MODERN PERIOD OF POLICING SYSTEM - In 1829, Sir Robert Peel introduced
the Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 passed by the parliament of England-the
milestone of England’s police force. Sir Robert Peel “BOBBY” become famous
and was considered as the Father of Modern Policing System (BOBBIES –
SUBORDINATES OF ROBERT PEEL)
o A citizen’s respect for law develops his respect for the police.
o The police are the public and the public are the police.
POST-AMERICAN PERIOD
REPUBLIC ACT 4864- otherwise known as the POLICE
PROFESSIONALIZATION ACT OF 1966, enacted on September 8, 1966; created
the Police Commission (POLCOM); later POLCOM was renamed into
NATIONAL POLICE COMMISSION (NAPOLCOM)
