This report presents the findings
from a research study concern in using the stone
material as a main material of Amman city
building during past until present. What this paper
seeks to do is to study this fantastic material
which has improves its varied properties and it’s a
spatial character by considering it as the oldest
material used by man in construction and
building. Amman is famous for its extensive use
of building stone; refer to the geographic and
topographic nature as a city surrounded by seven
mountains. The research will start with a historical
overview from old ages until present and
examples will be mentioned for using it in several
civilizations which bass by Amman city.
Jordanians architects have a varied uses of stone
material and it was depending on the evolution of
architectural language and technical development,
each one of them has different concept and
different way, like Wadah Al-Abedi, Farouk
Yaghmour , Rasem badran and Imad Al-Dabbas.
The research came out with a sort of conclusion
points, which judge the local treatment for using
stone material on our Ammanis building.

Pervious concrete is a new concrete with high porosity which usually used for flat work applications in order to allow water to pass through it, and by that it reduces the volume of direct water runoff from a site and increases the quality of storm water and water pollution. Due to the high flow rate of water through Pervious concrete pavement, rainfall can be captured and percolate into the ground, recharging groundwater, supporting sustainable construction, reducing storm-water runoff, and providing a solution for construction that is sensitive to environmental concerns. In urban areas especially where the land is very expensive, Pervious concrete pavement and its sub-base may provide a good amount of water storage capacity which eliminates the need for precipitation runoff containment strategies. This study examines the advantages of using such material to maximize storm-water, minimize flooding and improve water filtration in Jordan by replacing a selected parking lot area in the University of Jordan campus with Pervious concrete. The findings of this research support that using Pervious surfaces in storm-water management is a sustainable and yet environment friendly way of water-storming.

Most of the Web search engines were developed in the United States and designed for information retrieval (IR) in the English language. With the exponential expansion of the World Wide Web, IR in languages other than English has become increasingly important. Arabic is a language that has been experiencing immense growth on the internet. Many studies have evaluated the IR capabilities of both Arabic and multilingual search engines, but most of the studies are around 15 years old. No recent study has examined present-day search engines with respect to Arabic IR and drawn a parallel to past research. This is where this paper focuses: the first section compares IR search results from 2004 and March 2014 from the three market-dominant search engines Google, Bing and Yahoo Maktoob. Along with an analysis of indexed keywords on the first search results page, this section compares present and past IR performance and investigates how indexing and stemming have changed over this decade. The second section of this paper investigates how the search engines deal with spelling variants of transliterated foreign names, different types of common misspellings, and improper word division, as well as the typographical effect of the Kashida. The section also gives attention to the availability and efficiency of search support tools, such as auto-correction and auto-suggestion.

With the birth of the internet in the 1990’s, society grew used to turn to the internet as first port of information. Search engines play a major role in finding the desired information among the billions of websites available and are one of the most used services online. The effectiveness of search engines has already been evaluated in numerous studies and under many different aspects. However, only few studies touch upon search engine evaluation from a user perspective, and even less studies from a user perspective of speakers of a specific language. This study aims at shedding more light on search engine usage from the perspective of Arab users. A survey made among 70 Arab students in Jordan reveals new aspects of search behavior and user satisfaction. The study assesses the frequency of search engine usage, preferred search engines, and user priorities for search engine selection. It investigates language preferences such as search language and search engine language interface, and user opinion on the quality of English search results versus Arabic search results. User satisfaction with search engine results, contentment with first page search results as well as the perceived necessity for several searches and query paraphrasing are being discussed. Some of these aspects are being examined in this study for the first time. Where possible, the study draws parallels to comparable international research as well as to the few available studies on Arab users.

The study aims to investigate the relationship between the academic achievement of computerized tests and traditional pen and paper exams of Business College students at the University of Jordan-Aqaba branch as well as relate differences results to students` gender. The study sample comprised 136 students of a compulsory course at the Business Faculty. A computerized mid-term test was held while the final one was traditional. The results of the two tests were compared where the other general factors affecting students` academic achievement, namely (the same students, course subject, course subject lecturer) were set. The tests marks were sampled as percentage to the test mark so as to delete the denominator difference of marks where the mid-term mark is out of 30 while the final test is out of 50. The SPSS was used to compare the results of the two tests. Results were related to students' gender, whether gender-related differences are found. The study concluded that there is no statistical significant relationship between the academic achievement of computerized tests and traditional ones (paper and pen) held at the Business College in The University of Jordan-Aqaba branch. The results also indicated that the academic achievement differences resulting from computerized tests have to do with the student gender variable in favor of male students.

Carl Gustav Jung, el fundador suizo de este término, ha dejado claro que no se trata de "representaciones" heredadas, sino de "posibilidades" heredadas de representaciones. Tampoco son herencias individuales, sino, en lo esencial, generales, como se puede comprobar por ser los arquetipos un fenómeno universal (Jung, 1991:66).

This study aimed to explore writing problems among undergraduate students at the university level, based on students self reporting technique and the verification from their teachers’ ratings.  Twenty-eight students were considered good candidates for this research using two criteria of self reporting and high means of responses. Twenty-five faculty members teaching the previous sample were asked to fill in a similar survey conveying the current level of writing for the selected student. Results revealed four categories of handwriting problem; handwriting, sentence structure, vocabulary and spelling, and written expression. In addition, high agreement of written language problems from the perspective of both students and faculty members were also observed. A discussion of the results and implications for written language problems at the University of Jordan are provided.

In this paper, the results of the national poll regarding the government of Dr. Hani Al-Mulqi, carried out by the Center for Strategic Studies, are presented.

The results of the national sample indicate that only 31% of respondents believe that things are moving in the right direction, compared with 41% in the October 2017 survey, which is down ten points. While 68% of the respondents believe that things are going in the wrong direction, compared to 58% in the October 2017 poll, recording a rise of ten points.
