STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Inquisitive, anxious and logical since my childhood yes thats me Sunil, was born and
bought up in Dehra Dun in a middle class family. I was a average student but always
had flair to do something creative and challenging. This is the reason that I had opted
for Information Technology as my career.
During my school days I had an intuition that Information technology would be an
apt career for me keeping in mind my inherent logical aptitude. Though my parents
aspirations for me to pursue engineering but I decided to follow my instinct and
during my science graduation, I passionately started a small computer institute
within my home where a faculty used to come to teach students & I used to
troubleshoot computer at the time of technical problems and I used to see engineer
during the repair some more technical stuff & use to look for a logic reason behind
its failure. Those days, I was completely in love with technology. During these three
years, I zealously endeavoured to obtain in-depth practical knowledge in information
Technology that interested me. Due to my intense involvement in my tiny business , I
could not focus on studies but no regrets because I am a strong believer that
whatever happen in our lives has some reason behind it, now I can say may be
destiny was shaping me for the future .
I managed to fine tuned all my technical & analytical skills myself without having any
formal Education in particular. I completed my graduation in Science from HNB
Garhwal University. Meantime my tiny institute become very famous & successful in
town. One day I met my father's boss in a function, where he was telling the reason
for coming late & mentioned that he stuck because a computer engineer who has
been coming to his office for more than a month and is not able to host their official
website of Survey of India. Because I was inquisitive so I asked some questions from
him & requested him to give a chance to me to look into the matter. Next day I was
in their office and I managed to resolve the issue in just 5 minutes. He was surprised
to see my talent & gave me opportunity to look after their Web server. I was also
happy that I will get opportunity to work on Server.
Thereafter, he suggested me to open a company so that he can give an official work
order to maintain their web server. My sister-in-law was having her company & I
started taking orders on her company name. She used to look after administration
and I used to look after Sales & operation of the company. In just 2 years, I became
an entrepreneur and employed around 20 people in my business. Later, As our state
government was giving benefits to women entrepreneurs so I got my company
registered on my wife's name. Within a quick span of time we were successful in
gaining optimum response from the market & opened 2 Retail stores in the heart of
Dehra dun city and become business partner of Hewlett India.

In 2009-10 the world was struck by recession. The most badly affected field at that
time was Information Technology including my company in lack of financial liquidity.
As the profits were shrinking day by day and operating cost rose in comparison of
profits that was the time I started looking for some other options instead of caring a
dead body over the shoulders, and luckily I found one, one of the investor of our
company, who used to invest in Government projects undertaken by our company.
He gave an offer of partnership to me & one of my colleagues for setting up a resort
in Rishikesh.

He was well known of our selling & creative skills and asked us to join him and I have
been given role of General Manager Sales & marketing and he himself used to look
after Finance & administration.


I spent my days & nights to establish the property as brand in the Tourism market &
as a result we managed to achieve 3rd Rank out of 38 resorts in just 1 year of
operation. Property become famous in the market and started generating revenues.
This speedy success in just 2 years made our partner become greedier and he started
to create trouble for us in operational & administrational issues. He was financially &
politically influential personality in town and made our workings almost impossible.
It was very, very painful. The property was created passionately. We both (me & my
colleagues) were so harassed & disturbed that we decided to leave the resort and
after working there for 3 years I willingly withdrawn from the partnership. After
dissolving the partnership I decided to take up a job to fulfil my livinghood expenses
& applied at 5 star hotels and got selected in my first interview with 5 star hotel.

Meanwhile after self evaluation I consider myself a technically sound passionate sale
professional but something which is lacking is depth knowledge in the area of
business administration. Therefore, as a step ahead I decided to pursue master in the
field of Business Administration. It is better to be late than never.
It has always been my endeavour to study in the best universities and believe that
University of Auckland will give me the right exposure I require to make a mark in the
global arena. In selecting the University of Auckland, I have been influenced by the
way the course is structured which gives flexibility and at the same time gives the
opportunity to attain in-depth knowledge in specific subjects. The infrastructural
facilities complemented by its world class faculty will enhance my business skill and
strengthen my foundation for a bright and prosperous career. I choose New Zealand
as it is well known for quality education and attracts students from every nook and
corner of the world who aspire to make a bright and successful career.
This will be an ideal podium for me to interact and share my experiences with
students of different countries. I believe that post graduate study at your University
will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards
achieving my objectives. I plan to work in a corporate world after completion of my
course. Studying at University of Auckland will enhance my future job opportunities
and place me in the desired position.
I wish to relocate to New Zealand and pursue my business administration career and
satisfy my personal goals and aspirations. I am confident that I will make substantial
contribution to the my career and I strongly believe that my academic background,
work experience and skills would match the standards of your students and research
scholars. I look forward to an exciting period of post graduate program at University
of Auckland which is a crucial step in my career. I would be thankful to you if I am
given the opportunity to pursue my post graduate studies at your esteemed
university.
