a. Presentation
Our topic today is about the Basic Zumba
Steps.

Zumba involves a combination of Latin


Dances such as Salsa, Merengue,
Reggaeton and Cumba. The following
steps are basically used in Zumba dance.

I will tell and demonstrate the steps, and Yes, Ma’am!

First step is the salsa. This is how to do it.


1. Stand with both feet together.
2. Step to the right. Bend your knees
slightly.
3. Return to the middle.
4. Step to the left. Bend your knees
slightly.
5. Try it a little bit faster. Let your
shoulders move with your feet.

(Students at the first row will do salsa)
First row, stand and do the salsa.
(The students will clap 5x)

Next step is Merengue. This is how to do


it.
1. Stand straight with both feet together.
2. Bend your right foot slightly.
3. Return to the middle.
4. Bend your left foot slightly.
5. Return to the middle.
6. Interchange feet like your marching
rapidly.
7. Add arms. Right side if left foot is bent.
Left side if right foot is bent.

(Students at the second row will do merengue)
Second row, stand and do the merengue.
(The students will clap 5x)
Very good second row! Let’s give them 5
claps.

The next step is Reggaeton. This is how to


do it.
1. Stand with both feet together.
2. Bend your right foot slightly.
3. Drop your right arm to the side. Make
sure its pointing toward the floor.
4. Bend your left arm. Place it in the
center. It should be covering your
stomach.
5. Return to the middle.
6. Bend your left foot.
7. Repeat step 3. This time drop your left
arm.
8. Repeat step 4. This time bend your
right arm.
9. Try it faster. Interchange feet: 2
singles and 1 double. It helps to say:
“Single, single, double, double”.

(Students at the third row will do the reggaeton)
Third row, stand and do the reggaeton.
(Students will clap 5x)
Great! Let’s give them 5 claps.

Last step is Cumba. This is how to do it.


1. Separate feet slightly. Bend arms.
Place them to the right diagonally. It
should like your boxing sideways.
2. Contract your stomach. Count 1 and 2,
1 and 2, to separate contraction.
3. Repeat step 1. This time place right to
the left.
4. Try it faster contract rapidly. Use your
arms to pump.

(Students at the fourth group will do the cumba)
Fourth row, stand and do the Cumba.
(Student’s will clap 5x)
Very good Fourth row! Let’s give them 5
claps.

b. Application
Now, from the Basic Zumba Steps, you are
going to perform a number in groups.

I will group you into two, each group has


20 members. You will be graded according
to the following criteria.

Choreography 35%
Performance 30%
Mastery 20%
Originality 15%
100%

Each group will be given 5 minutes to


practice. First group will stay here at the
room and the second group will go outside
to practice. After 5 minutes you have to Yes, ma’am!
