Classroom Supplies- Items to bring with you every day to class:


1. 3-ringed binder 2. Dividers for your binder
3. Loose leaf notebook paper 4. Composition Book
5. A pencil or pen (I will not pass out pencils)

My Goals for you as a student in this course are:


1. To enjoy learning about World History
2. To understand how World History shaped our world.

This course is a survey of Ancient World History. The following is a list of the units we will learn
about this year and when we will be covering the units.

Assignments:
Throughout the school year, students will be completing many different types of assignments.
Students will keep social studies binder where they will keep their QOD, Notes, Worksheets, Projects and
their Assessments. Students will also have a writer’s notebook they will keep in class.

Type of Assignments
 QOD (Question of the Day): Students will complete the QOD at the beginning of the class every
day and collected on Fridays. (Students can make these up at any time)
 Writers Notebook: Students will keep a composition book where they will complete many different
writing assignments throughout the school year. (kept at school)
 Projects: Students will complete small and large assignments in class, at home and online.
 Students will complete worksheets using their textbooks (all textbooks will remain at school),
online resources and other classroom resources.
 Students will take Common Assessments (All 7th graders take) and Test/Quizzes with each unit we
cover.

Grade Check
o You will be required to check your grade weekly, making sure you are aware of you current
success or any grade discrepancies.
o You will need to record your grades on your tracking chart
Weekly Quizzes
o You will receive weekly vocabulary terms. Each week students will take a quiz over their
terms.
o Each week we will add vocabulary terms and students will need to know weekly and
previous week’s terms. (No more than 10 total vocab terms a week on a quiz).
o At the end of each unit, we will take a larger Vocabulary Quiz over the unit’s vocabulary.
Absence Policy
It is your responsibility to get your make-up work and complete it, and turn it in. You will
need to go to the “What You Missed” board to grab your papers and check the Daily Activities log.
If you still have questions after you have grabbed the log, please come ask me.

Late-Work
Assignments are due on their due date. Any assignment turned in late may have points deducted
depending on the value of the assignment. Late work for the current units only (If we have finished talking
about the Greeks, and moved on to the Romans, I will not accept any assignments from the Greek Unit).

Organization of your binder (We will cover in class)


1. Survival Handouts (Colored Sheets)
a. In this section of your binder you will keep:
i. Vocabulary Words
ii. Grade Track Sheet (Collected at the end of the Semester for Extra Credit)
iii. Your syllabus (this sheet of paper)
2. Question of the Day
a. In this section of your binder you will keep:
i. Your daily Question of the Day.
3. Notes
a. In this section of your binder you will keep:
i. Any class notes
ii. Any hand-outs you receive
4. Graded
a. In this section you will keep:
i. Any assignment, paper, quiz, test, or project that has a grade on it.
ii. It is a good idea for you to keep all grades in case there is a discrepancy in your
grade.
5. Review Materials
a. In this section you will keep:
i. Any test/quiz Mr. Brinker tells you to place here.
Grading Scale
90%-100% = A
80%-89% = B
70%-79% = C
69%-64% = D
0%- 63% = F
