The document discusses the design of anchor bolts for a base plate connecting a column to its foundation. It includes calculations of bolt forces, anchorage length requirements, plate thickness checks, and weld design.

Calculations being performed include tension forces in anchor bolts, shear forces, anchorage length requirements, bending moment in the base plate, and weld sizes.

The checks that have failed include insufficient tensile capacity of the bolts, insufficient anchorage length in the concrete, and insufficient plate thickness to resist bending. These issues need to be addressed in the design.

Total No.of Bolts in tension side = 5 Nos
Total number of bolts provided = 10 Nos

Calculation of Bolt Forces

N = C-T

Permissible bearing Stress pmax = 0.45 fck

= 9 N / mm2

C = 0.45 fck y B
Therefore, N = 0.45 fck y B - T

M = Cb + Ta
= 0.45fck y B (L/2 - y/2) +Ta

Solving above equation,

y = L/2 + a - {(L/2 + a )2 - [2(M+Na) / ( 0.45fckB)]}0.5

= 600/2+260-{(600/ 2 +260)^2
-[2 (324x10^6 + 59x10^3)/(0.45x20x250)]}^0.5

y = 450.62 mm
