Size of Class: 30

Time: 40 minutes

Lesson Title: Obligation and permission

Equipment Needed: smartboard, whiteboard, boardmarker, paper.

OBJECTIVES
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use “have to" to express obligation, and
its negative forms.
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe how we can say our obligations
and permissions.
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to list their obligations using the structures
'have to do' and 'have not to do'.
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to list using the structures ' be allowed to'
and 'can'.
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to select a profession and write about that
profession using have to, allowed to.

Introduction;
 Teacher comes to the class and greets the students. She says “how are you?” to warm
up.
 Teacher starts to ask some questions to the students about their daily lives.
 At the same time these questions are related to the topic.
 Teacher asks the students ‘do you have any idea about the topic?’
 Students answer the questions and they say their predictions.
 Teacher wants to students to give more examples about their lives.
Teaching;
 Teacher open a slideshow on the smartboard.
 There are some information about the topic.
 There are many examples sentences related to topic.
 Teacher starts to teach the subject and
 Teacher writes the structures to the board to make them clear.

Group activity;
 Teachers divided students into groups of 5 to 6 people.
 Teacher gives instructions about the activity

In this activity,

 Teacher uses a slide to show questions to the students.


 One student from each group will answer for one question. For the second question, another
student will answer the question this time.
 Students will write the correct answer to the paper.
 Which student shows the answer firstly, this group will get the point.
 If students cannot write the right answer, teacher will explain the sentence.
 This activity continues like that.

Production activity;
In this activity

 Teacher gives instruction about the activity.


 Teacher hands out the papers to the students.
 Students will choose a profession and write sentences about that profession using have
to, allowed to.
 Finally, teacher wants to students to read their sentences.
