GAUGE
Entrelac block 11 sts x 21 rows in stockinette = 1⅛” x 1½” (3 x 4 cm).

PATTERN NOTES
Both socks of each size are knitted identically, with entrelac blocks facing RS or

WS respectively. Each sock starts from provisional cast-on, is formed in entrelac

with internal shaping for the heel and the toe and then is grafted between tiers

zigzagging around the leg.

To change the size of socks, you may work bigger or smaller entrelac blocks:

adding or subtracting 1 st x 2 rows will widen or narrow sock circumference by

¾” (2 cm), and lengthen or shorten sock foot by ¾”/1” (2/2.5 cm).

Stockinette blocks might be worked in traditional knit-and-purl rows with

turns, or in knit-and-knit-back-backwards rows without turns. Garter stitch

blocks for the cuff are worked in all knits with turns after each row.

selvedge loops of Tier II block, then return last picked-up stitch onto left needle and p2tog. Row 2

following WS rows: Slip 1, knit back backwards 10 (or turn, slip 1, purl 10, turn). Repeat last 2 rows

Tier V, Block 7: as Block III-2 (along Block V-6, joining to Block III-6).

Tier V, Block 12 (garter stitch): Set-up row 1 (WS): Pick up and knit 11, inserting right needle tip

only through farthest selvedge loop of Block II-1, then return last picked-up stitch onto left needle

and p2tog, turn. Row 2 and all following RS rows: Slip 1 wyif, knit 10, turn. Row 3 and all

following WS rows: Slip 1, knit 9, p2tog, turn. Repeat last 2 rows for 21 rows in total. Bind off

11 using JSSBO = 1 st left.

Tier VI, Blocks 1-6: as Tier II, Blocks 1-6 (along Tier V).

Tier VII, Block 1: Set-up row 0 (RS): Pick up and knit 11, inserting right needle tip through both

selvedge loops of Block V-6, then knit 1 and pass last picked-up stitch over. Row 1 and all

following WS rows: Slip 1, knit back backwards 9, ssk backwards (or turn, slip 1, purl 9, p2tog,

turn). Row 2 and all following RS rows: Slip 1, knit 9, ssk. Repeat last 2 rows for 22 rows in total

ending with WS row.

Tier VII, Blocks 2-5: as Block III-2 (along Tier VI).

Tier VII, Block 6 (garter stitch): as Block V-12 (along Block VI-1).

Tier VIII, Blocks 1-5: as Tier II, Blocks 1-5 (along Tier VII).

Tier VIII, Blocks 6-9: as Block II-2 (along Tier V).

Retrieve 11 live loops from cast-on of Block III-1.

Tier VIII, Block 11: as Block II-2 (along Block VIII-10, joining to live loops of Block III-1).

Retrieve live loops from cast-on (11 from each block of Tier I). Cut the yarn leaving a tail about 80”

(2 m), thread the blunt sewing needle and sew open loops of Tier VIII to selvedges of Tier I, and

selvedges of Tier VIII to live loops of Tier I.
