STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction and family background

I'm happy to introduce myself as Manish Karki. I was born on October 19, 2002, and I'm now 21
years old. In Nepal's Dolakha region, in the small town of Jilu, Bhimeshwor 4, I live there
permanently. I would like to continue my education at Australian Careers College to earn an
information technology diploma and an advanced diploma. So, I'd want to use this chance to
share my Statement of Purpose (SOP), which contains details about my studies, family,
employment history, and reasons for wanting to pursue an education overseas.

Family Background:

There are five people in my middle-class family, including my mother, my brother, my two
uncles, and me. My relatives have always shown consideration and flexibility. They have taught
me priceless lessons about humility, sincerity, and tolerance. Our family values unity beyond all
else. Because they see the significance of education, they have always respected my goals and
the effort I put forth to pursue them. My family is hopeful and supportive of my ambition to
study for the Advanced Diploma in Information Technology and the Diploma of Information
Technology at Australian Careers College in Australia in order to develop my career in terms of
knowledge and service.

Because I did my homework and informed my family, they are well aware of the academic and
living expenses related to my time in Australia. My family is supporting me financially as I
pursue my education. Rita Karki, my mother, is providing me with financial support. Her salary
is NPR 240,418.80. Additionally, as an officer in the Nepal Army, my uncle Ramesh Karki
makes NPR 532,704 annually. Ganesh Karki, yet another uncle, makes NPR.406,515.36
annually. In addition to this, we are able to provide for our families financially by renting out
homes for NPR 780,000 every year. My family can afford to fund my desire to study in Australia
thanks to an annual salary of NPR 1,959,638.16 (about AUD$ 22,332.058).

Examination (SEE) Kathmandu, Nepal

After Working for a Couple of years and ultimately deciding to pursue education abroad, I took
my PTE exam in 09 December 2022 with an overall score of 44(41 in Listening, 44 in Reading,
42 in Writing and 45 in Speaking) as required by the eligibility criteria of an English-Speaking
Country.

Reason for not choosing Nepal:

I've always believed that you learn by doing, therefore after finishing high school, I began
working in the field of my passion (IT) at the very beginning. I spent some time working as an
administrative assistant. I've come to the conclusion that right now would be the best moment for
me to brush up on my knowledge in order to inspire creativity and invention for further
professional growth, and the only environment that could provide me with this chance is a
learning environment.

It was definitely not an easy process once I decided to pursue my studies. The obvious first
decision for me was to study in my native Nepal. Since I have a few years of professional
experience under my belt, I can attest to the dramatic disparity between the objectives of college
courses and what businesses actually expect of graduates. When I first started looking for a
career, I was shocked by the basic marketing principles' inapplicability and daunted by the
disconnect between schooling and real-world applications.

I decided against getting my bachelor's degree from Nepal for a variety of reasons. Below, I've
listed my justifications for not picking Nepal:

 Nepali degrees are not accredited by overseas universities, which is a significant

disadvantage for Nepali students.

 Additionally, a number of my friends are pursuing bachelor's degrees in Australia, and I

have noticed that they are more self-assured, employed, and earning well while studying
than their Nepalese counterparts, who find it quite challenging to work and attend school
simultaneously.

The availability of an Information Technology Diploma and an Advanced Information

Technology Diploma was something I looked into when researching my area of interest in my
own country. Unfortunately, most universities only offered IT as a minor specialization. While a
handful of the foreign-affiliated universities sounded alluring, in truth, they lack discipline. In
addition, I was shocked to learn during my conversation with an agent that degrees from these
linked universities are regarded as long-distance education and do not meet the requirements of
many colleges for admission to further study. I also went to a seminar in order to learn more. To
know more I attended some seminar as well. (https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?extid=CL-
UNK-UNK-UNK-AN_GK0T-
GK1C&mibextid=t0sfgC&ref=watch_permalink&v=189606893941720 ) and I've come to
believe that Nepal's politics have a significant impact on the country's educational system. While
politicians claim that Tribhuvan University, the only national university, offers the best
education, the university's global ranking says it all. TU is listed at 1208 in the U.S. News and
World ranking. (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-global-universities/tribhuvan-
university-530037 )
Why Australia?

During my research, I listed out some list as to back up my claim of studying in Australia. They
are listed below:

1. Education Quality in Australia: Australia is ranked third among countries for overseas
students. The AQF guidelines, which govern the entire framework of Australian
educational institutions from primary to university level education, are a major factor in
the success of the country's educational system. This guideline organizes the education
structure and incorporates various skills that one would wish to learn, such as Analytical
thinking, critical thinking, communication, literacy, creativity and critical awareness.
2. Student Work Rights and Post Study Work Rights: Due to the rules, Australia is
known for being more hospitable to international students. The country is praised for
easing its rules for work right visas in light of the challenges that students encountered
during the Covid-19. The legislation permits working 48 hours every two weeks, which is
more than any other nation allows. The Australian Workforce Law also provides
protection for international students who are employed abroad. The flexibility of working
hours is the most promising factor for an International student.
3. Diversity & Exposure: My decision to pursue a bachelor's degree is a significant
financial, time, and effort commitment. No matter what industry I work in, I want to use
this as a transition to get my questions answered, learn, and practice innovation to
become a better marketer overall. And I think that when we explore with varied people,
we truly find ourselves and capitalize on our talents. Australia has the oldest culture in
the world, and the leading countries of immigration are the UK, India, Vietnam, and
China. People from all around the world visit Australia for their further education and
what that means to me is to be able to perceive and think from various different
perspectives amidst people from different cultures and experiences.

Due to Australia's remarkable international reputation for its educational system, graduates from
Australian institutions and universities are in high demand. Australian educational institutions
provide a wide range of courses and degrees, making it simple for overseas students to find the
colleges and universities that are best for them. Most significantly, its educational system
encourages creativity, new technology, scientific inquiry, and teamwork, all of which I believe
are crucial for students and their future career prospects. Another significant factor is that
Australia is the only nation that assists overseas students if their institutions fail to fulfill their
obligations because of the ESOS (Education Services for Overseas Students) Act. Through the
Tuition Protection Service (TPS), which was established by the Australian government,
international students are given financial security. If the educational institution fails to provide
the course for which payment has been received, the tuition price will be refunded. Through the
Commonwealth Register of Institution and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS), Australia
guarantees that overseas students receive an education of a better caliber. One of the biggest
attractions that other nations only give is the post-study work visa, which enables qualified
graduates to obtain additional practical experience.

I was able to choose Australia as the ideal location to complete my bachelor's degree thanks to
all of these advantages.

Reason for choosing Diploma in IT and Advanced Diploma in IT

I chose a Diploma in IT and Advanced Diploma in IT degree for various reasons. The first
reason is to gain an international Diploma in IT and Advanced Diploma in IT degree and
increase my eligibility for better roles and designations and the likelihood of promotions in the
job market.

Specifically, I decided doing IT because persons working at this level provide a broader rather
than specialized ICT support function, applying a wide range of higher-level technical skills in
ICT areas such as networking, IT support, database development, programming and web
development. In the meantime, Advanced Diploma in IT reflects the role of individuals in a
variety of information and communications technology (ICT) jobs who have extensive
experience in specific technical abilities, as well as managerial business and people management
skills and it also includes a high-level ICT technical background with adequate security
components and the possibility to specialize in a number of tech areas. At the same time, the
scope of IT is bound-less and has seen exponential growth since a few decades.

Few of the course subjects that I will study are Manage client problems, manage project
procurement, Configure and manage advanced virtual computing environments and so on.

While I hope to learn and be able to do these things after completion of my Bachelor’s degree

Career Growth and Plans

In the present context, the need for developing soft skills is very crucial. Skills such as problem
solving, decision making, doing research and analyzing, learning and interacting and so on can
play a vital role in shaping one’s career and future. There is an inevitable question, how will my
selected course shape my career? Well, Diploma in IT and Advanced Diploma in IT degree will
help me develop my expertise and professionalism to such extent that I will be able to solve
business issues and problem efficiently. This qualification provides the skills and knowledge
required to plan, design, manage, and monitor an enterprise information and communications
technology (ICT) network. They will be very fruitful for me in complex situations where
optimum results are expected. As my two plus two years of study will be among people from
different cultures and background, this will enable my desire to keep on learning and interacting
with people. I will gain knowledge about how different people from different culture think, how
do they conduct their business practices, their ethics and behavior toward various aspects. This
will prepare to work in any cultural situations and develop an individual able enough to compete
globally. After completion of Diploma in IT and Advanced Diploma in IT, I plan to return to
Nepal and work for one of the leading multinational Company as an officer capable of dealing
with a broad range of people, companies. I expect to have a long career in this field and benefit a
wide range of companies.

profession abroad, but I will still go back to my native Nepal. Since Nepal is still in the
development stage, skilled labor is needed to improve productive work performance. Knowing

language skills, leadership and organizational abilities, cultural understandings and professional
expertise that will make me an effective and successful business person. Nepal is in the middle
of two economic giants and establishing the business in Nepal I won’t be facing any types of
difficulties in demand or exporting me products and services. I hope to acquire expertise in IT
through various organizations and put those ideas in my own business.

Incentive to Return Back Home

I am well aware of the potential available in my developing nation, Nepal. The use of my
knowledge and abilities to aid in the development of my country will be my greatest honor and
accomplishment. As a responsible citizen of Nepal, I have certain obligations to my native
country. Numerous brilliant students from my country have studied overseas to refine their
abilities with international professors and classmates, which has been crucial to the development
of my nation's economy. Following in their footsteps, I want to sharpen my IT knowledge,
increase my language proficiency, and extend my outlook on the world.

It would be foolish of me to stay away from Nepal and the chances it provides. In addition, We
Nepalese respect family bonds and are aware of our duties to care for our parents. Since I am not
different, I will undoubtedly go back to Nepal.
