STANDARD activities
C. MOST ESSENTIAL
LEARNING Specific Objectives
COMPETENCY a) define heat and explain the process of heat transfer;
b) identify and distinguish the methods of heat transfer;
c) perform activities involving heat transfer; and
d) cite the importance of heat transfer in everyday life
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary activity
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
a. Greeting
b. Prayer
Lets us all stand for the word of prayer
(Students Praying)
- Father God, As we start this new day for
new learning, we ask for Your guidance.
Lead us all the way. May You let us see through
Your eyes, listen through Your ears, and speak
with Your Mouth. Be with us as we explore the
world. Give us the heart to love and be kind to
one another. Please watch over all our teachers,
children, and families. In Jesus’ name. Amen
c. Cleanliness
d. Monitoring of Attendance

Guide Questions:
1. What are the three methods of heat
transfer stated in the poem? - The conduction, convection and radiation,
Sir
2. What is 'heat' as stated in the poem? - Heat affects our lives in different ways, from
the sun rays that strikes through our skin and
from the warm that we feel in the fireplace
3. How do you differentiate heat from - Heat can be transferred through direct
temperature? contact and is the passage of thermal energy
and temperature is an object property.
4. How does heat flow on materials having - The heat that flow from a hot object to a cold
different temperatures? object is a natural process or way of heat
energy, the temperature is the hotness or
coldness of an object and the thermal energy is
the temperature difference between the objects.
Excellent!
What is Convection?
- Convection is the process in which heat is
carried from place to place by the bulk
Does hot air balloon an example of convection? movement of a fluid against its surroundings.
- Yes, Sir
Can you explain the reason ms. Jeralyn
- Convection happens in the hot air balloon,
because as gases heated, they warm, expand
Kindly read what's written on the board, mr. and rise, Sir
Joey - The convection is inside the balloon. The hot
air rises and as the balloon fills with hot air the
cold, dense air is pushed out. Soon the balloon
is less dense than the air around it on the
outside and that's when you get lift!
And this cycle on which make the hot air
balloon or the heated fluid rises and sinks is
called Convection Current
Let's proceed to the third method of heat
transfer which is the radiation
G. Developing Mastery
KEY CONCEPT:
Heat is an energy that is transferred from one
object to another object due to the difference in
their temperature. When energy is
transformed, such as
thermal energy, heat is always produced.
Conduction takes place between objects that
are in contact with each other. The energy is
transferred through particles that are close or
in contact with each other but it is dominant in
solids only. Convection is the process in which
heat is carried from place to place by the bulk
movement of a fluid against
its surroundings. Radiation is a method of heat
transfer in the absence of matter or through
space. Thermal conductors are good conductor
of heat. Thermal insulators are poor conductor
of heat
J. Evaluating learning
Direction: What type of heat transfer takes Energy is transferred between the earths's
place? Write your answer on a sheet of paper surface and
the atmosphere
1. Convection
2. Radiation
3. Conduction
K. Additional activities
Directions: List atleast five (5) situations in your
daily life that shows heat transfer
e. REMARK
f. REFECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation.
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored
below 80%.
C. Did remedial lesson work? No. of learner
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share
with other teachers?
