How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

With the use of Padlet, students will first watch a Crash Course video that details the phases of the
moon as well as the moons relation to the Earth and sun. This will be done in class as a group to
prompt discussion about the students notices and wonderings that they had with the content. Then,
at home, students will take the time to fill out a diagram that visualizes the phases of the moon.
They will then respond to the prompt “What is the phase of the moon you see today?” After this,
they are given the option to complete an at home Oreo task in which they can use the sandwich
cookie and it’s icing to display the phases of the moon in a hands-on activity. Finally, students will

assess their knowledge through a formative Quizizz

(https://quizizz.com/embed/quiz/6403f519dbb081001ed93d0e) where they will be asked questions
related to everything they learned. We will come together as a class to then discuss what we
learned.
Managing student learning:
Throughout the lesson, students are shifting from all different learning types. Doing this, they can
stay more engaged as they are not stagnant on one format the entire time. During this lesson,
students are also collaborating with their peers, hearing their perspectives and learning from their
personal knowledge. Students have the option to work from home, and are encouraged to do so,
prompting family engagement. Overall, the lesson is highly interactive for students to learn.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
This lesson highly supports action/expression because students are able to learn in a variety of ways
as well as demonstrate their knowledge in a multitude of fashions.
Reflective Practice:
I believe using Padlet can help students take a step back from the traditional format of learning.
Students are able to collaborate with their peers, teachers, and learn in a creative way while using
technology. I certainly look forward to using Quizzizz throughout this lesson and beyond as it is a
great way to get students using higher order thinking skills with a large variety in the types of
questions they can use.
