8 Instructional Groupings: whole group, small group, partners, quads, homogeneous Standards: Self- Directional, Critically and Problem Solving, Collaboration and Communication, Informational , MA8.A.1.1, MA.8.A.1.2, MA.8.A.1.3, MA.8.1.4 Materials: Text, Web, Khan Academy, Workbook, Notebook, Calculator, Pencil, Promethean, Individual White Boards/ erasers , grid paper Essential Questions: What do the slope and x- or y- intercepts indicate about a linear equation? What is a constant of variation in a direct variation? What is slope intercept form? What is standard form? Objective: Monday- TSWBAT Direct Variation Tuesday-TSWBAT graph and write equations into Slope- Intercept Form. Wednesday- TSWBAT graph and write equations into Slope- Intercept Form. Thursday- TSWBAT Graph a function using the x- and y- intercepts.

Vocab- slope, system of equations, slope- intercept forms, standard form, yintercept, direct variation, constant of variation, k = y/x, y = kx, y= mx + b, yintercept, x- intercept Procedure: Monday- Students will be introduced to direct variation on text page 169- 173. Students will identify proportional or non - proportional linear graphs. Complete examples on board. Tuesday- Students will be introduced to slope intercept form. Students will practice putting equations into slope intercept form y= mx + b. Students will complete examples on individual white boards using exercises on text page 178 (7-30). Wednesday- Students will continue to practice writing equations (and graph) into slope intercept form. Students will use white boards given examples on promethean. Thursday- Students will be introduced how to interpret the slope and the x- and yintercepts when graphing a linear problem. Students will watch an instructional video from teachertube.com . Students will practice using the exercises on page 183 in text.

Closure Activity/Wrap up: This may be in the form of independent practice, a chance to share, or explicit restatement of the goals of the lesson. Monday- Workbook pages 48- 49 Tuesday- Workbook pages 50- 51 Wednesday- Workbook page 52/worksheet. Thursday- Workbook page 53
