STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I began to explore my penchant for science and technology under small projects
and experiments in high school while patiently waiting to encounter the next step,
the next big thing that would exhilarate me. I carried the bubbling anticipation with
me all through my undergraduate degree and professional life before finally
finding an answer in the pursuit of a Master’s degree in Artificial intelligence from
IIT Delhi.
In the process of doing so, I realized that everything I looked for lay in the
principles of Artificial Intelligence. The field that has heavily revolutionized our
daily operations, from the auto search on Google to Apple’s digital personal
assistant Siri, the technology is booming and will continue to grow in the years to
come. I find myself increasingly drawn toward AI’s potential of easing complex
tasks and training computers to predict the upcoming course of action. To emerge
as an expert in the area of study, I seek higher education in the same.
I finished my undergraduate education at in Bangalore with a Bachelor’s in
Computer Science. My tenure equipped me with the ability to understand, analyze
and develop computer programs in areas concerning algorithms, system software,
networking, embedded computing, web design, and data analytics, as well as
installed a firm grasp on effective oral and written communication of technical and
managerial information to analyze and solve computer science and engineering
problems through the fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science, and
engineering.
Furthermore, under the guidance of highly motivated professors, who regularly
encouraged the commitment to teamwork and adapting to the dynamic global
technical environment, I fostered an understanding of the evolutionary changes in
computing technologies, applying standard practices and strategies in software
project development and testing using various programming environments to meet
the challenges of the future. Amidst the array of the course material I interacted
with, I achieved proficiency in the fundamentals of Data Structures, Design and
Analysis of Algorithms, Discrete Mathematics, Calculus, and Linear Algebra—
concepts that would further aid my pursuit of specialization in Machine Learning
and Artificial Intelligence.
Along with showing enthusiasm in classroom activities and maintaining a well-
performing academic record, I undertook many projects like ‘Kapi Dhwaja – A
Smart Initiative in Road Safety for Automobiles’. While ‘Head Movement-based
Wheel Chair for Physically Handicapped People using IoT’ and ‘Freyr Drone – a
Fertilizer/Pesticide Spraying Drone’ represented initiatives to help society,
‘Certilog V2.7’, an application for maintaining student attendance records, was a
niche project and won my team and I the Best Mini Project title. Under the
umbrella of said projects, I attended many competitions and published papers on
the same. Since I worked with different teams in each project, it was challenging to
coordinate with the members and establish a chain of communication. However,
we would spend time together to get to know each other better and divide tasks
according to our areas of expertise and concepts we need to sharpen.
As the team leader for all four undertakings, my responsibilities ranged from
sorting out minor conflicts between members and allocating roles to upholding the
integrity of the team and noosing creativity, productivity, and engagement. In the
process, I learned the importance of teamwork in delivering superior quality of
work promptly and the value each member’s contribution brings to the end result.
My professional journey began at Accenture Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore,
where I occupy the role of a Network Analyst. Predominantly working for
Verizon, I execute the data visualization on network performance, monitor network
availability, perform network and hardware troubleshooting, fault analysis, and
repair, as well as produce proactive and trending analysis, offer service level and
process consultation, and application of ITIL’s best practice. Amongst the tasks
bestowed upon me, I also host experience in achieving resolutions within agreed
SLAs and setting up LAN and WAN networks and Voice Over IP for the entire
European, Middle Eastern, and African regions of Verizon. For my thorough
dedication and ability to utilize it for the company’s success, I was awarded as one
of the best professionals in the SLA reporting Space under Project Verizon and
gained appreciation as the top performer, who delivered maximum productivity
with zero rework and prompt completion.
While piloting academic projects, I resonated with Artificial Intelligence and its
potential to positively impact global functions. To establish a robust grasp of the
same disciplines, I utilized the lockdown period to learn Python and attain
certifications in Machine learning, Web Development, and Digital Learning from
Internshala. Motivated to perfect Machine Learning concepts and gain enough
understanding of Artificial Intelligence to turn it into a flourishing career, I seek a
Master’s degree in XXX from XXX. The institution’s application-based course
material, simultaneously balanced with core theoretical concepts as imparted by
eminent scholars using a variety of advanced, dynamic teaching methods,
strengthens my prospect of rising successfully in my chosen field of study.
Guided by professors, I aim to implement the principles of Artificial Intelligence to
direct projects and models that contribute toward a progressive future. Upon
graduation, I plan to be a part of a globally reputed organization as a Machine
Learning Research Engineer and employ my resources to pilot innovations that
better society. In the years to come, I intend to secure a Ph.D. and foster substantial
knowledge and skills. I believe I have aptly expressed my passion for the field and
hope that the admissions committee recognizes the same.
