I am writing this statement of purpose for enrollment in Certificate IV in Accounting and

Bookkeeping and Diploma of Accounting in Sydney City College of Management, Australia. I
have attempted to describe myself, my family members, educational background, intended
course of study, reasons for choosing Australia for further research, and my career goals after
completing this course.

INTRODUCTION

I think accounting can be used in every part of a life, from a simple family to the biggest
company or government. It is one of the most common and important part of the whole structure
as it is not only about money, it is about teamwork and cooperation, according to the gist of
organizing, structure and fundamental of every business. My realization of the above facts drove
me to pursue a career in Accounting and I have decided to achieve the same by enrolling in the
certicifate IV and diploma program at SCCM. I am sparked by an awareness of the ever-
changing reality of the business environment and the need to upgrade my own expertise and
professional abilities. Introducing myself, I am Sanskar Negi, son of Mr. Naresh Negi and Mrs.
Rekha Devi Negi, permanent resident of Siddhanath, 14 Bheemdatt, Kanchanpur, Nepal. My
date of birth is March 1, 2004. I belong to a nuclear family with my father and mother. My father
has been working as a Marketing Manager in Galbab Hardware Pvt. Ltd. since XXXXX and my
mother is a housewife. My family is financially sound and will be sponsoring my study and stay
in Australia.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Regarding my academics, I did my schooling from Prabhat Vidya Niketan located at

XXXXXXX. I passed my School Leaving Certificate Examination with 3.35 GPA in 2018. After
that, I joined Little Buddha Academy Secondary School and passed my higher secondary level
with 2.96 GPA in 2020. I chose management for my higher secondary level and gained
rudimentary knowledge on accounting, business studies and principles of management. I chose
this major due to my belief that management and accounting are the foundations of academic and
professional development. My academic experiences impressed upon me the importance of
accounting in the contemporary business world. As my enthusiasm in these areas developed, it
became crystal clear that the pursuit of certificate iv and diploma education in these areas, ideally
in the Australia, is the logical next step in my overall progress.

WORK EXPERIENCE

After the completion of high school degree, I did a 4 months course (April 2021- July 2021) in
accounting (manual and computerized) at Zenith Hub Pvt. Ltd. At present, I have been interning
as a Junior Accountant in Bahu Aayamik Krishi Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Limited
since December 25, 2021. Serving in this position for almost 6 months has enabled me to work
efficiently and pursue the specified goals. This employment opportunity has widened my
perspectives of organizational behavior, besides providing me a platform to hone my accounting
abilities. I believe that a successful business professional understands the importance of
strategically utilizing a company’s resources to ensure the maximum potential and development
of the company. Further, the pivotal thing I learned about myself by taking up this role is that
teamwork is a crucial element of successfully achieving the organizational objectives. I believe
that a certificate IV and diploma studies in bookkeeping and accounting will help me furnish my
existing skills, imparting me with the knowledge of hierarchical structures and enabling to work
with colleagues of different domains in an effective manner.

DECLARATION OF IMMIGRATION HISTORY

I have never travelled nor applied for visa to any country before. I do not possess any
immigration history or visa rejection of any other country till date. This is my first time applying
for a student visa to Australia.

WHY STUDY OVERSEAS

 Study Options in Nepal

Institutes that offering similar courses in Nepal are:
 Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu- BBA
 Prubanchal University- BBA
 Pokhara University- BBA

 Reasons I didn't choose my home country.

With the aim of studying a program in accounting, I then involved myself in researching
colleges/universities in Nepal that offered courses in the related field. Although there are
several colleges and universities to choose from to hand me the required degree, they lacked
the advanced practical approach to study. The curriculum of Nepalese education is not as
applicable as it is supposed to be. Accounting is a more practical based subject and learning
the program without any practical experiment and equipment is not effective and fruitful for
students. Nepal has not provided the education that the global industry requires. Also, they
fail to address the current practical accounting issues, which would make it difficult for me to
 establish myself as an internationally competent professional accountant. In this condition,
where students are confined to limited knowledge of book learning, the state of innovations
and creativity fades away. Eventually, after attending various educational seminars, taking
suggestions from my elders, and doing online research, I concluded that studying the
preferred course abroad is the best alternative for me.

 Reasons for not choosing other countries

I researched the internet and got brief information about different countries such as the UK,
USA, Canada, Australia, and their education system, living expenses, lifestyle, climatic
condition, government policies, etc. Although all the countries are well known for providing
quality education to both national and international students, I chose Australia as it's just
perfect in every way. Compared to other countries, Australia provides a friendly
environment, good climate, and high standard of living. Whereas, the harsh weather
condition of Canada is not suitable for me to live over there. On the other hand, the USA and
UK have high living expenses, hence making the tuition fees more elevated compared to
Australia.
 USA: The requirement of GMAT and GRE courses and high tuition costs are the main
reasons for not choosing the USA. The cost of living is also very high in the United
States.
 Canada: The primary reason for not applying to Canada is the weather, which is not
favorable as there is a freezing climate.
 UK: The cost of living is high, and there is low job security for international students.
The constant amendment in policies regarding international students and other various
rules also makes it quite unstable to stay there.
On the other hand, Australia is one of the best destinations for international students to
gain highly qualitative education in prestigious and top-ranked universities, which will
benefit in future flexibility. Comparing Australia's exchange rate and other countries,
Australia has a lower exchange rate, which makes the fee structure affordable for
international students. Moreover, Australia fulfills all the requirements that other
countries lack in terms of cultural diversity, friendly natives, a safe environment, good
climate, quality education, and opportunities. Therefore, Australia is suitable for pursuing
my degree and expanding my horizon.

 Reasons for choosing Australia

Australia's quality of education, reasonable fees, affordable living cost, and flexible
environment for International students made me choose Australia as the destination to pursue
my further education. Australia is also one of the top five English-speaking destinations for
International students with its high inclusiveness and easy-going atmosphere. Australia is a
multicultural and multiracial country, is the fastest-growing, most innovative, and influential
research country, which encompasses the legal environment that concerns the field of
 accounting. It is well known for welcoming and accepting students of different nationalities
with an open heart. It is more interesting to know that Australia has seven of the top 100
universities globally. And it provides over 2200 courses across 1100 institutions. It also has 5
out of 30 cities based on affordability, quality of living, and employment options. The degree
and certificate of Australian education providers are acknowledged and accepted globally as
the Australian government carefully regulates the education system to maintain the high
standards of education. Australia offers a diverse range of study options for international
students with more than 1,200 institutions and over 22,000 courses to choose from. The
excellent practical approach to learning, flexible curriculum, and available ranges of
scholarship makes this country a perfect destination for international students.

Education Service for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act also protects the rights of overseas
students studying in Australia, which includes, rights to know the accurate information about
the course, fees, modes of study from the intuition before enrolling, transparency in a written
agreement between the institution and the international students, and Tuition fee Protection
Services (TPS) helps international students to get refund smoothly when the intuition is
unable to teach the desired course or in case of student visa rejection. Compulsory OSHC
insurance to all international students and their dependents helps them cover doctor visits,
hospital treatment, ambulance cover, and limited pharmaceuticals. The climatic condition
matching with Nepal's developed infrastructures and multicultural environment is also
significant factors that made Australia my best choice.

 Reason for choosing Sydney

Sydney is one of the Australia's largest and oldest cities, a popular study destination with a
very supportive and friendly environment. Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, lies at
the southern coast of the island. It is one of the safest cities of Australia with various safety
and crime control campaigns organized by the government, which makes us students even
safer and more comfortable. It has one of the best living standards and also ranked in the 2 nd
place out of 30 Australian cities best suited for students. Sydney was also ranked 11 th in the
Mercer Global Quality of living 2019. It is the home of 6 Australian universities and 35
colleges. All these universities offer a wide range of courses and contribute to the quality
education process. This city has strong international travel links. It is one of the most
culturally diverse cities in Australia which makes students like us fit in, in an easier manner
with people of various cultures and knowing that the people are also trying to fit in the
environment makes it a lot more comforting for newcomers. Work opportunities in Sydney
also vary and the students have options in choosing from various part-time jobs to offset their
living expenses. There are also refreshment places, for instance, mesmerizing Royal
Botanical Garden, National Maritime Museum, famous view of Sydney Opera House,
camping on Cockatoo Island and Blue Mountains landscapes which will provide me a chance
to live a wonderful experience of life.

MY REASONS FOR CHOOSING CERTIFICATE IV IN ACCOUNTING AND

BOOKKEEPING AND DIPLOMA OF ACCOUNTING

Accounting is a very broad subject that goes beyond recording and reporting of economic data.
The organization can make better decisions on the basis of internal and external economic
information provided by accounting graduates. So, they play an important role in the decision
making of an organization/business firm. The progress of an organization depends upon the
ability of the business accountants. Thus, they are in demand in all parts of the world.
Accounting professionals help to make a better decision because they have a proper
understanding of logic, set of methods and orders. Choosing this course, I will be able to learn
about business concepts as well as concepts of accounting. I believe this course would offer me
the essential knowledge to become a successful professional in business and accounting related
fields. The graduates pursuing this major have broad opportunities since they can work as public
accountants, government accountants, management accountants, and private accountants,
internal or external auditors and so on. The scope of the accounting industry leads to many areas
of specialization, such as general, budget, cost, property, systems, forensic and tax accounting.
Private accountants are also in demand for nonprofit organizations that need specialized
expertise in tax regulations and policies unique to them. The graduates can also work as a
supervisor in the business firm since they have a proper understanding of business logic and
terms. So, I find a broad scope and career in this field.

REASONS FOR CHOOSING SYDNEY CITY COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT (SCCM)

Selecting a specific institution was a challenging task because every institution in Australia is
known for offering the best quality education. I have chosen to study at SCCM after some
research I had performed through the internet and found that it is widely renowned as one of the

CAREER GOALS

My professional goal is to be a tax accountant that prepares corporate and personal income tax
statements and formulates tax strategies. I believe that being a tax accountant requires a thorough
understanding of economics and the tax code, and pursuing the aforementioned certificate IV and
Diploma at SCCM would definitely help me achieve my goal. No need to say, SCCM is one of
the most successful academic institutions in Australia. The variety of courses SCCM offers in
assurance, tax, and consultation services would absolutely help me to gain unmatched knowledge
to strengthen my professional objectives. In addition, the curriculum also specializes in global
financial issues, which will give me a great opportunity to learn different aspects of accounting

As an international student from Nepal, my cultural experience provides me insights of how the
economy is working toward globalization. For a business to survive, it must recognize the
current economic trend and be able to keep its path with this fast-growing economy. Most

interpret numbers are essential to the operation of a successful business. It is my belief that I will
acquire the most advanced knowledge in the field of accounting, the kind of knowledge that I
exploit to promote the development of Nepal's own expertise after returning to my home country
upon the completion of my study in Australia. Being a fully committed and dedicated student, I
will persist until my ultimate goal is achieved. I am firmly convinced that my career lies in the
field of accounting and by following this degree course I will build a crucial foundation for my
future. My main ambition for the future is to become a Tax Accountant and support my country
by creating more job opportunities, integrate businesses and grow to an economy of scale.

I can search for employment through a variety of channels, such as networking, referrals, job
boards and career websites, company websites, and recruiting agencies. Australian degrees are
more valuable and internationally recognized than Nepalese degrees. Degrees in Australia are
mainly dependent on practical knowledge, which increases my chances of landing a good career.
My ambition is to work for a reputed tax firm and earn a monthly starting salary of around NPR
150,000. I'd like to start my own tax firm after a few years of work experience and a healthy
bank account. Quality education, in my opinion, enhances one's professionalism and helps one
achieve success. Studying overseas would increase my self-confidence and independence,
develop my communication and language abilities, allow me to become an adventurer and
improve my career prospects. I would use my Australian degree as a backbone and support in my
subsequent career path.

Student Health Cover (OSHC) and maintain 50% of marks and should not involve in lawbreaker
activities. I am also aware that I must inform the University and Department of Immigration and
Border Protection (DIBP) of my address as soon as I arrive in Australia and change the address
in the future. I have understood the law and policies for international students. I am also aware
that the visa may be canceled in violation of these visa rules, and I may have to leave Australia.
