CHAPTER I

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Introduction

Our society now is very advance because of technology, even


in education. One of this is a system called Electronic
Educational Games that helps children at any age to learn through
computer base, its function is to entertain while the children is
learning with the help of playing a electronic game, A game that
may improves their Logical and artistic thinking.

An Educational Game is another way for children to get their


attention at the same time it helps improve their level of
performance. As the children gain some more ideas through playing
a game it leads them also to discover their potentials
specifically in technology. An Educational game can be a part of
the child’s nature because it technically guides the children to
elevate their knowledge.

An Electronic Educational Game also helps parents and


teachers to teach their children, at a very young age children
need to expose in an Electronic game to fasten their ability to
learn. Using the Electronic Educational Game children can be
aware of how the technology works and how they can be a part of
it, as the children began to learn there is a high percent of
possibility that they will apply it on their daily works.

Background of the Study

Filamer Christian University started as the Capiz Baptist


Home School in August 1904 founded by Rev. Joseph Robbins, Ph. D.
under the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. It started as

the home school for the orphans and underprivileged. The word of
God was the lamp to their feet as they went around the town. Out
of the Home School products was Atty. Josefa Abiertas who became
cognizant of her mission and carried it out as the first lady
lawyer of the Philippines. She was the crusader for morality and
services to the victims of prostitutions. A house for the unwed
mothers in Manila was founded in her name in 1930.

The school upholds firmly this missionary vision that


education is the best instrument for man’s development to enhance
the quality of life, God and society are expecting.

Following the DECS/DepEd recommendation for the Standard


Kindergarten Operation, Filamer Kindergarten School proudly
presents to the public her qualified, Go fearing and friendly
teachers. Standard classrooms and comfort rooms purposely
designed for children with lavatories. Child friendly playground
equipped with modern equipment and facilities; and her air
conditioned library with rich collection of books, print and non-
print materials including Audio-Visual materials.

Overview of the Current State of Technology

The Teachers of Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and 2 are using the


manual process of testing the children’s Learning, they using
flashcards or any visual objects that can help children Learn.
Physical Development is provided through gymnastic activities and
games, Emotional Development is enhanced through activities that
develop the pupil’s self confidence, initiative and maturity.
Intellectual Development is helped to form basic concepts through
first and experiences in self-chosen and constructive play

activities, Aesthetic Development is provided through self-
expression and appreciation of beauty and nature, Spiritual
Development is provided through religious activities and in the
area of Christian living and values formation, that the children
can demonstrate love to God and to others in their daily
encounter with teachers and peers and Social Development is
provided through acceptance of the rules of democratic living,
with love of work, respect for the rights of thers and developed
interactions with teachers and peers.
After they taught a certain subject to the children they
having an activity which to know the level of performance of a
child. They also having Free Play or child-directed play which
the children is allowed to play what he or she wants including
block building, housekeeping, clay modeling, caring of the
plants, drawing, playing and building fun puzzles. They also
allow children to participate in any activities inside the
classroom like show and tell time, story telling the sequence in
which to test the children’s memory, Recitation and dramatization
time, Readiness time on numbers concept and recognition, reading
and writing readiness time, Rhymes, arts music and rest time and
skills development time.
The teachers also use the blackboard to draw or write a
letters, shapes and a colored chalk for the colors. The
department gives a textbook which for exercises of their
Learning, the textbook can also be use for assignment and
Quizzes. They also having an activities every Friday like
Swimming, Gardening, Cooking/Baking and Painting.

Statement of the Problem

1. Takes long time to prepare visual objects for the children’s
activities.
2. Hard to caught children’s attention during class.
3. Takes time to test the children’s learning during the
activity.

Statement of Objectives
1. To create a game that will lessen the time spent in
preparing a visual object.
2. To be able to create a creative and fun game that will catch
children’s attention.
3. To be able to create a game that automatically presents the
scores after the children play the game.

Theoretical Framework

Adobe Flash Pro CS6 is a multimedia software platform used


for production of animations, browser games, rich internet
applications, desktop applications, mobile applications and
mobile games. It displays text, vector graphics and raster
graphics to provide animations, video games and applications. It
allows streaming of audio and video, and can capture mouse,
keyboard, microphone and camera input. It contains an Action
Script programming language that allows the user to code, develop
interactive animations, video games, web applications, desktop
applications and mobile applications. Adobe Photoshop is a raster
graphics editor; it can edit and compose raster images in
multiple layers and supports masks, alpha compositing and several
color models including RGB, CMYK, Lab color space, spot color and
duotone. It has vast support for graphic file formats but also

uses its own PSD and PSB file formats which support all the
aforementioned features.

In this Study Adobe Flash Pro CS6 is a software that allows


the user to code, edit and save the current program of the game,
it also helps the manage the sequence of the game, animates image
and add design to any layers by the use of Frames in the
timeline. It enables to run and test if the proposed system works
correctly. Adobe Photoshop portable is software that allows
editing, design and exporting the image in a different file
format. It also enhances the low quality of image.

The Children are required to enter their name before


proceeding to the game, In order to have score the pupils need to
select different games in the system; Shapes, Letters, Colors or
Identifying objects. They should answer every 20 questions in
each game and the system will compute and check the wrong and
correct answer then at the end of the game the system will show
the total score of the player. The game also includes different
stories that can add entertainment while the children are playing
during the game.

The proposed system can give children a Learning and


knowledge about different colors, shapes, objects and Letters by
playing different game. It also provides basic information that a
children should Learn at their age. It improves children’s
logical and artistic thinking. The proposed system will test the
children’s knowledge about their teacher’s lesson in shapes,
colors, objects and Letters.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The proposed system is a type of Desktop game that allows


the children from Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and 2 at age of 3 to 6
years old to play educational game about colors, shapes, objects
and letters, it will first provide a simple guide that a children
can understand before playing the game and also the game includes

stories or situation that the children can interact. The Proposed
System enables to record and show the entire score after the
game.

The limitation of the proposed system is that it can’t be


access to the internet and print score because the system is a
Desktop and offline game.

Significance of the Study

For the pupils of Kindergarten Department, through my


proposed system it can help them to Learn and improve their
logical and artistic thinking, it will test their thinking skills
for them to absurd new Ideas and knowledge.
The Proposed System can help guide the pupils of
Kindergarten to learn more about shapes, colors, letters and
objects. The Idea in the game will be an addition for their
knowledge and it can entertain them also at the same time.
For the Teachers, the proposed system will help them
interact more with their pupils, it will lessen their manual
process in testing the children’s learning. Through my proposed
system it helps the teacher aware about the children’s
performance by checking the scores.
The Proposed System can be a part of the teachers’
performance basis for the children, by observing how could a
child understand the type of the game, The proposed system can
help the teacher teach the children about colors, shapes, Letters
and objects in a technical way.
