INTRODUCTION

My name is Bishal Shrestha, and I permanently reside in Rampur Municipality ward no.09, Palpa,
Nepal. I was born on October 21, 2004. To achieve my goals, I have chosen to pursue a Bachelor’s
degree in Information Technology from Victoria University in Sydney, Australia.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

I finished my Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in 2020 from Shree Janashanti Secondary
School with a GPA of 3.85. Subsequently, I joined New Horizon Secondary School in, Palpa, Nepal for
my +2 education in the science stream and completed my School Leaving Certificate Examination
with a GPA of 2.75.I learned that in addition to providing my academic records, I needed to take an
English proficiency exam. With the goal of studying abroad in mind, I dedicated myself to preparing
for the IELTS exam. After several months of preparation, I took the exam on March 31, 2023, and
achieved an overall band score of 6.0, with scores of 6.0 in listening, 6.5 in reading, 6.0 in writing and
6.0 in speaking.

REASONS FOR CHOOSING AUSTRALIA OVER OTHER COUNTRIES:

Choosing the right destination for pursuing higher education is a crucial decision, and after
conducting extensive research, I firmly believe that Australia is the perfect choice for me. Australia is
a popular destination for international students due to its status as an English-speaking country and
the availability of a wide range of courses. The country has a strong reputation for providing high-
quality education and is home to several excellent universities and institutions that employ
innovative teaching methods and emphasize practical skills development. Australian universities are

most innovative and globally recognized, making it a preferred choice for students worldwide.

Australia is known for being a safe and friendly multicultural society with strict gun control laws,
making it an ideal study destination for international students. The visa application process of
Australia is less complicated and expensive compared to other countries, reducing frustration for
students. Moreover, the climate in Australia is similar to Nepal, which is more suitable for me. The
country’s education policies, such as the ESOS Act (Education Services for Overseas Students) and

One of the notable advantages of studying in Australia is the opportunity for international students
to work part-time while pursuing their studies, enabling them to gain valuable work experience in

WHY SYDNEY?

Sydney as the state capital of New South Wales is the largest and the most popular city in Australia
situated in the east coast of Australia. Sydney is the home to world-renowned universities,
institutions with advanced teaching, well-equipped libraries, campus security and beautiful
infrastructure. The academic certificate provided in the Sydney are valuable around the world, thus
they can survive easily anywhere.

Additionally, Sydney is the home to a diverse population of over 5 million people from various
cultural backgrounds, making it one of the most multicultural cities in the world. The multicultural
nature creates a welcoming atmosphere for international students. Sydney has the temperate
climate like Nepal with mild winter and warm summers which makes it favourable place to live. The
city has an extensive public transportation system, including buses, trains, ferries and trams, which
makes it easier to get around. Beyond that, students can walk around by national parks, beaches and
coastal areas in their leisure time.

In 2014, the economist intelligence unit’s global liveability survey found Sydney as the one of the
most valuable city in the world. It is a feat yet to be achieve by British and American cities. Sydney
offers a high quality of life with pleasant climate stunning beaches and vibrant cultural scene,
enhancing the overall experience and these attractions provided many opportunities for
entertainment and relaxation outside the academic pursuits.

WHY VICTORIA UNIVERSITY?

Choosing a university is a significant decision that can shape academic journey and further career.
After a deep research, I found that Victoria University (VU) meets my all requirements as a student. I
checked reviews on Internet, which were positive enough, and to ensure I asked my friends studying
in Australia, they showed positive response to it.

MY SELECTED COURSE: BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The one year tuition fee for the course is approximately AUD . The course consists of 32 credit points.
Information Technology consists of 16-credit points form the faculty of Business and law and 16
credits form the faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment. Most units are equal to one
credit point so that makes the 32 units. Bachelor of Information Technology course is approved by
the university under the Higher Education Standards Framework and award conferred upon
completion is recognized in the Australian qualification framework at Level 7. Careers in IT fields
include a variety of roles and tasks associated with planning, researching, installing and monitoring
the performance of IT systems and transmission. Professionals in IT careers can work in commercial
service sectors and various IT companies.

BIT is a perfect blend of theoretical as well as practical knowledge gained during the course through
professional courses in the curriculum. BIT is a chance to learn standard tool for organising business
activities and managing the process and get an in-depth understanding of the world. This course will
help me to grab an opportunity to get real workplace experience.

PLANS AFTER COMPLETING BIT

I am confident that after earning my Diploma in Network Administrator and Web Designer as a
service user as well in the contemporary Nepali technology environment, I would be able to
contribute to a company’s technical progresses as well. I intend to work as a Website Designer for

my own software-building firm in Nepal, I hope to not only accomplish an individual goal but also
make a significant contribution to the local business community. The path will be one of challenges
and rewards, with the satisfaction of having a positive impact on businesses, individuals, and Nepal's

REASON TO RETURN TO MY HOME COUNTRY

My only reason for going to Australia is to obtain an education that is internationally recognized and
bring the knowledge and experience obtained from there to apply in my own country’s job industry. I
will be leaving my entire world behind for a short while, and I am eager to return to my home nation
after I am done gaining some experience in my study field. My parents and I are quite close, and they
have always provided me with a lot of motivation and support. Taking care of my parents is my top
priority. I will have to look after my parents as they age. The emotional connection I have with my
family will always make me want to return to them, no matter where I am in life. Likewise, we have
ancestral properties, which shall be inherited which my parents want me to take care of. My

use my education and skills to contribute toward addressing several issues that occur in technical
world as it is in its growth stage. I see myself as a true nationalist who believes it is his or her
responsibility to contribute to the development of the nation and to reintegrate society as a valuable,
capable, and resourceful citizen. I will always have a sense of belonging to my country. It also
encourages me to keep putting in the work necessary to achieve all of my educational objectives. I
want to make my parents and myself proud; therefore, after I finish my degree, I want to go back
home and work in the software development field.

About my travelling history, I do not have any immigration history until now.

VISA CONDITIONS:

I know and I am mentally prepared to obey and follow all the visa conditions such as:

1. I need to maintain at least 80% of attendance (full time).

2. I need to maintain health insurance during my stay in Australia.
3. I need to inform DIAC for any change in course of study, thesis or research topic too.
4. I must not change my course subject without approval from the department and cannot
work more than 48 hours in a fortnight when my course is in session.
5. I must keep the educational institution informed of my current address in Australia within 7
days.
