OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to ask about and give detailed information about at least three products they
want to buy at the grocery store using the given sentence patterns.

Complementary Reading
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to use with some support familiar print and digital resources (dictionary) to
check the meanings of the 5 words given.

ACTIVITIES: I. PRE-LESSON
Teacher shows a RM50 note and asks pupils about what can they buy with the amount.

II. LESSON

ACTIVITY 1
i. Two pupils role play a sample dialogue given. (Refer to Attachment 1)

ii. Teacher pastes strips of sentence structures on the board. (KSSM Textbook page
39 Task 4). (Refer to Attachment 2)

ACTIVITY 2 (Pair work) Think-Pair-Share


i. Pupils listen to explanation of the tasks.

You are in charge of your class party. You have RM100 to prepare for it. State what you want to buy and
give reasons for your choice. You may use the sentence structures on the board.

Pupils play “The Price is Right” where they guess the price of a product shown. The closest guess will
receive a token. (Refer to Attachment 4)

Pupil A: Hi, … I have RM50. I think I would like to prepare pasta for you and our friends who are
coming to my house this weekend.

Pupil B: Wow! That’s a lot of money. We can buy a lot of things. What do you plan to get at the
supermarket?

Pupil A: I shall need to buy some minced meat, a pack of pasta, two cans of Bolognese sauce,
some dried Oregano leaves, mushrooms and carrots.

Pupil B: Don’t forget to buy Cheddar cheese.

Pupil A: Buying imported Cheddar cheese may be too expensive, so I may get a local brand
instead. Maybe I should get a few loaves of French bread because it goes well with
pasta.

Pupil B: I shall also buy some desserts for all of us. I can’t wait for our small gathering.
