1 Free vibration record of 1 tonne machine mounted on an isolator is as
shown in figure. Identify type of isolator and its characteristics i.e spring
stiffness.

Coefficient ( c) = 3 N-Sec/m. Determine: logarithmic decrement,
Natural frequency of damped vibration and ratio of two successive
amplitudes.

N. Determine damping coefficient ( damping Constant) c.
4 A vibratory body of mass150 kg supported on springs of total stiffness
1050 KN/m has a rotating unbalance force of 525 N at a speed of 6000
rpm. If damping factor (Damping ratio) is 0.3 determine the amplitude
and phase angle due to unbalance.
5 A machine of mass one tonne is acted upon by an external force of 2450
N at frequency of 1500 rpm. To reduce the effect of vibration, isolator of
rubber having static deflection 2 mm under the machine load and an
estimated damping ratio (Damping factor) is 0.2. Determine force
transmitted to foundation.

1 A seismic instrument with a natural frequency of 6 Hz is used to
measure the vibration of a machine operating at 120 rpm. The relative
displacement of the seismic mass as read from the instrument is 0.05
mm. Determine the amplitude of vibration of machine. Neglect damping
2 Determine the mass M to be placed at the end of the reeds of Frahm
Tachometer in order that the reed be in resonance at a frequency of 1800
cpm. The steel reed is 50 mm long, 6 mm wide and 0.75 mm thick.
