Teacher CRISELDA C. ANDADOR Learning Area MATHEMATICS

Teaching Dates and Time SEPTEMBER 4-8, 2023 Quarter FIRST

Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 Session 4

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences, polynomials and polynomial equations.

2. Performance Standards
The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving sequences, polynomials and polynomial equations in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.

3. Learning Competencies/ Objectives

1. Describes and generates patterns. 1. Finds the general term or nth term of a sequence given the

first few terms (linear expressions).

2. Finds the next five terms of the sequence given the

C. Presenting examples/ instances of the lesson Begin the lesson by discussing the concept of sequences and their

presence in our surroundings. Explain that sequences are ordered lists

of numbers or objects that follow a pattern, and they often appear in

various natural phenomena.

1.Fibonacci Sequence: Introduce the Fibonacci sequence as an

example of a natural sequence. The Fibonacci sequence starts with 0

and 1, and each subsequent term is the sum of the two preceding

terms (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ...).

2.Fibonacci in Nature: Explain that the Fibonacci sequence is found in

numerous natural occurrences:

a.Flower Petals: Many flowers have petals that come in numbers that

are part of the Fibonacci sequence. For example, lilies often have 3

petals, buttercups have 5, daisies have 21, and sunflowers often have

34, 55, or 89 petals.

b. Seed Arrangements: The arrangement of seeds in fruits like

pinecones, pineapples, and sunflowers follows the Fibonacci

sequence, ensuring efficient packing and space utilization.

c. Spiral Patterns: Certain shells, such as nautilus shells, and spiral

growth patterns in pinecones, hurricanes, and galaxies follow Fibonacci

spirals.

d. Leaf Arrangement: In some plants, the arrangement of leaves on

stems corresponds to Fibonacci numbers.
