The actuation of these directional control valves is through the use of AC or DC voltage solenoids. Direct operated solenoid valves push or pull directly on the spool or poppet. Another type of actuation is a pilot operted solenoid which operates by a pressure imbalance across the main poppet. Solenoid Directional Control Valves can provide: Fluid directional changes in a circuit Two-way control Normally open or normally closed Three-way control Normally open or normally closed Four-way control Normally open or normally closed Low leakage poppet style for shut off applications or directional control Pilot function for larger valves
2-Way, Solenoid Direct Operated Poppet Type, 2 Position (Normally Open or Normally Closed)
Normally Open The main poppet is held open by spring force permitting free-flow through the valve. A nonmagnetic push pin is located between the solenoid armature and the spring end of the main poppet. The electrical signal energizes the solenoid coil and pushes the armature towards the push pin. The pin forces the main poppet closed. Normally Closed The main poppet and armature are one-piece and held closed against the valve seat by spring force. The electric signal energizes the solenoid coil and pulls the armature and poppet away from the seat orifice, opening the valve and allowing flow.

2-Way, Solenoid Pilot Operated, Poppet Type, 2 Position (Normally Open or Normally Closed)
Normally Open Spring tension holds the pilot poppet away from the orifice seat on the main poppet. An axial groove on the O.D. of the main poppet allows pilot flow to pass through the poppet nose. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main poppet and causes the poppet to shift open allowing complete flow to pass through the outlet port. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature is magnetically forced to slide the push pin and pilot poppet forward. The poppet blocks pilot flow and the main poppet shifts to a completely closed position. Normally Closed Spring tension holds the pilot poppet against the main poppet and both pilot and main flow through the valve is blocked. When the solenoid coil is energized the armature is magnetically forced to pull the pilot poppet from the orifice seat and pilot flow occurs. The pilot flow creates a pressure imbalance on the main poppet and the valve shifts open.

2-Way, Solenoid Pilot Operated Spool Type, 2 Position (Normally Open or Normally Closed)
Normally Open Spring tension holds the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. An orifice in the main spool allows pilot flow to pass through the pilot seat. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool, causes the spool to shift and overcome the main section spring, allowing complete flow to pass through to the outlet port. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature is magnetically forced to slide the pilot poppet assembly forward. The pilot poppet blocks pilot flow and the main spool shifts to a completely closed position. Normally Closed Spring tension holds the pilot poppet against the pilot seat. The pilot poppet blocks pilot flow and the main spool remains closed by the main spring and blocks complete flow. When the solenoid coil is energized the armature is magnetically forced to slide the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. An orifice in the main spool allows pilot flow to pass through the pilot seat. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool and causes the main spool to shift, overcoming the main spring and allowing flow to pass through to the outlet port. Normally Open Spring force holds the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. An orifice in the main spool allows pilot flow to pass, through the pilot seat. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool and causes the spool to shift, overcoming the main section spring, and allowing inlet flow to pass through to the outlet port. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature is magnetically forced to slide the pilot poppet assembly to seat. The pilot poppet blocks pilot flow and the main spool shifts to a completely closed position. When inlet pressure exceeds the setting of valve the pilot section opens. This allows pilot flow and creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool causing it to open, allowing relief flow to the outlet port. Normally Closed Spring tension holds the pilot poppet against the pilot seat. The pilot poppet blocks pilot flow and the main spool remains closed by the main spring and blocks inlet flow. When inlet pressure exceeds the setting of the valve the pilot section opens. This allows pilot flow through the orifice in the main spool creating a pressure imbalance on the main spool causing it to open, allowing relief flow to the outlet port. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature is magnetically forced to slide the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. An orifice in the main spool allows pilot flow through the pilot seat. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool and causes the main spool to shift, overcoming the main spring and allowing flow to the outlet port.

2-Way, Solenoid Pilot Operated, Poppet Type, 2 Position (Normally Closed) with Integral Relief
Normally Closed Spring force holds the pilot poppet against the pilot seat. The pilot poppet blocks pilot flow and the main poppet remains closed by the main spring and blocks inlet flow. When inlet pressure exceeds the setting of the valve, the pilot section opens. This allows pilot flow through the orifice in the main poppet creating a pressure imbalance on the main poppet and causing it to open, allowing relief flow to the outlet port. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature is magnetically forced to slide the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. With the pilot orifice held open, pilot flow creates a pressure imbalance in the main poppet causing it to open and allowing full flow to the outlet port.

Normally Open Spring force holds the pilot poppet assembly away from the pilot seat. An orifice in the main spool allows pilot flow to pass, through the pilot seat. This flow pattern creates a pressure imbalance on the main spool and causes the spool to shift, overcoming the main section spring, and allowing inlet flow to pass through to
the outlet port.

Note: The Normally Closed valve will allow full reverse flow in the deenergized (closed) mode and is unidirectional in the energized (open) mode.

Features Excellent pressure versus flow characteristics. (7W14) Honed and matched hardened steel working parts for long life. Low leakage. High capacity. 100% performance tested.
Use and Operation To be used as a two-way directional valve in any hydraulic system with flow rates up to 305 l/min and requiring unidirectional shutoff. It can also be used as a fast responding, high capacity dump valve. One special use of this valve is to lock an actuator. By reversing the normal porting arrangement, the valve allows free-flow to an actuator. Return flow is then controlled by the solenoid operated pilot valve.
through the pilot valve, through the small check valve, to the outlet port. This flow causes a pressure drop across the orifice in the main poppet, opening the valve. When the solenoid coil is energized, the pilot valve is closed, stopping the pilot flow. The main poppet spring closes the poppet and flow is blocked with reverse flow, the main poppet acts as a free-flow check valve.
Normally Closed Solenoid The valve works in the same manner as normally open, except that the solenoid is normally closed and is energized to permit flow.
Materials Body High-strength aluminium alloy. Internal parts Hardened steel. Cartridge Steel. Seals Viton A standard.
Normally Open Solenoid The spring force holds the pilot poppet away from its seat, allowing pilot flow to pass through the pilot valve. The main poppet is held closed against its seat by a spring. An orifice in the main poppet allows flow to pass from the inlet port,

Specificatopms To 230 l/min and 210 bar. Reseat pressure is 90% of setting. Weight: 1,41 kg. Features Lockwired for tamper resistance. Excellent pressure versus flow characteristics. High capacity. Honed and matched hardened steel working parts for long life. Adjustable with min. & max. stops. 100% performance tested. Use and Operation Used to limit system pressure even under conditions of widely varying flow. For use in circuits which require relief protection and a solenoid vent feature for unloading system flow to tank. The external vent port can be referenced to either a remote pilot section for two pressure systems, or to an external directional valve to allow manual pump unloading.
The valve consists of a main section spool, relief pilot section and a two-way normally closed or normally open solenoid. The main section spool spring chamber is referenced to tank through either the pilot section, the two-way solenoid or the optional vent port. When the spring chamber is referenced to tank, pilot flow across the main section spool causes a pressure imbalance and the spool shifts open allowing inlet flow to tank. When used as a conventional relief valve, the solenoid is closed. When inlet pressure exceeds the valve setting the main section spool opens allowing relief flow to tank. The solenoid vent feature allows system flow to be unloaded to tank at a minimum pressure drop. When the normally closed solenoid is energized, pilot flow is bypassed around the relief pilot section to tank and the main section spool is vented fully open unloading inlet flow at low pressure (see curve).
If a normally open solenoid is used, the main spool shifts open and continuously unloads inlet flow to tank until the solenoid is energized. When the solenoid is energized, it closes and blocks pilot flow causing the main section spool to close. Remote Operation: A two pressure system is created by connecting a remote pilot section (set at less than main relief setting and isolated by a two-way valve) to the external vent port. The main section opens when inlet pressure reaches the setting of the remote pilot valve. The vent port can also be connected to a manual two-way valve. When the two-way valve is opened, the main section is vented and inlet flow is unloaded to tank. Materials Body High-strength aluminium alloy. Cartridges Steel. Internal parts Hardened steel. Features These coils are interchangeable for all Fluid Controls solenoid valves except those in the 400 Series. Continuous duty coils. All configurations (except pigtail style) have one piece compact encapsulated design. This provides greater heat dissipation and environmental protection from moisture, oil dirt, dust and fungus. UL recognition for 12, 24 and 36 VDC coils with G, D and S style connections. Explosion Proof Solenoids per Mine Safety & Health Administration Schedule 2G available on special request. AC coils contain a full wave bridge rectifier rated for reverse voltage peaks of 1000 Volts Maximum. This is adequate for most systems. If voltage transients in your system are greater than 1000 Volts P.I.V., voltage transient suppressors such as metal oxide varistors should be added in parallel with the coil.
