LESSON OUTLINE:
Finger Writing
1. Divide pupils into pairs.
2. Tell one pupil in the pair to look at the board, and the other pupil to cover their
eyes or put their head down on the desk so that they can’t see the board.
SET INDUCTION 3. Write “o’clock” / “half past” on the board, give pupils about 5 seconds to
remember it, and then rub the word off the board. You could use a picture if
(5 minutes) pupils may benefit from using a visual aid.
4. Tell pupils who did not see the board to stand with their back to their partner
while the partner writes the word on their back by using their finger.
5. Each pupil works out what word their partner is writing.
6. Reverse the roles so that each pupil gets the chance to write.
7. Repeat for other topic words.

Circle Game
1. Play a circle game (a whole class activity where pupils sit or stand in a large
PRE circle) to review numbers up to twelve.
(15 minutes) 2. Teacher can choose another pre-lesson activity from the list provided in the
introduction.
What Time Is It?
1. Introduce telling the time (on the hour and half past) using the board or toy
clocks if available. See Teacher’s Book p.24, Warm up. Pupils can stay in a
WHILE circle for this stage.
2. Continue the lesson with Vocabulary and Grammar box (See Teacher’s Book
(20 minutes)
p.24).
3. Next, ask pupils to play the game in Activity 1 (See Teacher’s Book p.24).
Monitor as pupils work on this activity. Depending on their performance, you
could ask pupils to repeat Activity 1 with new partners.
4. Follow with Optional 1 or Optional 2 (Teacher’s Book, p.25), depending on
pupils’ performance and interests.

Listen and Point


1. Briefly review the “o’clock” and “half past” on the clock flashcards.
CLOSURE 2. Place the clock pictures on the walls around the room.
(5 minutes) 3. Say the time. Pupils point to the corresponding flashcard.
4. Divide pupils into groups. Pupils continue this activity in their groups.
