Art. 1 Announcement
The Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II, in the framework
of the Italian Funding Program “Dipartimenti di Eccellenza” - Project funded “Center for futuRE
SusTainable AgRifood sysTems (RESTART)” CUP E63C22003650006, invites international
students to enroll in the Master degree Course for the academic year 2024‐25 offering them
scholarships, as approved by the Departmental Board, meeting n. 6 held on July 25th, 2024.
Scholarships will be awarded to students who will enroll in the 2-years Master degree Course in
Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) – entirely taught in English at the Department of Agricultural
Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II.

Art. 2 ‐ Requirements for admission


Applicants must be foreign citizens holding a Bachelor’s degree, including a Degree awarded
according to the Italian Law prior to Italian Ministerial Decree n. 509/1999, or a three-year Degree
awarded according the Italian Ministerial Decrees n. 509/1999 and n. 270/2004 and following, or
other equivalent degree awarded abroad. The Course is open access, but it is necessary to meet the
minimum curricular requirements and adequate personal preparation as reported at
www.en.agraria.unina.it/sfs (“how to enroll” section).
In order to enroll in SFS, applicants must also have a good command of the English language (B2
level). Ten one-year scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants enrolling in the first
year of the Master Degree Program.

Art. 3 – Application submission


Applications must be emailed to [email protected] by September 30th, 2024, along with the
following documents enclosed in a single pdf file:

1. Application form (see Annex 1);


2. Curriculum Vitae (see Annex 2);
3. Official transcript of their undergraduate degree, displaying the final grade (if applicable), the
list of exams taken and their grades. If certificates are written in a language different from Italian
or English, a certified English translation must also be provided. Not yet graduated applicants
can proceed with the enrollment, but they must send a statement showing that the official
transcript, or its translation, will be provided by September 30th, 2024, date on which the
applicant must be graduated;

4. A certificate of knowledge of written and spoken English (B2 in the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages, e.g. TOEFL, First Cambridge Certificate, Proficiency
in English, IELTS or equivalent). Applicants who already have a certificate at the B2 level can
enclose a copy to the application. Alternatively, applicants must take a placement exam
organized by the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II in
dates that will be made available through the Course’s website (www.en.agraria.unina.it/sfs).
Placement exams are also available as online tests upon request. Those who pass the exam will
have the opportunity to enroll, while those who fail it will have the opportunity to take a 30-hour
enhancement course (at the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Naples
Federico II) with a final exam at the end of the enhancement course;
5. Motivation letter (one page, no more than 2.000 characters, space included);
6. Passport scan.

Deadline for the application submission is September 30th, 2024 - 5 P.M. CET (Central
European Time).

All information regarding the selection procedure will be notified on the University Website in the
section “Scholarships” at the link www.unina.it/en_GB/didattica/opportunita-studenti/borse-di-
studio, on its Official Noticeboard at the link www.unina.it, and on the Course website
www.en.agraria.unina.it/sfs (“important dates” section, at the bottom of the landing page).
This posting will represent official notification to the candidates.

Art. 4 ‐ Selection Committee


The Selection Committee will be formed by three members of the Department of Agricultural
Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II. In case the fund is not completely fulfilled after the
first allocation, the Committee is authorized to publish a second (and, if needed, a third) Call for
Applications.
The composition of the aforementioned Committee will be notified in a published notice on the
University Website in the section “Scholarships” at the link
www.unina.it/en_GB/didattica/opportunita-studenti/borse-di-studio, on its Official Noticeboard at the
link www.unina.it, and on the Course website www.en.agraria.unina.it/sfs (“how to enroll” section).
This posting will represent official notification to the candidates.

Art. 5 ‐ Assessment of qualifications


The Selection Committee will award each applicant up to 100 points based on the following
criteria:
1. Bachelor’s degree final grade and/or final assessment
2. Transcript of records
3. English proficiency
4. Motivation letter

5. Other titles (summer schools, internships, etc.)

Each scholarship applicant will be ranked according to their total score. The ranking of qualified
candidates will include those who received a minimum score of 50 and it will be published on the
University Website in the section “Scholarships” at the link
www.unina.it/en_GB/didattica/opportunita-studenti/borse-di-studio, on its Official Noticeboard at
the link www.unina.it, and on the Course website www.en.agraria.unina.it/sfs, starting from
October 15th, 2024. This posting will represent official notification to the candidates.

Art. 6 – Successful applicants’ obligations

Successful applicants will have to communicate the acceptance of the scholarships to the following
email address: [email protected] not later than November 11th, 2024.
If the confirmation of acceptance will be not received within the deadline, or in case of withdrawals
received by November 11th, 2024, the scholarships will be awarded to the next suitable applicants
in the list. This University will notify the updated ranking list on the University Website, on its
Official Noticeboard and on the Course website, after November 11th, 2024.

Art. 7 –Scholarships and tuition fees

The successful applicant will receive a scholarship for the total amount of 6,000 euro (gross
amount) in two instalments as indicated in the contract, including all taxes borne by the beneficiary.
The resulting IRAP will be paid by the Department of Agricultural Sciences based on current Italian
tax legislation.
Applicants who will not obtain VISA and, therefore, will not be able to enroll for the course, will
not retain any entitlement on the scholarship for the current and subsequent academic years.
The scholarship recipient is required to sign a contract at the Head of the Department’s Office
located in Portici (Naples), Piazza Carlo di Borbone, 1 – Royal Palace, 1st floor. The scholarship
amount and the payment methods will be indicated in the contract.
Tuition fees are waved for foreign citizens, but taxes (regional tax on higher education and stamp
duty) need to be paid separately. The amount will be communicated at the enrollment.
All recipients are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and health care provision
arrangements. They will receive assistance with all administrative procedures (visa procedures,
permit of stay request, bank account opening, etc.) by ISU, the International Students’ Union
(International Welcome Desk www.isu-services.it/it/universities/universita-degli-studi-di-napoli-
federico-ii). To receive the scholarship, recipients must hold a checking account in the euro area.
At the time of official enrollment, all foreign students must provide a certificate (named
“dichiarazione di valore”) issued by the Italian consular authorities as a recognition of academic
qualifications.

ART. 8 – Incompatibility

The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships/awards provided for the same
purpose by the University of Naples Federico II.

ART. 9 – Privacy and information on personal data

Personal data will be processed for the performance of Institutional activities according to the
principles of lawfulness, in compliance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 33/2013 and subsequent
amendments, and in accordance with the Privacy policy for participants in the University’s
competitive selection procedures, available at www.unina.it (section “Privacy”). In accordance with
the art. 13 of the EU Regulation 679/2016, the personal data collected will be processed for the
purposes of the procedure for which they are released and will be used exclusively for this purpose
and in any case within the Institutional activities of the University, in compliance with the
provisions of the Regulation of the University of Naples Federico II regarding the processing of
personal data, in accordance with the Code on the protection of personal data, Legislative Decree
no. 196/2003 integrated and amended by Legislative Decree no. 101/2018.
The data controller is the University of Naples Federico II, in the persons of the Rector and the
General Manager, in relation to their skills. Exclusively for problems concerning the non-compliant
processing of personal data is possible to contact the Data Controller or the Data Protection Officer
to their contact details available on the University website www.unina.it/ateneo/statuto-e-

The concerned parties have the rights refereed to the articles 15-22 of the aforementioned EU
