This document outlines a two-day 7th/8th grade mathematics lesson plan on finding the slope of a line. On the first day, students will learn about slope, rise, run, and how to calculate slope using two points and the slope formula. They will work in pairs to practice these concepts. The second day, students will use technology like Inspiration to create their own lesson demonstrating their understanding of slope and how it applies to real-world situations. The teacher will assess student understanding through a post-assessment and by grading their technology-based presentations.

Lesson Idea Name: How to find the slope of the line.
Content Area: Mathematicas. Grade Level(s): 7/8 grade mathematics. Content Standard Addressed: Working with the student to develop the knowledge of different methods of finding the slop of the line through the use of graph, the slope of the line formula, and the use of two points. MGSE8.EE.5 Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in diverse ways. Define, evaluate, and compare functions. MGSE8.F.3 Interpret the equation y = mx + b as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function A = s2 giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line. MGSE8.EE.6 Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a nonvertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation y = mx for a line through the origin and the equation y = mx + b for a line intercepting the vertical axis at b.
Technology Standard Addressed: Empowered Learner and Knowledge Constructor.
Selected Technology Tool: Inspiration. URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable): N/A. I have attached a copy of file slope_of_the _line.isf Blooms Taxonomy Level(s): Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating
Using inspiration, I will present the relationship between the set of points (1 , 1 ) (2 ,2 ). Students will work on finding the relationship between two points and will try to show the slope of the line, if it is a positive of negative slop based on their answers from using the slop of the line equation. I will present the inspiration as a tutorial lesson in class and I will be instructing the student to work in pair to practice the concept. The following day students need to find a way using inspiration or other softwares to show and present their understanding of the concept using technology. We are going to work on the concept for two days. The first, I will present the information using inspiration to show the relationship between the x and y intercepts. I also, will be working on explaining the mathematical terminology like rise and run and what they stand for. At the first day students will work in pairs to find the relationship between rise over run and what each one of them stands for. The second day students will work with technology to show their understanding of the concept by creating their own lesson idea about finding the slop of the line and they will try to find a relationship between the slop of the line and the real-world application. Students should be able to show why and where the slope of the line is important to be applicable in real-world. This way I can show the level of students understanding of the concept. I will conclude my lesson by asking students if they have any question on the concept we have learned. The feedback will be based on post assessment and the grading of their presentation about the slop of the line.
