Chapter I
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Nowadays, printed shirt are almost seen everywhere: school uniforms with the
school logos printed on it, advertisements printed on shirts, title of an event, different
cartoon characters, quotable phrases and lot more things printed on shirts. There are
many processes of transferring a design to a shirt. Computer printed designs, screen
printing process, heat transferred images, and painting the shirt itself. In these modern
days, things are done in faster ways; that is why computers play varieties of role.
Computer printed designs are among the most common in the market today. One can
have his own picture printed in a shirt in just an hour or he can even personalize a
design that he likes to be printed in his shirt. A design can also be transferred in number
of shirts in a clothing company.
This computer printed shirt is the focus of this feasibility study. We come up with
this product to compete in the demand of modern days’ consumers. In addition to
computer printed shirts, we also come up with the idea having painted designs as an art
design exclusive for each company. Images add art to the printed shirts. It livens up the
clothing and gives more attraction to those who see it.
Colleges and universities have their departmental shirts or organizational shirts,
which is sometimes used by the students as their uniforms. Our business is targeting
this opportunity for us to give them a uniquely designed t-shirts that will surely be
appreciated by the students. In addition to this, we also aim to create our exceptional
own painted design for other organizations and groups who conduct events and
gatherings.
High presence of human labor in Koronadal City, South Cotabato for production
will make this business’s goals possible. It will in fact benefit the City of Koronadal
because production energy will come from the city itself and province might be known in
the future for producing exceptional computer printed shirts with exclusive painted
designs for each company.
Since that t-shirt printing is the new trend in today’s era, hence, the researchers
decided to establish it in Koronadal City for most of the schools and even other
organization highly demand the use of printing media most likely in t-shirt printing.
Rationale of the Study
The researchers conduct this study because the population in every school
rapidly grows and the number of organizations being established also escalates which
means that the demand for modernized t-shirt printing will also increase. Based on the
reference, there were only few printing presses in Koronadal City use modernized way
of printing, most of them were only using heat transferred images which sometimes
degrades the quality of printed images in shirts, thus, the researchers come to this plan
to promote modernized and quality printing. The researchers believe that through this,
we can be more competitive in the market and to be the leading manufacturer and
supplier of paint designed computer printed shirts in the province.
Objectives of the Study
This study aims to determine the feasibility of establishing computer printed designs for
T-shirt printing in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This study is delimited to the computer printed design printing business and the
choice of printing services of some selected colleges from Koronadal City, year 2018.
The researchers think that the selected institutions and respondents fit the need of this
research. This study is conducted on September 2018 to October 2018.

Locale of the Study
The locale of the study is in 134 Abad Santos Street, Koronadal City. The place is near
the national highway, it will be an additional factor due to its accessibility to the market
since people can easily locate the shop.

Respondents
The information will be obtained from different selected colleges in Koronadal
City which are Green Valley Foundation College and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial
Colleges- Marbel Inc.. This business will be the producer of computer design T-shirt
printing.

Research Instrument
The measured device used in data is survey questionnaire. The researchers
prefer to choose survey questionnaire due to the reliability of the answers which give a
full validity and legitimacy for the data to be presented.
Sampling Technique
The researchers will use purposive sampling technique in gathering data wherein
the colleges and universities in Koronadal City are the respondents. The importance of
this sampling technique is it focuses on particular characteristics of a population that are
of interest which will give best answers to the research questions.
Data Gathering Procedure
A permit to conduct a research and study will be secured from the office of the
administrator of GVFC. After the permit is secured, the researchers will proceed to the
designated colleges in Koronadal City where the study will be conducted.
The researchers will ask permission through letter to the principal and
administrator of every school to conduct the study. Upon the approval, the researchers
will ask permission from the principal and administrator to schedule when to administer
the questionnaire. Lastly, the researchers will interpret the data to construct conclusion.
The researchers will also use websites and Google to obtain more information needed
for this study.

INDUSTRY ASPECT
Industry
Clothes are necessity of human. All of the people, not only in the Philippines but
in the whole world need clothes. From the moment we are born, we are worn with a
cloth for the sense of protection, but today in the 21st century clothes are also worn for
the sense of fashion and creativity. School and company uniform, jersey, hoodies,
sando, T shirts etc., all of these are few examples of clothing that we can use not only
for our daily living, but also for profit making.
Today, there are a lot of ways to start a business, but starting a T Shirt printing
business is just a one snap a way. One thing great about t-shirt printing business
opportunity is, it is so easy to learn and operate. It provides a quick-start solution,
complete hands-on training and support. It is an affordable opportunity for everyone
who wants a fast return of investment and proven to generate income right away.
The global custom t-shirt printing market is expected to witness significant growth
with increasing disposable income, shifting trends towards fashionable apparels
particularly in developing nations is expected to drive the demand for custom printed t-
shirts. In addition, advancement in printing technology to print t-shirt with multiple color
and design is also driving the growth of Custom Unisex T-shirt Printing market globally.
Based on printing technologies, custom t-shirt printing market is classified into
screen printing, digital printing and plot printing. Screen printing is a conventional
technique used for t-shirt printing across the world and accounted for the largest

In Koronadal City, there are only few printing establishments who are using the
digital or computer design printing in producing a product. Most of them are still using
heat compress and paint, the oldest ways of transferring an image to the fabric.

The computer design T shirt printing will offer customers a variety of options for
creating their own custom shirts. The majority of orders will be for t-shirts, however
other style shirts will be available. This business will use a printer sublimation
technology that allows a computer image to be applied to a shirt in a high quality, high
resolution, and economically feasible manner. This technology creates an image
durable enough to withstand thousands of washings. Its photo-like quality, due to
significantly higher printer resolution than anything on the market, will show off any
image. The technology is cost effective enough to offer customers the ability to order
just one unit. Most other competitors' costs prohibit printing custom shirts in one-off
production runs. Finally, the customer may choose from an extensive library of existing
images, supply their own image, or have an artist create an image for them.

The market of T shirt printing is always in demand since that there are a lot of
schools and organizations in Koronadal City conducting different events every month
and they are using uniform T-shirt in different activities.

activities. The help also of loyal customers and the trust they will give to the business.

Government Policies
In establishing a business, we should get a BIR Certification of Registration (BIR
Form 2303), it is a basic requirement on conducting a business because this business
requires a tax revenue. The business should also be registered in Department of Trade
and Industry or DTI since the type of business is sole proprietorship. Barangay
Clearance, Mayor’s Permit, SSS employers’ registration and DOLE Registration are
other requirements to comply in establishing a Printing Press. As well as, Pag-IBIG
Fund Permit and PhilHealth Permit as licenses in establishing a business and a
personnel benefits.

MARKETING ASPECT
Target Market
The target markets are the colleges and universities within Koronadal City,
specifically the Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial
Colleges- Marbel Inc, since this kind of business is popular among different schools
during activities or any other events in other organization. The said respondents have
the capability to purchase printing services like T-shirt printing to be used during their
school events.
The potential costumers of printing services are willing to purchase a massive
number of orders to cater the needs of the students during the events to be conducted
in their school. Hence, the market will ensure that quality service will be served to these
customers for both benefits.
The study is focus on t-shirt printing service. Since, it is one of in demand
business in Koronadal City. To market this product, the researchers will be using a
Tradional and Modernized Marketing which is the use of Radio advertising, flyers and
social media promotion in which the product will be known to the province.

respondent for 501-600 printed shirts. 2 respondents respond that they order 900-1000
orders of printed shirts. All of the respondents answer that they usually order during
March and September.

The table shows that all of the respondents answer Round-necked as their
choice for the type of shirts to be used for printing.
Demand
The demand of printing service for printed shirt is higher. According to the survey,
there are more than 6,300 orders are received by printing press every month of March
and September for only 2 selected schools in Koronadal City. But the total number given
is only for 2 specific events, thus, if other schools and organization will be included, the
number of approximate orders will be much higher than the current data.

In order to promote the product, the researchers will be using the traditional and
modernize marketing in which there will be a radio advertisement and flyers to be given.
Since that social media is the new trend for
today, the researchers will also be using social
media sites such as; Facebook, Instagram
and YouTube to make an endorsement for the
product.
Channel of Distribution
The researchers will distribute the product, in its distribution channel, to control
and monitor the circulation of our product we will distribute according to our target
market, (Colleges and Universities) then it will go to our consumers.

He is responsible for the designs. He makes the designs of the shirts for each
company.
5. Job Title: Production Workers
-Must have a 2 year work experience and civil service qualified.
Duties and Responsibilities of Production Workers:
-They are the ones responsible for transferring the designs to the computer,
printing the shirt, drying, and packaging of the products. They deal with the whole
process of producing the best paint designed computer printed shirts.
6. Job Title: Maintenance
- High School graduate. Must be hardworking and honest and willing to stay
overnight .
Duties and Responsibilities of Maintenance:
-Maintenance personnel are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the
area. They make sure that every day after work, the whole place is clean. They also
stay in the business location guard the place at night.
7. Job Title: Accountant
- Must be a graduate of either Bachelor Science in Accountancy and a Certified
Public Accountant.
Duties and Responsibilities of Accountant:
He is responsible for all the financial aspects of the business.
8. Job Title: Driver
-Must be a graduate of automotive and mechanical courses and has 2 year of
work experience in driving with complete license.
Duties and Responsibilities of Driver:
The driver is responsible for transferring the employees from the business location
to the customer. He also accompanies the delivery boy and the personnel in charge of
purchasing the production materials.
Recruitment Procedure
Before the process of recruiting and selecting of workers in the company, we will
post first the job vacancies for the public to be inform. Major procedures are as follows:
 Screening- this is the first procedure in recruiting and selecting workers. The
company will scan the entire resume passed by all the aspiring workers. This will help
the company to select applicants according to their background and personal
information written in the application form.
 Preliminary Interview- in this process, the company will call all the applicants
they think fit to the job vacancies. They will check all the information written if it is
correct and reliable thru asking the applicants.
 Mental Test- this will help the company to know if the following applicants is
literate and in good condition. And it will give them idea on how they will handle some
incidents that are unexpected.
 Background check- this is a very important step in recruiting and selecting
workers because this will give assurance to the company that the applicants is a good
citizen and he do not have any criminal violations.
 Final Interview- after checking all the necessary information, the company will
do a final interview to the applicants who passed the first processes. This will assure the
applicants that they are in process and under consideration of the company.
 Legal requirements- in this process, the applicants must secure and pass all
the important documents that the company requires.
 Physical and Mental Examination- the applicants will now undergo medical to
test their physical fitness and medical condition. This will give assurance to the
company that the applicant are in good health and not medically ill.
Applicants who will fail in any if the steps in the process in recruiting and selecting
workers will be rejected. On the other hand, after passing all the steps in recruiting and
selecting workers, the company will hire the applicants made it up to the last step.

The salary for General Manager is P12,000, the artist will have a monthly salary
of P10,000 and the accountant will compensate P9,000 monthly. Production Worker will
compensate based on the minimum wage of 390 per day, the maintenance will have the
monthly wage of P6,400 and the driver will compensate P7,000.
Compensation and Benefits

 Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, such benefits will be
grated to all the employees of the company.
 The salary will be given every 15th and 30th day of the month.
 Additional incentives like bonuses (Christmas) will also be given as part of their
incentives. Employees that will work during paid holidays like New Years Day, All
Souls Day, Holy Friday, etc. will get their inducement.
 Survivor benefits if in case the employee die, will be given to the spouse and
children.

Training Program
The hired applicants will be required to attend seminar and training programs to
be able to enhance their knowledge and skills, and also to know their rights in terms of
their benefits and compensation. We will also conduct employee orientation for them to
know their duties, responsibilities, and the rules and regulations of the company.
Training will also be required for them to perform their jobs and responsibilities as
well. It is also for them to know the proper usage of the different machineries and
equipment that they will be using. A program will be conducted before they will start
working, and after 5 months for the workers to improve more of their skills and
knowledge about their job.

OPERATIONAL AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Product Technical Description
Digital printing is the process of transferring a document on a personal
computer or other digital storage device to a printing substrate by means of a device
that accepts text and graphic output. As with other digital processes, information is
reduced to binary code, or "digitized," to facilitate its storage and reproduction. Digital
printing has steadily replaced lithography in many markets, especially at the consumer
and business level, as a result of its substantially lower production costs. This method
uses a special inkjet printer paired with a computer, just like a regular printing job but
instead of paper being inked up it’s a plain tee that’s been fed through.

1. Creating the Design. This
is the first step in producing
the painted shirt. The design
must first be done and
drafted for the next step to
continue. In this step, the

consumers must agree with the design being suggested or pass his personal
design. The colors to be used must also be enumerated.
2. Transferring the Design to the Computer.
3. Printing the Shirt Design. This is the main step of this process; this is where the
design is being transferred on the shirt.
4. Drying. Drying is very important in this process because once the painted design
is not dry, it might be ruined and the shirt will not be used at all. The painted shirt
is dried through blowers for quicker drying.
5. Checking of Shirts. This step is done to ensure that all the painted shirts will
turn out as expected, excellent and with a classy result.
6. Packaging. This is the last step of the production process where in the finished
painted shirts are placed in a cloth bag as it packaging. After this, the painted
shirts can be delivered

Raw Materials
The raw materials needed in printing shirts are T-shirt and ink/paint. The
computer and printer will be used in preparing the design to be put on fabric. The
printing machine will be used in transferring the image from the computer to shirt to
produce a product. The other materials and equipment will be used in office and shop to
ensure that there will be enough facilities in the place. The cement, sand, steel and
aluminum will be the raw materials for building a shop.
Utilities
The utilities that the researchers will be using in printing service are Electricity,
Water and Fuel. Electricity in printing will serve as the source of energy to make the
computer and printing machine to function, also it will be used to sustain lights and other
electrical needs. The water will be used by employees and customers for personal
needs. Fuel is for the multicab to deliver the product to the customers.

Waste Disposal
The waste disposal for printing service should require proper waste segregation
management wherein the shop will provide a garbage bin in different kinds of waste.
The management should observe and monitor the proper segregation policy to be
implemented. The collected garbage will be dispose properly to the city’s garbage
collector truck. This will help to reduce the waste and promote an eco-friendly
environment within the shop.
