Statement Of Purpose

"Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things."- Peter Drucker.

Introduction

As someone who has enrolled in the Diploma in Office Administration - Executive program at
Conestoga College, Canada, this proverb speaks to the very philosophy of this program. It
emphasizes the importance of mastering the technical skills necessary to manage a modern office
and the ability to prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively. As someone dedicated to
achieving both efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace, this program will be instrumental
in helping me achieve my goals.

Academic Background

I completed my secondary school education at G T B Khalsa Public School under the Central
Board of Secondary Education in 2018, where I gained a strong foundation in various academic
subjects. I continued and completed my Senior Secondary education at Sanatan Dharam Senior
Secondary School in 2020. During my senior secondary schooling, I had the privilege of learning
important fundamentals in subjects like English and Computer Science. As you know, these
subjects are essential in the business world today, and my proficiency in these areas will be an
asset to me in my future academic pursuits. In addition to my academic achievements, I was also
an active participant in the cultural events held at my school. These events taught me the
importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving a common goal. These experiences have
prepared me to work effectively in group settings, and I look forward to applying these skills to
my future academic and professional endeavors.

English Language Proficiency

I recently took the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam on 27 August
2022 and received an overall band score of 6. I am pleased with my performance on the exam
and believe that it demonstrates my ability to engage in academic coursework, participate in
campus life, and communicate effectively with my peers and professors at Conestoga College.

Family Background

My father, Harvinder Singh, is a farmer and police officer. He has always been a strong influence,
teaching me valuable life lessons and instilling a deep respect for hard work, dedication, and
community service. My mother, Late Harjit Kaur, passed away when I was younger, but her
memory and legacy inspire me. Her unwavering love and support are the foundation of my
character, and I am grateful for the values she instilled in me. I also have an elder brother, who
has been a positive role model for me throughout my life. He has always encouraged me to pursue
my dreams and provided me with guidance and support whenever needed. I have always had a
deep appreciation for the importance of agriculture in Indian society. My father has always
emphasized that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. He has encouraged me to
dream big and consider establishing my venture in the agricultural sector in the future.
Financial Establishment

As a student, I understand the importance of supporting myself financially while pursuing higher
education. Fortunately, I am grateful to have a solid financial support system for my father. With
an annual income of CAD 12,805.34 or INR 777,888.00 and financial assets, my father can
provide the necessary financial support for my education. In addition to my father's income, we
have considerable immovable property assets, including Agriculture Land at Village Burj
Sidhwa, Tehsil Malout, Distt. Sri Muktsar Sahib (18 Kanal) which is worth INR 45,00,000.00 or
CAD 74098.
Residential Property at Street No.1, New Gobind Nagar Back Side Truck Union, Malout, Distt.
Sri Muktsar Sahib (5 Marla) which is worth INR 34,00,000.00 or CAD 55985
And Residential Property at Street No.11 S.A.S Nagar Citizen Club Road, Malout, Distt. Sri
Muktsar Sahib (4 Marla) which is worth INR 36,00,000.00 or CAD 59279. Moreover, our
movable assets include bank deposits of CAD 17319.98 or INR 10,51,775.15, gold ornaments
worth CAD 8571 or INR 5,20,497.50, and a motorbike (Pulsar) worth INR 50,000.00 or CAD
823. Our both, movable and immovable assets totalled CAD 216075 or INR 1,31,22,272.65,
providing a solid financial foundation to support my education and future endeavors. To further
demonstrate my commitment to pursuing higher education in Canada, I have already paid my
first-year tuition fees of CAD 17,941.86 and GIC fees of CAD 10,000. This payment shows that
I am serious about my education and have the financial means to meet the requirements to study
in Canada.

Why Office Administration – Executive?

I have chosen the Office Administration - Executive (1096) program for my higher studies
because it aligns perfectly with my academic background, family information, and personal
learning goals. My secondary and senior secondary schooling provided me with a strong
foundation in academic subjects, including English and Computer Science, which are essential
in business. My father, who is a police officer and a farmer, has encouraged me to dream big and
consider establishing my venture in the agricultural sector, which requires sound business skills.
The Office Administration - Executive program will provide me with the knowledge and skills
to manage and organize administrative tasks, coordinate communication and workflow, and use
technology and accounting software to produce financial documents and reports. During my gap
years, I realized that knowing about business-related things would be very beneficial, particularly
in the agriculture sector. Therefore, I decided to pursue higher education in this field. The Office
Administration - Executive program will help me fill the gap by teaching me how to operate and
provide support related to the use, maintenance, and procurement of office equipment and
technologies and select and use information technologies to support communication with internal
and external stakeholders.
Furthermore, I am confident that I will be able to excel in this program because the program
outcomes align with my personal learning goals. I am particularly interested in developing my
skills in scheduling, coordinating, and organizing administrative tasks and evaluating,
establishing, and administering various records management systems to ensure confidential,
secure, accessible, and contained electronic and paper records. I am also excited about learning
how to support the implementation of projects by applying basic principles of project
management. Therefore, the Office Administration - Executive (1096) program perfectly fits me,
given my academic background, family information, and personal learning goals. I am eager to
start this program and learn how to conduct myself professionally and adhere to relevant
legislation, standards, and codes of ethics, use interpersonal, leadership, and client service skills
to respond to diversity and support the vision and mission of the organization, and coordinate
meetings, conferences, special events, and make travel arrangements, including the preparation
of related documentation.

Why Canada?

I have chosen to pursue my higher studies in Canada for several reasons, which will help me
achieve my academic and professional goals. Firstly, Canada offers highly affordable tuition fees
for various certificate and diploma courses in business, which aligns with my financial goals and
aspirations. As the duration of such systems is less, it allows me to gain valuable knowledge and
skills in a shorter amount of time and at an affordable cost. Secondly, Canada is known for its
high-quality education system, which focuses on developing leadership and critical thinking
skills. Studying in Canada will help me improve my communication skills and IT proficiency,
which are essential in today's business world. These skills will enable me to excel in my future
academic pursuits and any entrepreneurship ventures I may undertake. Thirdly, I have also chosen
Canada for my higher studies because of the modern curriculum and international exposure
offered by its universities and colleges. The business programs in Canada are designed to provide
students with a contemporary and global perspective and equip them with the skills necessary to
succeed in the worldwide business world. Fourthly, Canada offers co-op or work internship
programs to international students, including Indian students. That is an excellent way to make
money during my studies and gain valuable work experience, which will enhance my resume and
help me make business contacts. This experience will prepare me for the competitive job market
and future entrepreneurial endeavors. Finally, the multicultural environment and friendly nature
of the Canadian people have made me feel welcome and at home. This diverse community will
allow me to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, learn about different
perspectives, and develop my interpersonal skills.

Why Conestoga College?

I have chosen Conestoga College for my higher studies because it is a highly reputable and
respected institution with a strong reputation for academic excellence. Its international rankings
include #1567 in the QS World Ranking, #299 in Canada by US News & World Report, and
#1464 by Times Higher Education, demonstrating the college's education quality. Moreover,
Conestoga College is a leader in polytechnic education and provides a comprehensive range of
programming that meets the needs of various learners, including multiple entry points and
established pathways. It offers state-of-the-art labs equipped with the latest technology, project-
based courses, field and clinical experiences, international exchange, applied research, and co-op
opportunities that engage students as they learn to connect theory, research, and practice.
Furthermore, Conestoga College's commitment to student success includes full support and
career advising services available to students throughout their learning journey. Its articulation
agreements with colleges and universities worldwide provide students with ready access to
additional post-secondary opportunities.
Future Goals

After completing my Diploma in Office Administration - Executive program at Conestoga

College, Canada, I am excited to return to India and contribute to the growing corporate sector.
According to recent statistics, the business sector in India is rapidly expanding, with a projected
growth rate of 7-8% per year. This growth is primarily driven by the rise of the middle class and
an increase in disposable income, leading to a surge in demand for goods and services. The Indian
government's recent initiatives, such as the Make in India program and Digital India campaign,
have also contributed to the growth of the business sector. That presents a promising opportunity
for me to pursue a career in office administration. With the skills and knowledge gained from my
program, I am confident that I can secure a position in a reputable company in India. The
employment opportunities in India for individuals with a diploma in Office Administration -
Executive are diverse, ranging from administrative assistant to executive assistant and office
manager positions. I can seek employment opportunities in leading companies like Tata
Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, and Accenture.
Moreover, Companies in India will value my diploma because it demonstrates my proficiency in
essential office technologies and administrative skills, including customer service, business
ethics, time management, financial documentation, and records management. The average salary
range for an office administrator in India is around INR 400,000 to 600,000 annually, depending
on the company and job role. However, While I am excited to start my career in the corporate
sector, my long-term goal is to establish my venture in the agricultural sector to better the Indian
economy and my community. Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy, and I am
passionate about contributing to its growth and development. I can effectively manage my
agricultural business's administrative and financial aspects by leveraging my office
administration skills. I am excited about the endless possibilities ahead of me and look forward
to leveraging the skills and knowledge gained from my diploma to make a meaningful
contribution to the Indian corporate sector and the agricultural industry.

Conclusion

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude for considering my application for a student visa.
I am eager to pursue my academic and professional aspirations in Canada while remaining
committed to returning to India to fulfil my familial and personal obligations. I am confident that
the skills and knowledge I acquire through the Diploma in Office Administration - Executive
program at Conestoga College will allow me to contribute to the Indian corporate sector and
achieve my long-term goal of establishing my venture in the agricultural industry. Thank you for
your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Navneetjot Singh
