VI. Introduction of the Program/Activity

• Background and Rationale

Feedback is any response regarding a student’s performance or behavior. It can

be verbal, written or gestural. The purpose of feedback in the assessment and learning
process is to improve a student’s performance - not put a damper on it. It is essential
that the process of providing feedback is a positive, or at least a neutral, learning
experience for the student.

The students may have no idea about their progress (in the absence of feedback)
or may have a false idea about their progress (in case of unplanned or insufficient
feedback). The insufficient feedback focuses on situations where awarded marks are
provided as a feedback.

This School-Based In-Service Training helps teachers to have a better

understanding of managing the approaches through applying positive reinforcement in
their respective classes or classroom instructions and sustain interest of learners in
participating the different classroom activities and also address misbehaviors of the learners
properly. The training served as a help in establishing a culture of a non judgemental

The different topics were introduced to the participants through a power
point, video presentations and a thought provoking questions that will asked reflections
of the participants based on their real life situations in the classroom before the
discussions of each activity. The workshop topics and sessions were perfectly done
through crafted outputs and turned-over to the SBM for data collection.
The participants enjoyed the activities throughout the sessions and came up with an
application of their learning through simulation activity of the different positive
reinforcements approaches of the teachers towards different kinds of learners.

• Closing Activity
The Program ended with the giving of positive impressions and awarding of
certificates.
