A. Preliminary Activities

1. Greetings Good morning, Teacher!

2. Prayer

Everybody, please stand for our opening


prayer.

Oh God, Almighty. Behold us thy loving


children. Offering thee today our works and
studies. Help us dear Lord to be obedient to

Umbrella and raincoat for heavy rains.

Clothes for our body

Flashlights to light our path and avoid


injuries

supplement and patient care. Water for our
drink carries nutrients all cells in our body
and oxygen to our brain

Those are the things we prepared that are


necessary, especially for our survival.

What is the importance of bringing our


survival kit in a disaster?

Yes. Correct! It will avoid us from panicking withjn


unexpected situations.

a. Modelling

Let's Be Alert!

With every type of disaster, disaster can be


avoided if we are always prepared.

What do we need to do before, during and


after the disaster?

1. Typhoon

Is a giant, rotating storm that brings wind,


rain, and destruction.

Safety Guidelines:

Before the Storm

People should store water and flashlights,


secure domesticated animals and repair
homes.

During the Storm

People must stay inside their homes unless


explicitly told to evacuate.

After the Storm

Wear footwear for protection from fallen


sharp objects. Clean and clear. everything
damaged by the typhoon. Stay in a safe
place.

2. Floods

is a rise of water with no place to go. Floods


come in all depths, from just a couple of
inches to many feet of the major problems
of the Phil. especially in most areas of
Metro Manila, continuous rain can lead to
floods, cause damages even death.

Safety Guidelines:

Before a flood

Always watch the news on TV, listen to the


radio or check on the PAGASA website
forecast about the flood.

Prepare sufficient food, clean water,


medicine and first aid kit, flashlights and
more.

Be aware of the bodies of water near your


house.

During a flood

Be ready to evacuate. Climb to higher


grounds. Do not walk through flooded
areas. Do not go near fallen electric
posts.Do not touch electrical equipment if
you are wet.

After a flood

Return to your house only when


community leaders' say it is safe.

Be careful in entering the house, bring a


flashlight. Stay away from flooded water.

Make sure not to eat leftovers and not to


drink water at home especially the ones
touched by floodwater.

• Avoid contact with floodwater especially


when you have open wounds.

Avoid going to disaster areas to give way to


rescue and emergency operations.

Do not use electrical equipment until an


electrician tells your family to do so.

3. Earthquake

a weak to violent shaking of the ground


produced by the sudden movement of rock
materials below the earth's surface.

Safety Measures:

Before

• Determine if the site is along an active


fault line most of the causes of injuries
during earthquake are falling ibjects

During

DROP down onto your hands and knees


before the earthquake knocks you down.

COVER your head and neck (and your entire


body if possible) underneath a sturdy table
or desk.

HOLD ON to your shelter (or to your head


and neck) untilbthe shaking stops.
After

Obey public safety precautions.

Check the surroundings. Clean chemicals or


flammable materials.

4. Landslide

It is defined as a movement of a

mass of rock, debris, or earth down a slope.

Safety Guidelines:

Before

Know the landslide risk in your area.

Learn about the types and signs

Sign up for your community's warning


system. Know your community's landslide
evacuation plans.
During

Monitor the area for signs of potential slide


activity. • Evacuate immediately if it is safe
to do so. Listen to Weather Radio, Move
out of the path of the landslide as quickly as
you can.

After

Listen to authorities Save phone calls for


emergencies. Stay away from downed
power lines.
