A CRITIQUE PAPER ON WANTED: A CHAPERON

Last Tuesday, I watched a play as per requirement for this course, the play was
entitled “Wanted: A Chaperon”. The story is all about Nena and Fred who have
conservative parents. They go to a party, just the two of them, without a chaperon. The
story left the viewers with a cliffhanger. This makes us seem do not understand the
storyline or the plot. The resolution part of the story is unidentifiable; maybe this makes
the play unique because of this idea.

In terms of the actors, Donya Petra portrayed by Dritchell is superb in acting, I

like the way she delivers her lines. She is suited to the character she portrayed. Her
facial expressions are parallel to the lines she throws. Kudos to her! Next is Don
Francisco portrayed by Dhon Erl he’s role is suited on him also, he has the father figure
which makes him so realistic and natural with his actions. His mannerisms and facial
expressions were also aligned. Next is Roberting, he’s good and acting but some time,
he is over portraying his role but the humor from his character catches the audience.
Next is Nena portrayed by Merilyn. Kudos, to her also her acting skills are great and the
way she delivered her lines were superb. Despite of the many lines, she still managed
to deliver it perfectly. Next is Fred portrayed by Antonio, he’s good in throwing lines in a
dialogue however, he must improve with his facial expressions sometimes, his facials
didn’t coincide with his lines. Next is Dolores portrayed by Queenie, she’s also good in
acting and the timing with his facial expressions and punch lines coincides properly.
Then, Francisco portrayed by Jojie. He portayed well his character but he must improve
with his facial expressions because sometimes there was a point where he is gawky in
delivering some lines, but most of all he’s good in acting. Overall, the actors did their
part well as observed by the laughter and the noise shown by the audience while
watching the play.
In terms of lightings, they must have at least have an allowance of at least 2
seconds before switching the lights off because some of the transitions before switching
the light off were so fast that the audience feel “bitin”. Anyways, overall, their lightings
are in accordance to the scenes which makes us divert our emotions from one emotion
to another and also their lights coincides with the scenes shown in the play.

Overall, the play is great and the actors are superb in acting however, the story is
not that understandable due to the construction of the plot but most of all the play was
indeed a success and kudos to everyone involved behind the play.
