I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the student’s will be able to:
a. Observe the correct pitch levels (high, medium, low) when reading lines of
poetry, sample sentences and paragraphs. (EN7OT-I-c-1.14.2)
b. Emphasize correct stress in reading two vowel sound words called diphthongs.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Lesson 2: Folk songs – Oldest crazes
Subtopic: Diphthongs
References: Essential English Book, pages 27-30.
Materials: Board, Marker, Laptop, TV.

III. Learning Tasks:

A. Routine:

Let us pray first, may I ask someone to lead the prayer please.

Thank you. Good Morning/Afternoon class.

Before you take your seats, kindly check if there are pieces of paper under your chairs. Pick it up and arrange your
chairs properly.

Attendance Checking.

B. Motivation:

-Teacher will ask the students what they have learned about the previous lesson.

C. Lesson Proper:

-The teacher will ask the students their prior knowledge about diphthongs.

-Teacher will discuss to the class what are diphthongs and will give examples, the students will read the words stressing
the correct vowel sound.

-The students will write on the board their own examples of two vowel sound words.

D. Activity:

-Teacher will ask the students to divide the class into 5 groups and they will recite in the class their chosen literary work
and the other groups will assess their performance.
-The teacher will give each group evaluation questions to assess the performing group.

E. Generalization:

-Teacher will ask the students, why is it important to observe the correct pitch of voice and correct pronunciation of
words?

F. Application:

-The class will read a paragraph and make sure to observe the correct pitch of voice and correct pronunciation of words.

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Give 2 examples of each diphthongs and make a complete sentence from the
words.

V. Assignment

-Study in advance: Page 30-31 and answer practice exercise letter D on page 32.
