The improper disposal of waste at Alabel National high School has serious consequences for the
environment and sustainable development Plastic pollution is a major problem at our school, with a
large amount of waste being made up of plastic. Improper waste disposal has harmful effects on both
people’s health and the environment. Mishandling waste can expose us to dangerous chemicals,
infectious diseases, and heavy metals which can seriously harm our health. The improper disposal of
garbage in our school puts our students at risk.
Our school relies heavily on single-use plastics, like plastic utensils, straws, and bags, which contributes
to a large amount of waste. These plastics can release harmful chemicals, putting our health at risk.
Additionally, managing and disposing of all this plastic waste puts a strain on our school’s budget and
resources.
It is crucial for Alabel National High School to improve waste management practices and raise awareness
among students. By promoting responsible waste disposal, educating students about proper waste
management, and reducing the use of single-use plastics, we can create a sustainable environment with
less waste.
Improper waste disposal is one of the problems has been going on for years and many things have been
done to solve this but wasn’t able to fully achieve it. They say what you do reflects what you are. Having
a dirty school environment tells others we don’t care for our school. The waste we throw not only
affects us but our planet to. Pollution is one of the effects of this problem.
1.3 Littering
2. Why many students throw garbage even though they know that they are wrong?
3. Why many students do not know how to discipline themselves and are irresponsible with their waste?
Waste disposal is the removing and destroying or storing damaged, use or other unwanted domestic,
agriculture or industrial products and substances. Disposal includes burning, burial at landfill sites or at
sea and recycling. This when a person throws some garbage in a proper or improper way. It is also called
waste management.
In order to reduce waste at school campus, recycling efforts must be improved and organic recycling
services must be provided. Additionally, student, faculty, and staff must be properly educated on proper
waste management practices. The constant production of new products and packaging means
knowledge of recyclable and compostable materials has become a complex and confusing topic for
many people. In a society that values convenience, the current ‘’throwaway’’ life style encourages a
linear approach to the production and disposal of products, rather than a circular approach that regards
waste as simply another resource.
We can do as students is to do what we can to solve this problem. Simple acts like cleaning recycling and
planting trees are always a good start. Also, strict implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological
Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and any other laws regarding to waste management should be
made. There is also a need to educate discipline to people. Let us help rebuild our nation and our world.
Let us save our Mother Earth. Let us use a proper waste disposal before it is too late.
Our research focuses on examining the consequences and impact of irresponsible waste disposal at
Alabel National High School. The participants in this study were students and teacher concerned about
the issue of the irresponsible waste disposal. The only subject of this research is to raise awareness
among teachers and student who are concerned about the importance of responsible waste
management.
CHAPTER 2
This chapter presented the related literature and studies. This would also present the relationship of the
previous study and present study. This gave important concepts and definition of terms for better
understanding.
Findings the irresponsible waste disposal in the students awareness in Alabel National High School,
knowledge, attitudes, and practice on the irresponsible waste management. Findings also reveal that
while the school has already introduced irresponsible waste management to the students, they still
need to have a systematic and well-defined goals and practices to highlight the importance of managing
waste.
The study of Bernardo (2008) entitled ‘’Legal Bases’’ investigated the household waste management
people in a barangay (village) in manila, Philippines.
