networks, broadening my technical perspectives. My proficiency in multiple
Programming Languages (C++, Python, React, Node.js, SQL, etc.) and hands-on experience with
diverse Software Tools (such as Docker, AWS, Postman, MATLAB, GIT, MongoDB, Blender,
etc.) define my skill set. I'm adept at utilizing ML libraries like TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, and
Seaborn.

During my undergraduate studies at Indus University, I actively explored both theoretical concepts
and their practical implications. In the absence of a teaching assistant position, I sought permission to
conduct voluntary revision classes in calculus and algebra, aiding fellow students with my proficiency
in these subjects. Simultaneously, I also worked on an interesting project, khel mahakumbh
(Hackathon Project), as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Hackathon under SSIP (Student
Startup and Innovation Policy). As the front-end development lead, I contributed to the creation of a
sports event management system, overcoming challenges in implementing Speech-to-Text and
Text-to-Speech functionalities using React. This experience enriched my practical skills and deepened
my understanding of web development technologies. This project ensured our selection among the
coveted finalist teams, which was a huge morale booster for me and my team.

During a six-month internship at Anant Electronics in Ahmedabad, I was deeply involved in

developing IoT Cloud-based applications. My tasks ranged from creating embedded systems like
digital clocks using TM1637 displays and real-time clocks to designing distance alarm sensors using
ultrasonic sensors. Working extensively with microcontrollers like Arduino UNO and NodeMCU, I
connected embedded systems to cloud networks. One notable project was crafting a Door Lock
System with a Fingerprint Sensor and NodeMCU, which was my first encounter with hardware
devices. This experience demanded precise logic for embedded systems and meticulous hardware
integration to ensure flawless functionality. I sharpened my troubleshooting skills by resolving
software and hardware issues and understanding the critical link between software and hardware in
embedded systems.

Motivated by software industry challenges, I researched using machine learning to bolster security
through voice recognition. Our focus was on detecting security breaches via speech analysis,
involving stages like Data Preprocessing, Processing with classifiers like MLP and Decision Tree,
Detection using GMM for audio samples, and Prediction through data stratification. Leveraging a
large-person database enhances security systems, reducing breach risks. This research ignited my
interest in voice-based person detection, especially for national security applications, driving my
desire to contribute to this field. Pursuing a Master's in Computer Science is my next step to deepen
my knowledge, refine my skills, and apply tech advancements to security and machine learning
innovations.

After extensive research, I have decided to pursue a master's degree in Computer Science at Purdue
University Northwest, as it aligns optimally with my academic and career goals. The Computer
Science program at Purdue University, known for its cutting-edge research in IoT and Machine
Learning offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with distinguished faculty members like Sayanti
Roy. I have closely followed her work in “A Reinforcement Learning Model for Robots as Teachers”,
and her expertise in data analytics has significantly influenced my research. Purdue University
Northwest's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and recognition as one of the top public
universities for innovation make it an ideal environment for entrepreneurship. I look forward to
contributing to projects like “GenAI tools on learning processes”, and “Reconstruction and geometric
modeling of developing 3D biological structures”. Purdue University's dedication to advancing
research aligns seamlessly with my aspirations, and I am eager to immerse myself in this vibrant
academic community to contribute to and benefit from the cutting-edge advancements in Computer
Science.

Post-master’s, I aspire to collaborate with software firms, specializing in IoT-based applications

merged with cloud and Deep Learning technology. I aim to impact the industry positively using my
Computer Science expertise. I've set short-term goals to grasp corporate dynamics, initially focusing
on neural networks. Concurrently, I'm planning for long-term growth and specialization in modern
technology. The journey might be gradual, but I'm optimistic about my future stance in the field.

In addition to my academic commitments, I have been actively involved in co-curricular and

extracurricular activities. As the Technical Head of the Computer Engineering Student Association
(CESA) at Indus University, I orchestrated technical events like Competitive Coding Competitions
and Hackathons, ensuring their smooth execution. Simultaneously, my three-year tenure in the
National Cadet Corps (NCC) honed my confident and persuasive persona while refining essential
skills in public speaking, leadership, teamwork, and effective communication. These experiences have
profoundly shaped me. Now, I'm eager and fully committed to securing admission to the distinguished
MS program at Purdue University.

In conclusion, I am taking the initiative to pursue a master’s degree in Computer Science at Purdue
University. This endeavor aims to provide me with the resources, knowledge, and guidance necessary
to elevate my current learning to new heights and explore uncharted horizons. My robust academic
background, coupled with my passion for computer science and an innate drive for continuous
learning, positions me as an ideal candidate for this program. I firmly believe that the university's
world-class program, combined with my dedication and enthusiasm, will empower me to achieve my
career goals and contribute significantly to the advancement of the software industry.
