Lesson Plan in Mathematics 9

Week 1
August 22-26,2022

I. Objectives:
1. To identify and to describe quadratic equation.
2. To differentiate linear equations between quadratic equations.
3. To explain which equations are quadratic or not quadratic.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Illustrations of Quadratic Equations
References: Teacher’s Guide for Math Grade 9, Math 9 Learner’s Material

III. Procedures

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Energizer
3. Attendance

B. Review
---Review with students on multiplying square of binomials, sum and difference of two squares and
factoring polynomials.
C. Lesson Proper
ACTIVITY:
---Ask students to find the products of polynomials.
---Ask them to describe and to identify the common characteristics of each product.
---Show to the students the different equations which are linear and which are not.

ABSTRACTION:
---Let students describe the equations which are not linear and identify their common
characteristics.
---Students should be able to tell that equations which are not linear that contains polynomial
degree of 2 is a quadratic equation.
---Provide students with the opportunity to develop their understanding of quadratic equations.

APPLICATION:
---Students will be presented with a situation involving quadratic equation.
---Ask students to formulate an equation relating the area. By applying the previous knowledge and
skills in multiplying polynomials.
---Ask them to further describe the equations formulated and let them use these in finding the
dimensions.
---Let students give a brief summary of the activities done.
