_______

The Capstone is a unique and demanding challenge. In completing it, what did you learn
about your subject? Your skill set? Yourself?

During my capstone experience I have learned how to teach people a skill as well as doing my
own personal work with a vehicle with no help, with that I have created videos editing them and
planning them to show my audience basic maintenance and techniques completing an oil change.
I have learned these things aren’t hard at all and very easy especially considering this is a skill
people have struggled with before. A very demanding challenge was videoing and documenting
my experience and task, as it made me a little uncomfortable listening to my own voice but
overall, it worked out.

How is your project relevant to you, the school or the community-at-large?

This is relevant because people are now buying and owning vehicles and prices of maintenance
can be expensive especially out of pocket when things fail so I believe that teaching these things
can be very beneficial to people. In my case my dad always hated paying people for things
especially simple fixes that can be such a big cost out of pocket, so gaining this knowledge can
definitely save you from a big purchase or setback. This can help anyone who watches.

What impact if any did your Capstone project have on yourself, the community, society?

Capstone worried me tons, especially at the start of the year it was all I could even think about
because I don’t like presentations or any type of pressure like that talking in front of people.
Thought this semester I had presentations that were bad and ones that made me feel a hell of a lot
better doing presentations. After my last couple times i’ve stood in front of the audience I hadn’t
had crazy confidence or anything, but I have felt way more comfortable.

Thinking about the whole process and your finished product, what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my presenting and overcoming my worries, I have worked really hard doing
all of my work and passing this class with a good grade as well so i’ve been trying my hardest. I
have created full videos that can such people something and i’m very proud of that, I have
created my product, and I am proud of it as I thought it would be so hard and I could never do it.
I have my own youtube videos I created, and I feel like that had always been a little dream of
mine because i’ve never made one.

What was a difficulty you encountered and how did you solve the problem?

I learned that presentations are no issue, my capstone is nothing but an assignment. Picking a
topic so close and familiar with me really helped me create my project easier and bettered my
experience. Choosing a topic was really hard because e i’m indecisive and I tend to second guess
things a lot. Choosing and sticking to my topic was probably the smartest thing i’ve done
because I have not run into too many serious issues with it.
What is one thing about your finished project you wish you could change? Why?

I wish I had completed more videos engine related because I enjoy that topic. The only thing
stopping me from creating more was time because I had lots of other work to complete as well as
my published videos. With more videos i’d feel more completed and that I could actually
demonstrate more but I am more than happy with what I have completed working on this topic.

What advice would you give to a student who will be completing their Capstone Project next

I would say not to procrastinate whatsoever and do not worry about presenting. There’s so much
in capstone other than the presentation, everything I feel I ave done has prepared me for anything
that can come my way. Do your work that is assigned, it is not hard it’s better than having to
catch up because I have seen people have to catch up and it doesn’t look fun. Capstone will build
all of your skills to complete capstone, and it is very helpful to keep up.

What specific source from your research helped you the most? (or least?)

Youtube was a very helpful source for my topic, otherwise websites were not as helpful for
vehicle maintenance because the visuals really matter. I have looked into tutorials and tips to
improve my quality and service for all of my maintenance videos and demonstrations. Readings
articles can help and give you certain important information but visually, it can be way easier to
learn and understand what I am doing.

What is one thing about your approach to your project that you wish you could change? Why?

I wish I had chose easier topics because I was over complicating what I wanted to accomplish.
Sometimes keeping it simple and real is the way to go i’ve realized, not trying to rush ahead
really kept me calm and at pace during my presentation. I really focused on my oil change
project because I feel that is a great base point to my project because it’s an important piece of
my maintenance. I enjoy that I got to do hands on work and teach people something, I find it
awesome I have enough knowledge to teach people something so big.
