**It's a simple formula: Magical power equals political power…**
Sparks are flying between researcher Anne Crosby and no less than nine men--but it's not what you think. Whenever these nine amnesiacs touch anyone, electrical mayhem results. More surprising: all of them have dust instead of blood in their veins, even though they're quite alive. It's Anne's job to track down who and what these men are, even though she takes a dim view of the supernatural.
Her research takes Anne to Russia and the discovery of the devastating magical source behind the former Soviet Union's power--a source the resurrected KGB wants back. Anne must stop them, and they'll do anything to stop her.
A voracious reader since she was a toddler, and an ordained spiritualist, Tonya Cannariato has now presided over the marriage of her love of reading and her love of writing. She’s lived a nomadic life, following first her parents in their Foreign Service career through Africa, Europe, and Asia, and then her own nose criss-crossing America as she’s gotten old enough to make those choices for herself. She’s currently based in the Washington, DC area with her four loves: her husband and three Siberian Huskies. She suspects her Huskies of mystical alchemy with their joyous liberation of her muse and other magical beings for her inspiration. She loves to sleep, to watch her interesting dreams, some of which are now finding new life in written form.
Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is an awesome 5-Star paranormal book.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters are well written, the story has so much detail and a great storyline.
Anne is sent to Russia to research and find out how some men have amnesia and other symptoms that point to the paranormal. Throughout the book, Anne’s life is in danger with each step closer to discovering what happened with these men.
The secondary character are just as great as Anne’s character and interesting to read about as well. Overall this book is a great first book for me from this author, there are dragons, witches, danger and romance. This story is very unique and different from what I normally read, and I have to say, I’m loving it. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Dust to Blood is a paranormal fantasy by Tonya Cannariato and the first book in the Red Slaves Series (cliff-hanger warning!). Anne is a researcher sent by her think tank to investigate nine orphans with mysterious powers. As her research unfolds she is forced to question everything she thought she knew. This book was wildly imaginative, a unique story that will hook you from the start. I really enjoyed the mythology and the author does an amazing job describing the fantasy elements so you feel like you are living the story. This was my first book by Tonya Cannariato and it won't be my last, I look forward to the rest of this series!
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
This was an exciting and intriguing read! I really enjoyed it!
Anne Crosby is a fantastic character. I liked her very much. She is a no nonsense, cynical person, who is methodical and thorough in her approach to her job. However, when her boss sends her to Russia to investigate a strange phenomenon, little does she know what awaits her.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book, but I was completely sucked in from the first page! There is a lot of mystery and suspense that kept me turning the pages. The story is told from Anne's point of view, and I loved how the author set this book in Russia. Her description of the environs were exceedingly detailed; I felt like I was actually there! I liked meeting the nine men, who shared three names between them: Ivan, Vasily and Fyodor; They are a complete mystery, but compelling. There are also some other great characters that kept the story interesting. Igor Straslavski is a Russian businessman, and associate of Anne's boss. I liked him very much; he's extremely paranoid, but it is justified! Olga is a librarian and an ex-KGB trainee, but I really liked her. Natasha is a witch, but I was a bit ambivalent about her character. The ending has an intriguing twist that surprised me - "There be dragons in them there hills!". I just wish they had figured more prominently from the start!
Tonya Cannariato has written a thrilling and suspenseful paranormal fantasy that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I recommend this book if you love urban fantasy and/or paranormal genres, or books with witches and/or dragons in them! - Lynn Worton
Anne Crosby is a researcher, sent to Russia by a rich and erratic boss to look into dragons, of all things. Anne is understandably cynical, until she and her research assistant discover the existence of nine orphans who confess to have few memories of their past, and oh....bleed dust instead of blood. Romance and destiny are in the air when Anne feels a strange, alluring connection to one of the orphans.
She recommits to finding the truth about the dragons, but she's not alone in her quest. The KGB is making a new run for infamy, and they'd sure like dragons on their side to do it.
Dust to Blood is a pleasing fantasy adventure. Tonya Cannariato gives Anne a strong voice and a decent backbone before sending her protagonist on a dangerous search for answers that will take her all over Russia and through plenty of twists and turns.
I enjoyed watching the adventure unfold through Anne's eyes. She is a likable protagonist who doesn't at first realize just how deeply she is involved in the mystery she's trying to solve. Cannariato keeps the pace strong and blends tension and romance well.
Believability becomes a factor in the last quarter of the book as Anne's situation gets more and more precarious and strange. I had some difficulty swallowing the ease in which Anne accepts world-changing discoveries that forever alter the essence of who she is.
On the whole, Dust to Blood is a strong an exotic story that will keep fantasy adventure readers hooked in its talons.
(This book was provided to Compulsion Reads for review by the author.)
Big Thanks to Tonya Cannariato for giving me this ebook to review.
Anne Crosby, a 35 year old Researcher for the "Stone Think Tank" is tasked to go to Russia and Research Dragons. She meets her research partner, Igor, and determines that the Dragon's are truly these "Lost Boys" who bleed Red Dust (and have no memory before a certain time). Leading to a vast KGB conspiracy and finding information about who the "Lost Boys" are.
Anne is a loner type and is very stuck up. Luckily her character seems to unravel a little bit. Although I find it surprising that she isn't freaking out more often during the book. I would personally be yelling at Igor constantly due to his Pig-Headed anti-women views. It seems almost all the men in Russia are A-Holes.
I enjoyed the fantasy and sad reality of Russia in the described "September 1992" timeline. Hoping that it really isn't as horrible as the author has described.
Meeting the Characters, Natasha and the Lost Boys, was unique. I wish I was able to read more about the Lost Boys and Ivan particularly. Having a bigger and possibly more romantic (sexual tension) scene between Anne and Ivan would have raised my 4 to a 5.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series. :)
My penname was given this book as a thank you. I wanted to review it on this account though because I want to relate it to another book I've read recently. The Prodigal's Foole is similar to Dust to Blood. Both find magic in a religious/political framework. Dust to Blood is a tad slow out of the gates and seems to jump very abruptly into the magic from a scientific pursuit. However, it is also engaging and frames itself very well in Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakh. None of these are areas I'm familiar with, and that did pose a bit of a problem for me at first. I set the book down a lot in the opening chapters, but after the first 70 pages, I was definitely coming back.
I wouldn't bill this as a fantasy, although it has fantastical elements. I wouldn't call it paranormal, although there are definite unnatural forces. I wouldn't call it science fiction as the science is all very real. Perhaps it could be call an urban fantasy even though it isn't set in a city...
Regardless of lacking a nice genre label, Dust to Blood is a good read and promises sequels. I recommend it.
Dust to Blood is the first book in The Red Slaves series by Tonya Cannariato and it is a paranormal fantasy suspense novel. The story starts in September of 1992, and it is about a 35 year old woman named Anne Crosby, who is a researcher for a man named Sam Stone, who owns a premier private research company called the Stone Think Tank, out of their Chicago office. Sam sends Anne all over the world to do research for him since she is his best researcher. Anne was brought up by her mom, has one sister who has two daughters, and they have never known their father. Her sister is also a single parent. Anne is very happy being a career woman and has never expected that she would ever have a long-term romantic relationship, especially with her family's bad history of relationships with men. Anne is sent by Sam to Moscow to meet up with his long-time friend, Igor Straslavski, to do research on dragons as a favor to Igor, even though Anne doesn't believe in dragons. Sam gives Anne an open-ended airplane ticket because he thinks that she could be in Moscow for up to 6 months, which has Anne concerned since spending Thanksgiving with her family has always been important to her. Anne will be meeting “some real men who have real amnesia and other verified symptoms that point to the paranormal.”
After Anne arrives in Moscow she meets up with Igor shortly thereafter, and she ends up staying in his Dacha. Anne does some research in a library in Moscow, and meets a woman named Olga, who is a former KBG agent and they become friends. Igor soon takes her to meet with the one of the men, who are orphans, who have real amnesia. His name is Ivan Krempenski, and when Anne shakes hands with him she gets an electrical shock strong enough to get tingles down her arm. Ivan is the oldest of the nine men, or “lost boys”. Igor translates between the two of them, since Anne only knows a bit of Russian that she learned when she was in college. Ivan takes out a knife and stabs his finger, causing a fine reddish dust to filter from his finger. Anne stares at Ivan's finger and is fascinated by the sight of the reddish dust leaving Ivan's finger. Igor states that Ivan has bled many times but without blood. Ivan also has very strong teeth which doesn't make any sense since he is an orphan who has lived forty years in Russia, and he even shows them to Anne. Ivan tells Anne that he doesn't know who or what he is, and he and his brothers want to get some answers. What other mysteries will Anne discover during her research?
I really enjoyed this book by Tonya Cannariato. It has a lot of really interesting characters with interesting background stories and I never knew what would happen next. The novel is a cliffhanger and I'm really excited to read what else Anne discovers. I definitely recommend this book!
Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is the first book in her new series Red Slaves, and what a fantastic hit out of the park in the fantasy/paranormal realm. Following the story of Anne Crosby on her investigation of the nine amnesiacs and how their torture is connected to their dust blood. With this dust blood they have more strength, intelligence and electricity than anyone could have believed. The torture of these men put Anne and her investigation into dangers path more than once, making her look over shoulder at every turn. The more danger that comes Anne’s way, she finds herself turning toward Ivan, one of the nine amnesiacs, and things start to get complicated. Can Anne find out who is out to get these young men without getting herself or Ivan killed? Is Ivan being truthful about everything that happened to him and the eight others? As things start to get hot and heavy between Ivan and Anne they will have to work together to get out of Russia in one piece and keep their relationship alive. There is allot going on in this book, and while it pulls you in, there are several twists and turns that will have you flipping pages back and forth trying to keep up to pace with this one! Cannariato is a new to me author, but I have fallen hard for her writing style. Her story telling is full bodied and gives a plethora of detail about her terrain as well as the people and mysteries of her storyline. Having this story set in Russia was interesting because you could tell that she really did her research and gave the reader an in-depth understand of everything from the politics to the backdrop around them. I would have liked to have some more dialogue between the characters to give a little better insight into their thought processes and their interactions. If you are looking for an in-depth look into Russia with a great supernatural story attached to it, this is one to add to your cart today. I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here because it is only looking up from here.
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book 1) By: Tonya Cannariato 5 out of 5 stars
The story Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book 1) by Tonya Cannariato is a fantasy/paranormal book. I loved reading this story and found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the final page. It takes you on a journey that includes danger and magic. Anne Crosby finds herself in Russia investigating who nine amnesiacs are and why even though they are alive have dust for blood. Where did these men come from? As she travels she makes discoveries that cause her life to be in jeopardy. She begins to realize that magic and the paranormal may not be a myth. The list of those she can trust is short. Will Anne be able to keep one step ahead of those who want to keep a magical power for themselves? They will do anything to stop her. Will she survive? This is a book that has plenty of action and had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I loved the character of Anne. She is finding herself quickly become paranoid on this investigation and not without good reason. She is resourceful and uses every tool to her advantage in order to find the truth. I also enjoyed reading about the characters who help and support Anne. This is the first book that I have read by the author and it will not be the last. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to find out where the story goes next.
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves) by Tonya Cannariato was a interesting read, with an engaging plot with a original concept, and tons of potential.
Lets get down to it. As far as the overall story, it was good, wasn't epic like I was expecting but it was good. It made for a light read that was easy to follow and a good book to ease me out of the crazy crime novel I had finished before hand. There are some things that I wasn't too keen on. There was at times a lack of proper dialogue. Lulls you could say, and it gave me that awkward feeling. It broke the flow, and made the story fell, for me, choppy. Outside of that, the plot and the characters were quite put together.
I will highlight that I loved the detail that went into the world building. Rich and engaging, it made me feel like I was right there with them. I also like the mystery surrounding the 9, though I did at times had a time following their names. But that's a me thing, not a book thing. I found their creation, and purpose to the story unique and intriguing. Now, I think this is a RH, it sort of reads like one, but I'm still on the fence about that. I'll just have to keep reading to get my answers.
With that said, I will leave you with my recommendation that you will get lost in this otherworldly tale of finding the supernatural, and learning that anything is possible, and anything could be real.
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves book 1) by Tonya Cannariato 5 out of 5 stars Dust to Blood is the first book in the Red Slaves series written by Tonya Cannariato and the first book that I have read by this author. So, I started reading book two before book one by mistake and I was like very confused about the story. So, I put book two down and read book one and it was amazing the characters are easy going with the right spunk especially for this paranormal/shifter romance story. The way this author described some of the location in this story was amazing and so detailed. Anne Crosby research takes her to Russia and the discovery of the devastating magical source behind the former Soviet Union's power a source the resurrected KGB wants back. Anne must stop them, and the KGB will do anything to stop her. Researcher Anne Crosby feels Sparks flying between and no less than nine men but it's not what you think. Whenever these nine amnesiacs touch anyone, electrical mayhem results. More surprising: all of them have dust instead of blood in their veins, even though they're quite alive. It's Anne's job to track down who and what these men are, even though she takes a dim view of the supernatural. This was an amazing read and I going back to reading book two to find out what’s happening with my favorite researcher and the nine men. By Tracy
Dust to Blood is the first book in the Red Slaves series by Tonya Cannariato. This is my first novel by this author.
Researcher Anne Crosby travels to Russia to find out why nine men have dust instead of blood is running in their veins.
Anne discovers that Russia has some buried secrets which puts her and her partner at Igor at risk. With people wanting their secrets to stay buried, she isn't sure who to trust, or if the research she is there for, is more than it seems.
I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the plot was original and nothing I've seen before. The characters were easily relateable and I did enjoy the lighthearted moments sprinkled in.
There an a lot of suspenseful moments with action and plot development that left me on the edge of my seat. The narrative drew me in and had a flow to it, that felt magical in the way it was written and the world building.
While Russia isn't a country I'm familiar with, it took me some time to get use to the description that was given. Sometimes, I’d even look it up online to get a clearer picture, which is also different and added to the experience of reading.
I look forward to continuing this series. I recommend to someone looking for a different paranormal series.
This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading anything by Tonya Cannariato. I have to say, it won’t be my last either. Not only was this a great novel, but it is the first of a new series and ends on one heck of a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one available! This book has a lot going on in it and really pulls you in from the get-go. I loved how connected I felt to the characters, and how real they were written. A bonus is that this was unexpected for me, I normally choose novels based on covers a lot of the time, because well, I do. This one, not so hot, but that synopsis though, it drew me in and I am glad that it did. I love paranormal stories and I am really happy that this was one I gave a chance.
Anne is our main gal here and she is off to Russia for a research project. She is tasked with investigating nine orphans that have displayed powers that are unexplainable. When her research gets underway she is faced with things that force her to question everything she once thought she knew. The world building here is wonderful and draws you into the story as if you were right there with Anne as she experiences these things that happen. I was never bored with this novel and am highly anticipating what will come next!
Dust to Blood is the first book in the Red Slaves Series by Tonya Cannariato. I was quite surprised that this story had so much going on in it, and not what I was expecting-but in a good way. This is a paranormal/fantasy with some action, mystery, drama, suspense, dragons, witches, the KGB, and a touch of romance. The story has surprises, twists and had me avidly reading right from the beginning. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Cannariato, and I can confidently say that it certainly won’t be the last. Anne Crosby finds herself in a very intriguing situation. There are nine mysterious amnesiacs all in the same mindboggling situation and it becomes her job to investigate and unravel the mystery surrounding them. As the story unfolds the developments make for really great reading. I really wasn’t expecting that, and I thought it was quite brilliant on the authors part. The story is creative, imaginative and unique. The characters are very interesting, well developed and individual. Ms. Cannariato has produced a wonderful, polished story that kept me captivated the whole way through. I am looking forward to the second book!
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book#1) Tonya Cannariato 4 out of 5 stars
Dust to Blood is an intriguing fantasy written by Tonya Cannariato. Tonya is a new author for me but her writing style I loved. Her attention to detail about Russia and the culture is amazing and makes the story more connectable. I loved the adventure, magical powers, and danger. Anne Crosby is a researcher sent to Russia by her job to investigate dragons. Anne’s research partner Igor introduces her to the Lost boys. The lost boys are 9 boys who have amnesia for the last 5 years, and who have dust not blood in veins. Anne realize nothing is what it seems! The KGB is on her trail making sure the secrets stay secrets. Danger and Magic! Dust to Blood is full of adventure, Tonya writing slowly pulls you into the story page by page until you are totally intrigued and can’t put the book down. I enjoyed the paced of the story the beginning starts off a little slow but it’s a lot to take in. The story is full of suspense and fantasy and will keep readers hooked. I highly recommend you read Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato.
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book 1) by Tonya Cannariato is the first book in her Red Slaves series. This is a paranormal story that is engaging and easy flowing. This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it until the end. Her attention to details made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. Her characters are creative, connectable and relatable. I enjoyed how some were dragons and witches. They took me on some twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what will happen next. This book is about Annie. Annie is a researcher who is sent to Russia to figure out who and what 9 men are. What she discovers is more then she was expecting. I enjoyed how this story was told in Annie's point of view. I think it helped make her character more real. She made the story fast paced and kept the mystery in the story. The secondary characters were just as engaging and help make the story flow. I highly suggest this book. Will Annie figure out this mystery and who these men are?
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves) By Tonya Cannariato 4 stars
I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was an interesting and intriguing read and absolutely not what I was expecting. This was my first read by this author and also something a little out of my comfort zone. I found the authors writing style to be really engaging and my interest was kept throughout. Her descriptions of Russia were great and I could imagine what I was reading. I really liked Anne, I thought that she was a strong character who and definitely didn’t take any nonsense. I actually liked the unique storyline that the author had created was really exciting to read. I loved the mystery and suspense that was mixed in with paranormal elements. It was nice to read something so unique and unpredictable. I will admit I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I have in other stories it definitely didn’t take away from my enjoyment of what I was reading. I will definitely be looking forward to reading the next books in the series. I am certainly looking forward to more twists and turns!!
Dust To Blood by Tonya Cannariato is the first book in her Red Slaves series. An intricate story of supernatural power and mystery. Imagine feeling a spark between you and someone. Now imagine feeling that spark for nine different men. That is exactly the situation Anne finds herself. However there is more than play than chemistry. Mystical amnesiacs with dust running through their veins it is Anne’s job to find out what they are - and where they are. Her journey takes her far and wide. And when she runs in to forces with a mystical connection Anne will have to fight even harder.
This wasn’t an author or a series I knew anything about until I started reading this book but I am glad I found it. The book has an intriguing story that was well written. I liked Anne’s character and the journey she takes throughout the story. I found this story to be unique and not like anything I had read before. I am looking forward to seeing what else this series has to offer.
I give Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book 1) by Tonya Cannariato, 4 stars.
Anne is sent on a mission from her boss to Russia to investigate a weird occurrence. Something about orphaned men not remembering years of their lives. He looks for all the crazy stories and she has to to see what's going on. Besides, she's always wanted to go to Russia. But this takes her on a crazy ride involving strange men, ex-KGB who always seem to be after her, and things she cannot explain.
This was an interesting book and like nothing I've read before. The story is interesting and quite different. I will admit that I had a hard time connecting with Anne, but maybe that's just me. Also, there were terms and words mentioned that I did not know what they were, since I do not know anything about Russian culture of history. But other than that, the story was very good and I cannot wait to see where else this story takes us.
Red Slaves book one: Dust to Blood written by Tonya Cannariato. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this story. The characters were interesting and with so many that you never had a full moment it was also a small enough group that you didn’t get confused by who and what happened. Dust to Blood was a nice change in pace for me while I like fantasy and mythical stories this one was the perfect mixture of present day mixed with some magic. The main character Anne is on a mission for her boss to uncover facts, as someone who loves reading and research she decides even if she doesn’t believe in the story itself it’s a free trip to Russia and she can’t pass it up. Once she gets there though and starts to uncover secrets she realizes things are always so black and white and right now her life is in the grey area. With a new life ahead of her can she figure out what she needs to before it’s too late? Book two in the series is Red Slaves.
A very interesting book! I really liked how detailed it was throughout and how it was very well explained. This was essential as some parts of the narrative are difficult to understand because the story is quite complex. I really liked how it was in first person narrative through Anne’s perspective as this gave a more personal insight into the story and meant that the reader was able to understand her character further. I enjoyed reading this book as it was clear so much work had gone into it in terms of the amazing amount of detail on every single page which I really appreciated. I also really enjoyed the building of mystery throughout the book and how while Anne is investigating/researching and uncovering new things, the reader is doing this alongside her. Overall, if you’re looking for a captivating story which you can get lost in; this is the one for you!
I love and am absolutely obsessed with dragons and this book really hit the nail on the head for me. I really like this authors take on dragons. I also liked the setting as not many books are set in Russia. I found this book to be quite refreshing and unique and a good easy read. There was just enough drama and action in this book to keep me glued to the pages to see what would happen next.
The bond between Ivan and Anne is quite a unique one. The author has really brought her fictional world to life and also keeps you glued to the pages. The way in which the author twists her tale ensnares the reader so that you feel as though you are the character and that every that happens is happening to you at the same time. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.
Dust to Blood (Red Slaves Book 1) by Tonya Cannariato is a supernatural/ fantasy novel following Anne, a researcher trying to discover the truth behind the nine amnesiacs that she has become acquainted with. This book is filled with action, drama, suspense, mystery, and even a touch of romance. Anne’s character is fun to read and the way the story is written really pulls you in and puts you in her shoes. The author takes her time to really build a world around her characters to interact with and watching them grow was a real treat. Each part of this story pulls you further into a book world you don’t want to leave. The author thought of every detail making for a well-rounded story that has a good flow. This book is a solid four star read and I am definitely going to look into reading the rest of the series.
Strong female protagonist? Check. Paranormal Twist? Check. Story set in an ancient world? Check.
Meet Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is an intriguing story about a 35-year-old researcher from Chicago, who is sent to Moscow, Russia to investigate (9) orphans who have come to surface – but what's the most intriguing is the fact that instead of having blood run through their veins, they have actual... dust.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I love a good paranormal read. And I'm glad that I came across Tonya and her writing style. She managed to capture my attention and maintain it throughout the entire storyline. I definitely enjoyed the characters, and the way in which they were developed. I have to say that I definitely consider this a 4 Star Book!
Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is a paranormal story that I really enjoyed. This story is very unique and is full of magic, witches and dragons and of course lots of drama and danger. The characters are well written and the plot makes it an enjoyable and interesting read with lots of mystery and twists and turns. This story will grab at you and Tonya’s imagination, the mythology and the fantasy elements makes it so you feel like you are living their world. Russia, the KGB and mythical men lead to some interesting discoveries. The closer they get to discovering what is going on the more they are in danger. I can’t wait to see what happens next and I look forward to reading more from this author.
On a scale of 1-5, I have to rate Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato 4 stars. It was definitely a read well outside my comfort zone but a great read, nonetheless.
Tonya Cannariato does an excellent job at providing us with extraordinary detail, enough to take us on a paranormal journey with our main character, Anne. Within the first chapter we are presented with the main point of the story, being the purpose of the journey we are about to induce with Anne. From that moment as a reader it gave me the anticipation to want to turn the next page. It was a quick and easy read as you want to know what’s gonna happen in the end. I cannot wait to read the rest of the Red Slaves series. Very satisfied and Miss. Cannariato gained a fan.
Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is the first book in the Red Slaves series. Ms. Cannariato has created characters and scenery that you will fall in love with. You can see the world through the descriptive verbiage that Ms. Cannaritao creates for you. This story has all the good ingredients for a good supernatural story; action, mystery, drama, dragons, witches, and maybe some romance if you are pay attention. This story is about Anne who is in a bit of situation. Around her there is nine amnesiacs who all are in the situation Anne finds herself in. Anne's is to lurk around and see what she can figure out the mystery. What information will Anne come up with?
This story reads like a long research document so be prepared. It took me a while to really get into this story. I did enjoy some parts. Its very long winded and its more explaining than anything else. There wasn’t enough conversation between the characters so you don’t really get a sense of who everyone is. The author does have a great plot it was just too much information and not enough interaction with characters. I liked the dragon parts and the characters learning about the dragons history. With how they came to be prisoners and on the run. Will be reading the next book to see what happens next
Dust to Blood by Tonya Cannariato is the first in the Red Slaves series. The story is a paranormal fantasy wild ride. Anne Crosby is a researcher from the States. Her research takes her to Russia and she encounters something she could not have imagined. This is an interesting combination of genres paranormal, fantasy and science fiction. The story is well thought out and had me wondering what would happen next. Anne is an interesting, strong, and curious woman which kept me reading further. I believe that this is a great start to a new series for me and I look forward to reading further to see where the story goes.
First book I've read from this author and I didn't want to put it down! Anne is sent to Russia to investigate lost orphans who've been found. While there she finds out there's more going on then she was aware of. The author is so descriptive the reader feels like they're there, also makes you want to see the places - well most - for real. There's a lot going on but to me that keeps your attention and makes you want to keep reading. I can't wait to find out what's next. You get an idea of parts of what's coming but with the KGB around you never know what'll come!
