Preliminary Activities

“Good afternoon, Class!” “Good afternoon, Ma’am!”

“Before anything else may I ask someone “Let us bow our heads and feel the

in heaven, hallowed be thy name; Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.”

area is clean of any pieces of trash.”
“Before we start our discussion, let me
first check the attendance of the class.”

“Okay, perfect attendance, very good!”

“Before we go on, I want to remind you of

our classroom rules.”

ClassroomRules:
1. Respect and listen attentively to
whoever is talking.
2. Make sure that you’re in your proper
places.
3. Participate
4. All gadgets must be surrendered
already.
5. Have fun while learning.

“Is that understood?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

focus on the content, audience, and the
purpose of the communication.”
“Absolutely, the information you provided
is spot on. Understanding how to evaluate
both the logic of an argument and the
effectiveness of a presentation is crucial
in various contexts. By considering factors
like content, audience, and purpose, we
can not only gauge the strength of a
message but also tailor it for maximum
impact. This skill set is invaluable in fields
ranging from academia to business,
empowering us to communicate
effectively and persuasively. Great
summary!”

“Now that you have already acquainted

yourselves with previous discussion,I
Thinkyou are now ready to delve into new
learning.”

A. Introduction
“Alright, let's kick-off our learning by
playing a scramble word game. You just
have to raise your hand if you want to
answer so you will be given a sticker as
your reward.”

“Are you ready?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“What do you think is the answer?”

“I guess the answer is sound, ma’am.”
“You are correct. Let’s proceed to the next
one.”

“What do you think is the answer?”

“I think the answer is judgment, ma’am.”
“You got it right.”

“How about this word, what do you think

is the answer?” “The answer is author, ma’am.”

“Your answer is correct, good job!”

“Let’s have this word, what do you think is

the answer?” “The answer is reason, ma’am.”

“And for the last word, Yliah kindly

guess?” “I think the answer is effective, ma’am.”

B. Interaction

on a given issue or topic, ma’am.”
“Good job! Today, we'll be putting into
practice our skills in evaluating the
strength of an author's argument and the
impact of a presentation. Our focus will be
on panel discussions.”

“To begin our discussion, what can you

infer about panel discussion? or do you (Students will raise their hands.)
have any idea about it? ” “I think a panel discussion is a discussion

“Using the description of a panel

discussion, could you provide an instance “Ma’am, healthcare professionals

opportunities in providing mental health
support during a pandemic.”
“Do you agree with his answer? ”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Good job! It is an example of a panel
discussion. The members of the
discussion might include psychiatrists,
psychologists, social workers, and public
health experts, who would share their
insights on topics such as teletherapy,
community resources, and addressing
mental health stigma during times of
crisis.”

“Now that we have a clear understanding

of what a panel discussion entails, let's (Students will raise their hands.)
delve into the roles of its members. To “The girl standing is the moderator, and I

“Very good, a moderator leads the

discussion, introduces the topic and
presents the panel members.”

“Moving on, let’s discuss the panel

members. Who do you think is the (Students will raise their hands.)

“Good job, panel members are the ones

who discuss the chosen topic and
respond to questions from the moderator.”

viewers or listeners. What do you think is
the role of the audience?”

“You are correct but take note that they

not only observe and listen to the
discussion but they can also ask
questions for clarification.”

“Are the roles clear to you now?”

“Yes, ma’am.”
“Let me share with you now the process
of the panel discussion.”

Steps: 1. The moderator introduces the

topic, and panelists share their views
regarding the topic.

2. Panelists discuss the topic and respond

to each other's views within a designated
time.

3. The moderator concludes the

discussion, summarizing the panel's
presentation and conversation.

4. The moderator invites the audience to

participate, asking for questions, views,
and opinions for the panelists to address.

C. Integration

”That Concludes our discussion. I

hope you learned something. Now to
apply what you have learned we will be
engaging in a panel discussion. In this
activity, some students will form a panel
to discuss a chosen topic or social issue,
while the rest of the class will act as the
audience.

“For this group activity, I will assign each

person a number from one to five. Once
everyone has their number, you will
gather in a circle with your respective
groups to discuss your activity. Please
note that each group will have only 3 to 4
minutes to present their activity.”

“Is that understood?”

“By counting 1-5, you must be all in your

group standard.”

‘Shanika, kindly read.”

“I hope everyone understands the group

standard, and now let me share with you
the group presentation standard.
Everyone kindly read the presented
standard?”

“Before we engage with the activity,

here’s the criteria for the panel
discussion.”

“Here’s the catch, group one and three

will evaluate each other using this rubric,
and group two and four will do the same.
You must provide comments which
include the groups’ areas of strength and
improvement. Understood?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“ If so, you may now begin
conceptualizing your presentation. You
have 10 minutes to conceptualize and
your time starts now.”

“Time’s up, let’s begin the presentation

with group one.” (Students will present their activity)
“Let’s give them a warm round of
applause, how about the presentation
coming from group two?” (Students will present their activity)

“Let’s now witness the presentation of the

remaining groups.” (Students will present their activity)
“Alright, that ends our lesson about
Judging the soundness of the author's
reasoning and the effectiveness of a
presentation. And I am very proud of a job
well done.”

Before we formally end our discussion, do

you have any questions regarding our
topic?”
“None, ma’am.”
“Let’s have a quick review then, again
who are the persons involved in a panel
discussion?” “We have the moderator, panel members
and the audience, ma’am.”
“How about their roles, can you identify
them?” “The moderator leads the discussion,
introduces the topic and presents the
panel members; the panel members
discuss the chosen topic and respond to

let’s all stand for our closing prayer class

(Students will pray.)
