1. Explain the definition, and the process of Computational Thinking through Quiz 1(CLO1).
2. Explain the Basic Concepts of Computational Thinking through Quiz 2 (CLO1).
3. Write a report by applying the concept of computational thinking in various situations using
Unplugged activities. (CLO2)
4. Provide and present a presentation material for heuristics of non-routine mathematical
problem solving based on the concept of computational thinking in 21st century learning
(CLO3).
Big Idea: STEM MASTERY PROMOTES COMPETENT TEACHER
Essential Question:
Students are required to answer Quiz 1 which are structured questions that covers Topic 1, mainly
on the definition and process of Computational Thinking. This quiz will be answered in 30 minutes.
Students are required to answer Quiz 2 which is a structured question that covers Topic 1, mainly
on Basic Concept of Computational Thinking. This quiz will be answered in 30 minutes.
Computational Thinking (CT) is considered as one of the skills that must be taught, learnt and
mastered by the young generation to provide them with greater opportunities to build up their
competitiveness in the fast-paced digital economy. Often taught via computing activities, another
approach to teach CT skills is via Unplugged Programming Activities (UPA) to develop the
understanding on programming concepts, especially in schools that do not have sufficient
technological infrastructure such as electricity, internet, computers, mobile devices, or other
electronic devices.
You are required to write a report individually in 1200 words based on the following guidelines.
a) By referring to any topics in Mathematics, prepare an unplugged activity that can be used
to enhance student understanding on that topic.
b) Detail out how the 6 basic concepts of computational thinking were applied through the
activity that you have planned.
c) The report should include the following:
• Introduction
• Concepts of computational thinking that were applied through the unplugged
activity.
• Conclusion
Assignment 4: Presentation (40%)
Non-routine problem solving serves a different purpose than routine problem solving. While routine
problem-solving concerns solving problems that are useful for daily living, the former concerns that
only indirectly. It can be seen as evoking an “I tried this, and I tried that, and eureka, I finally figured
it out.” reaction which involves a search for heuristics
a) By referring to any topics in Mathematics, choose a non-routine problem in your daily life.
b) Solve the non-routine mathematical problem based on the concept of computational
thinking using Heuristics Approach developed by Krulik & Rudnick (1995).
c) By using any digital tools, provide and present a presentation material for heuristics of non-
routine mathematical problem solving.
2. The content and facts should be arranged clearly and coherently with explanations.
3. The writing should show the correct usage of language and correct sentence structure.
4. Plagiarism is not allowed at all.
5. The length of the report about 1200 words.
This coursework will be reviewed based on the attached rubric and marking scheme. The whole
coursework brings 100 marks which would be evaluated through continuous assessment.
