LESSON 49: Describing and Illustrating the

different Kinds of Angles

Day 4
Learning Competencies
Describe and Illustrate the different kinds of angles (M4GE-IIIc-16)
I. OBJECTIVES
a. Describe the different angles(right, acute, and obtuse)
b. Illustrate the different angles(right, acute, and obtuse)
c. Show enthusiasm in group activity
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Describing and Illustrating the Different Kinds of Angles
Materials: three improvised wall clocks, ruler
References: TG pages 208-211 LM pages 158-159
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
 Dril
Have a review on what a ray is. Name the given rays.
1. A B 4. G

C
2.
D H
F

3. E

Ask the pupils to look at the clock inside the classroom.

Ask: What time is it now? Lead the pupils to discuss what they do
during recess time, and lunch
time. Emphasize the importance of spending time wisely.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Teaching/Modeling
Ask the pupils to read the situation .

Nena, Lenie and Maria attend piano lessons every Saturday. Nena starts
her lesson at 3:00 p.m., Lenie at 2:00 p.m.,and Maria at 12:45 p.m.

Ask: Who attend piano lessons every Saturday? At what time does Nena start
her piano lesson? How about Lenie? Maria?

2. Analysis:
Ask the pupils to arrange the hands of improvised wall clocks when the
time the three girls starts their piano lesson.
Let’s study these

RIGHT ACUTE OBTUSE

A right angle measures 90 .It forms a square corner.

An acute angle measures less than 90 .It is smaller than a right

angle.

An obtuse angle measures more than 90 but less than 180.

3. Guided Practice
Game: “Bring me game”
Let them bring the object that the teacher required

1. Objects with an acute angle

2. Objects with an obtuse angle
3. Object with a right angle

4. Independent
Tell whether each kind of angle is right, acute, or obtuse.

1 2. 3. 4. 5.

5. Generalization
An angle is formed when two rays meet at a common endpoint. It
is measured in degrees. Angles can be classified according to their
measurements. A right angle measures 90*. It form a square
corner.
An acute angle measures less than 90*. It is smaller than a right
angle.
An obtuse angle measure more than 90*, but less than 180*.
6. Application
Using the figure at the right ,identify if the given angle is right, acute, or
obtuse
