I- OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the student shall be able to:
a. Explain what is figures of speech;
b. Identify the figures of speech used in the sentence;
c. Construct sentences with the use of figures of speech; and
c. Appreciate the importance of figures of speech in creating songs and poems.

A. Preliminary Activities
Prayer
-Let us all stand up for our prayer.
Greetings
-Good morning class.
- Before you take your seats, please arrange your chairs properly and maintain
distance with your classmates.
- You may now take a seat.
Checking of Attendance
- Class secretary may I have the attendance please. Who’s absent today?
- As we start our class today, we have things to remember especially our new
normal rules.

B. Lesson Proper
Motivation
The game is called “read, title and sing it”. The class will be grouped into 3 and
the teacher will show different line that comes from different songs. The first
group that raised all their hands together will be the one to answer it. The
students will first read the line and tell the title of the song after that they will sing
it by group. The group that gain more points will receive prizes.
a. Activity
Activity 1: Arrange ( Ulitilize the previous activity ,let the students identify
whether its simike, metaphor, etc ) so in your aphormotivation they will justjust
determine the title of the songsong, then matching type
The student will arrange the letters to form the correct word.
b. Analysis
-Ask the students of the following
questions:
a. What is figure of speech?
b. What is the importance of using figurative language?
c. What are the type of figure of speech?
c. Abstraction
Discussion 1. The students will define what is figure of speech by doing the
following activity:
Activity 2. Let’s read it and define it!
This activity will be utilized to
define what is figure of Speech and the 5 common types of figure of speech.
Discussion 2. Presentation
additional inputs and discussion.
d. Application
Activity 4. Let’s create a poem and song
With the same group, the group 1 and 3 will be assigned to create 2 stanzas with 8 lines
poem and they are going to use figure of speech in creating it. Same with group 2 and 4
they are assigned to create 2 stanzas with 8 lines song with their own melody and lyrics.
After 10 minutes they are going to present it and grade based on the rubrics

IV- ASSESSMENT
Instruction: Identify what figure of speech used in the sentence. (simile, metaphor, personification,
alliteration or hyperbole).
1. She sells sea shells on the sea shore. - Alliteration
2. The baby is like an angel- Simile
3. I’ve told you that a million times - Hyperbole
4. Her eyes were diamonds- Metaphor
5. The sun smiled down on us- Personification
V- ASSIGNMENT
Research the other types of Figure of Speech and write example in each type.
