DANTE 700 - REGULATIONS 1
ART. 01
In Dante’s year and on occasion of the 700th
anniversary of the poet’s death, the Camerata
Strumentale Città di Prato and the Florence
Philharmonic Orchestra - la Filharmonie are
announcing an international competition for symphonic
Competition composition. The project aims to encourage and

composition, focusing on the figure and poetry of
Dante Alighieri. The score will have to be inspired by
the Divina Commedia, drawing inspiration from a
figure, an image, a character, or a selection of verses.
ART. 02
The competition requires the composition of a
symphonic piece, of maximum 15 minutes duration. The
instrumentation must comprise the following
instruments, which can be used in full or partially:
Composition 2 flutes (2° also piccolo)
2 oboes (2° also English horn)
2 clarinets (2° also bass clarinet)
2 bassoons
2 horns
2 trumpets
Timpani (1 musician)
Percussions (2 musicians)
Harp
Celeste
Strings (10,8,6,5,3)
Electronic (1 player): pre-recorded material or
sampler, live electronics is not permitted.

ART. 04
The Jury will be chaired by Maestro Anders Hillborg
and comprise Maestri Silvia Colasanti, Mauro
Montalbetti, Giovanni Sollima, Jonathan Webb, Alberto
Batisti and Paolo Cognetti. Maestro Nima Keshavarzi,
the conductor for the final concert, will support the
Jury Jury’s work.
ART. 05
The winner of the competition will be awarded a prize
of 5.000,00 euros (fivethousand/00), gross of taxes.
The winning composition will be published in the
series Stilnovo, promoted by Edizioni Musicali Curci in
Milan and by CIDIM (Italian National Music
Awards Committee). The three finalist scores will be performed
in a public concert and will be programmed throughout
the future seasons of Camerata Strumentale Città di
Prato and La Filharmonie.
ART. 06
Participation in the competition is subject to the
payment - by bank transfer or PayPal - of a registration
fee of €100.00 (onehundred/00) euros. Payment must
be submitted to

The application to the competition must be submitted
exclusively online on the page

in art. 08.
The submitted score must be anonymous, perfectly

ART. 08
All material listed in art. 07 must be sent and received
no later than the 31st of July 2021, at midnight
GMT+1.
If, for any reason, any finalist fails to comply with this
deadline (or the material is incomplete or graphically
incompatible with normal professional use) they will
lose all rights to the performance of their piece and
will be excluded from the competition. The public
performance of the three selected scores and the
announcement of the winner will take place in Teatro
Politeama Pratese on the 1st of October 2021.
ART. 09
The Organisation disclaims any liability in case of
failure or incorrect reception of registration
documents, caused by their transmission via any means
and for any reason. Within the limits of its ability, the
Organisation will try to inform each candidate should

ART. 11
Nothing will be due by the Competition Organization
for the complete orchestral parts and their use in
occasions related to the event. The composer of the
winning work agrees to the work’s recording
(television, radio, and audio) and to its posting on
General websites, without any extra cost to the Organization.
ART. 12
The participation in the competition implies the
unconditional acceptance by the participant of all the
rules established by the competition announcement.
