IV. RATIONALE:
In line of the DEPED Order No. 31, s. 2020 or the Interim Guidelines for Assessment and
Grading in light of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan. This is to provide guidance on the
assessment of student learning and on the grading scheme to be adopted in school year. As DepEd
pursues learning continuity, it is imperative for schools to take stock of assessment and grading
practices that will most meaningfully support learner development and respond to varied contexts at
this time.
In the recent results of E-SAT under the diversity of Learners, Curriculum and Planning &
Assessment and Reporting (PPST Domain 3,4 and 6) Objective 3.4 states that utilized assessment
data to inform the modification of teaching and learning practices and programs (PPST indicator
5L5,2) Science teachers rate themselves according to their priority of development levels were as
follows; 2-Low, 7- Moderate 6- High and only 3 – Ver high.
Thus, the Science Department will conduct an activity on the preparation of TOS
(Table of Specifications) for the benefit of the learner’s cognitive development and at the same time,
to meet the learning objectives. This activity offers the theory and detail as to why and how
specifications should be prepared for test purposes.
V. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the participants should be able to:
1. Re-orient teachers in the preparation of Table of Specifications (TOS) which is a tool to
ensure that a test or assessment measures the content and thinking skills that the test intends
to measure
2. Discuss the importance of design test questions with Most Essential Learning Competencies
(MELCs)
