1.Define hospitality industry and provide at least one specific example of both
successful and unsuccessfully hospitality you have experienced.
Hospitality Industry is a broad category of fields within the service Industry that
includes Lodging, food and drink service, event planning, theme parks and
Transportation. It includes Hotels, Restaurant and Bars.
Successful hospitality I have experience is a service in a Hotel where they offer a
good service to each customers and unsuccessful is in a Restaurant, some
Restaurants provide low quality of service to their customer. Some staff are rude.
2.Identify the basic components of the hospitality industry and discuss each.
a. Food and Beverages- it is the largest segment of the hospitality Industry. This is an
establishment primarily engaged in preparing meals, snacks and beverages for
immediate consumption on and off the premises.
b. Travel and Tourism- this industry deal with services related to moving people from
place to place. The major function of the Tourism is to encourage people to travel
either for business or leisure, they spend money on Hospitality.
c. Lodging- fancy Hotels, youth Hostels, elder Hostels, motels and other businesses
that provide a place for people to sleep overnight are all in the Lodging Industry.
d. Recreation- it is an activity that people do for rest Relaxation and enjoyment.
Entertainment businesses which provide shows such as movie or theater
attractions and others are part of the recreation business.
3. Explain the relationship between guest satisfaction and employee responses during a
service encounter.
Guest satisfaction and Employee response are in together when a guest give
feedback to the services offered by the establishment employee response is
important whether it is good or bad feedback.
In the hospitality Industry you need to be Positive always in order for you to be
successful someday in the Hospitality Industry. Don’t take negativities let you
down and destroy your dreams. Take criticism as a challenge, this is the way
you will improve yourself in your job. Always listen to them and thanks them to
their feedback.
The importance of Hospitality management is they are the one studies the
management techniques that covers all aspects of managing a hotel business
including hotel administration, marketing, housekeeping, accounts, maintenance
food management, catering and beverage management. It is important to learn
all of this to know how to run a Hotel and other hospitality segments properly.
When workers hold themselves accountable and take responsibility for all of their
decisions and actions, it makes it easier to avoid problems and to solve them
when the problem occur. A hospitality that ethically responsible can attract
customers and retain workers because the company’s practices and values are
direct to the values that such employees hold.
Hospitality brings big impact in our lives, hospitality gives people opportunity to
work in any field of Hospitality. Welcoming and serving guest into our home is
one of our favorite things and providing and comfortable and enjoyable is
important.
