Detailed Lesson Plan

In Grade 6

I. Objectives: at the end of the lesson, 85% of the students should be able to:

a. Explain the rules involved in playing volleyball games


b. Identify the different skills involved in the game
c. Appreciate the importance of playing volleyball game

II. Subject Matter

A.PREPARATION

- Good Morning Class! - Good morning, Ma’am!

- May I request everybody to stand up - (stand up)

D. LESSON PROPER

- Did you know class!, that volleyball is


one of the popular sports in our
country? It is the sports that demand
different skills and abilities but has a
lot of health benefits.

BENEFITS
1. It helps improved muscular
strength, hand eye coordination,
reflexes
2. It helps burn body fat
3. It helps an individual to be
engaged in a physical activity that
is fun and interesting as it provides
opportunity to connect with other
people.
- Did you know class, that volleyball was
originally called “mintonette”.
It was invented by William G. Morgan
in 1895, four years after the invention
of basketball.

Volleyball is an example of net and


wall games. As we all know, net and
wall games wherein the team players
score by hitting or striking a ball into a
court space with enough accuracy and
power that the opponents cannot hit
it back and make a return. This can be
done over a line, net, or against the
wall. This type of game involves
placing the ball and protecting the
court.

The following are just some of the


skills that are involved in volleyball:

1. Forearm Pass

- involves hitting the ball in a controlled


manner to your tea
teammate

2. Overhead Pass
- involves hitting the ball using an
overhead playing motion to direct the
ball to your teammate
3. overhand Serve
- A serve in which the player tosses the
ball with one hand and strikes it in the
air above their head with the other
hand.

4. Underarm Serve
- is a type of serve in which the player
holds the ball in one hand, swings the
other in an arc motion below the waist
and strikes the ball from the bottom
with a fist to put it in play
5. Spike
- is the strategy used to send the ball
over the net to the opponent in such a
manner that ball is not returnable.

E. GENERALIZATION
- Volleyball was the topic of discussion. We
talked about the abilities needed to play
volleyball, such as the forearm pass, overhead
pass, overhand serve, underarm serve, and
spike, and how vital it is to understand the
rules before getting started.

If so, lets proceed to the activity

F. APPLICATION
Group Activity: Each group will execute the
various skills involved in the game in the
proper manner. I will give you 5 minutes to
meet and discuss, and 5 minutes to present in
front of the class.

Group 1- forearm pass


Group 2- overhead pass
Group 3- overhand serve
Group 4- underarm serve
Group 5- spike

G. EVALUATION
Directions: Answer the following question

3. Enumerate the different skills involved

H. ASSIGNMENT
- In one whole sheet of paper. Explain why is it
that the sport volleyball is very important?
