Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 Session 4

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences, polynomials and polynomial equations.

2. Performance Standards
The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving sequences, polynomials and polynomial equations in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.

3. Learning Competencies/ Objectives

1. Define the concept of geometric means. 1.Finds the indicated number of geometric means between any two Finds the sum of the terms of a given finite geometric sequence.

a.Start with a real-world scenario to introduce the concept of growth or Begin by explaining what a geometric series is. Use simple terms to describe

decrease over time, e.g., population growth, compound interest. it as the sum of the terms of a geometric sequence. Emphasize the concept

that each term is obtained by multiplying the previous term by a constant

b. Introduce the concept of geometric mean as the "middle" term in a
ratio (common ratio).
geometric sequence.

Divide the students into small groups or pairs, depending on your class size.

Provide each group with a whiteboard and markers or access to a

blackboard.

Assign each group a geometric sequence with different initial terms and

common ratios (e.g., 2, 6, 18, 54 with a common ratio of 3).

Instruct them to calculate the first few terms of the sequence (at least the first

5-6 terms) and then calculate the sum of the first n terms for various values

of n (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, ...).

Have them discuss and record their findings on the whiteboard or

blackboard.

Encourage students to use calculators if needed but also emphasize the

pattern they observe in the results.
