anyone else. The teacher will stand at the front, ensuring everyone can Echo Pantomime Script
see them and begin with the echo pantomime ‘Jesus and the Little
Children’ (see appendix #1).
Wonder questions:
- How did Jesus make the little children feel welcome?
- How do we know Jesus loved the little children?
- I wonder how we can make others feel welcome?

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

2 min The teacher will explain the parable of the little children. They will explain
that God’s Son, whose name is Jesus, taught us that everyone is special.
He did so by the stories he told and by the kind things he did to help
many people. Among all the people he met, Jesus loved children in a
special way. The story we just read showed us that Jesus loves and
blesses the children even when the disciples tell him not to.

Talk about how Jesus showed that everyone is special by his actions.

Wonder Question
- I wonder how I am special to Jesus?

15-20 The teacher will then introduce the activity:

mins The class create a collage a Jesus. Around the large figure of Jesus, the
children attach magazine pictures of children or children’s faces. Invite
the children to suggest a suitable title.

Each child then draws a self-portrait as they would look when Jesus
blessed them. (Building on the EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong
sense of identity)

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

The teacher will ask students to pack up the pens and paper.
5 min
The teacher will call students back to the mat.
The teacher will recite a prayer and ask the students to repeat:

“God made all of me,

My feet, my head and my hands.
God made me special,
And for me, He has great plans.”

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

The teacher will ask the students to help pack away the materials and sit
back on the mat. They will then say their lunchtime prayer before lining
up at the door ready to go to lunch.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will they be

assessed?)
The teacher will use a checklist and anecdotal notes to assess if students Appendix #2
have met objectives. They will also use questioning for understanding to Checklist
assess students knowledge. See appendix #2
