Innovation is a key element in reshaping the landscape of education in the countryside; but teachers assigned in the mountains know that the hurdles of mountain life demand something more than innovating if their pupils have to learn. Pupils have aspirations, but life in the mountains is hard. Thus, teachers must walk the extra mile to put pupils back to the classroom. This paper attempted to narrate the experiences of a group of graduate students at the Visayas State University (VSU) actively involved in the conduct of community outreach projects in the elementary schools in the remote/mountain barangays of Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines. During ocular visits, essential information were gathered through in-depth interviews with teachers, parents, pupils and barangay captains. Interviews focused on socioeconomic status of parents, school needs, nutritional condition and health habits of pupils, school population, etc. Profiling was important in deciding whether or not the school became the recipient of the outreach, since funding was completely dependent on the benevolence of private individuals, friends, graduate and college students who shared the advocacy of community service. For a while, the Rotary Club of Ormoc and the Phil. Carabao Center housed in VSU likewise extended their support. These humble undertakings started in 2015. Since then, the group had accomplished eight (8) outreach projects, demonstrating that charity, service and genuine concern for the needy are deeply rooted in the Filipino vein. Undeniably, poverty is anywhere in this country and children in remote or upland communities are very vulnerable victims. The lack of nutritious food, and, worse, the absence of it at times as well as other basic school needs has affected their health conditions and attendance in schools. Worst of all, poverty has depleted some children with the much needed parental love and nurturing that must have been accorded them on account of their tender age.

The conditions for psychological and pedagogical development of additional children education organization pupils’ individual and creative abilities as well as pedagogical techniques for individual and creative abilities determination are described. The teaching methods promoting creative imagination and thinking formation are enumerated, psychological and pedagogical conditions for their effective development are singled out. Individual and creative abilities definition is given and the essence of this notion is characterized.
The topicality of individual and creative abilities development both for educational process benefits in additional education organization and psychological and pedagogical practice in general is presented in the introduction.
Pupils’ individual and creative abilities development level assessment criteria and indicators are specified. The determination has been performed according to criteria: cognition, motivation and needs, activity and emotions and willingness.
The hypothesis put forward that individual and creative abilities development in additional education organization pupils would be effective under the condition of meeting the list of psychological and pedagogical requirements has been experimentally proved.

This study examines the nature of the shift schooling system in Ghana and the myriad implications on pedagogy. The instrument used to collect data was the questionnaire and the sample constituted 159 pupils and 24 teachers from two schools. The data collected was analyzed using percentages and graphs. The outcome of the study showed that the pupils showed signs of tiredness and lack of concentration in class during the afternoon shift system. Contact hours reduced during the afternoon session due to the swapping over effect. . Information obtained proved that, pupils and teachers get exhausted and feel reluctant to attend the afternoon school sessions, hence a low enrollment in the afternoon school sessions. It was recommended that there should be enough supervision by the District Teacher Support Team (D.T.S.T.), especially those schools operating the shift system, if the government wants to continue with this educational system. Head teachers and teachers must schedule their time and make adjustment for swapping over of sessions in order to avoid wasting precious time that affects contact hours and teaching and learning interaction.

In this research, I addressed the most important readers in the Levant and highlighted their efforts in this century, in addition to talking about their efforts in teaching the Qur'an and readings and mentioning their elders and disciples, and the reason i chose this century, the 9th century AH, was fertile in the scientific movement. I chose the most prominent scholars of this century, their origin, their elders, their pupils, their status, their influence, their most important scientific writings, as well as the most important role of the Qur'an in that era.

this paper describes the current state of school violence and climate at primary schools in France. A survey that gathered information of perceptions and experiences around school climate and self-reported victimization was held among 12,326 pupils of 157 public schools in eight departments. the results reveal that the majority of pupils are feeling good at their schools. However, 10% of participants are victimized repetitively, and these occurrences affect their perceptions of security and general school climate.

The global economic crisis has demonstrated that Slovenia is lagging behind the more organised and globally competitive states as measured by a number of important indicators, and has exposed its lack of adequate strategies and policies to improve the situation. This paper presents findings on the work of enterprise circles and the current state of Slovenian primary schools in respect of the promotion of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. It examines those factors within schools and the broader local environment that can promote or hinder the development of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship among pupils. The objectives are clarified by research approaches that connect empirical data to those social circumstances that affect how the issue is understood and how stakeholders explain it. The findings indicate a lack of awareness of how important it is to create links between the education system and the labour market. Teachers who have participated in activities to promote the development of creativity and innovation are more critical of their schools, while pupils still find it difficult to express themselves differently within the school system.

What do young pupils know of what is inside them and how their organs function? The topic is important concerning biology education
because conceptions constructed during the primary level have effects on scientific thinking and its development later on. The topic has
been studied broadly in other countries, however its investigation has not been popular in Finland. The study is a qualitative case study.
The data was gathered in spring 2008. It includes drawings and interviews of 20 pupils from the 1st form at primary level. Its
methodological basis is phenomenographic. The resultant data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Analysis shows that some
of the pupils begun to form scientific conceptions of the structures and the functions of the organs in the human body. Some of them had
little appreciation, including only every-day concepts, and some had no conceptions at all. Misconceptions were common.

Les évaluations récentes du système éducatif français pointent sa difficulté à faire réussir les élèves issu·e·s des milieux socialement défavorisés. L’objectif de cet article est d’exposer les principes sous jacents à l’enseignement socioconstructiviste et à l’enseignement explicite afin de comprendre dans quelle mesure leur déclinaison en classe permet la réussite des élèves de l’éducation prioritaire. La mise en miroir de ces deux types d’enseignement implique la comparaison des principes de l’enseignement explicite (acception nord-américaine) et de l’orientation "enseigner plus explicitement" (acception française). Today, teaching is no longer an approach as a simple act. The complexity of the society has led to a more careful study of the teaching process, so that, over the last 10 years, specialists are increasingly discussing about teaching styles as differentiating elements of the quality of educational services offered to students. The present study tries to reveal the impact that teacher' teaching style has upon the student's well-being level. We investigated 180 Romanian teachers who teach different disciplines (48.3% at secondary school' pupils and 51.7% at high school' pupils), and 385 Romanian pupils: 48.16% coming from secondary schools and 51.84% coming from high schools, aged 10-18 years old. Using specific and adapted investigative tools (The 'Teaching style questionnaire' and 'The Ryff's Well Being Scale'), we found specific influences of teacher' teaching style upon the elements that define the well-being level.

Purpose: determination of influence of technologies of motor and intellectual aspects’ impact on process of
basic light athletic movements’ development. Material: in the research 2 groups of pupils participated: control (n = 22 –
girls, n=34 – boys) and experimental (n = 21 – girls and n=34 – boys). Results: we have shown comparison of basic light
athletic movements and movements in wildlife. We compared movements in sports with their physical analogues. Main
characteristics of basic movements in light athletic have been defined. Methodic of rising of theoretical knowledge level
about light athletic exercises has been presented. Conclusions: it is recommended to apply complex methodic of motor
actions’ training. The methodic combines practical trainings with theoretical knowledge about main laws of movements
in wildlife.

Niniejsza książka została poświęcona kwestii, wyrażające się w pytaniu o obecność i jakość przemian postaw religijnych rodziców, przygotowujących się wraz z dziećmi do pierwszej spowiedzi Komunii Świętej. Spojrzenie na religijność tych osób poddanych badaniom empirycznym, pozwoli, jak się wydaje, na ukazanie kierunków zmian postaw religijnych części respondentów, dokonujących się w czasie kilkumiesięcznych przygotowań pierwszokomunijnych. Pomoże w określeniu, w jakim procencie przemiany te objęły grupę badawczą, wskaże ich jakościowy aspekt i pozwoli na wysnucie prognoz, co do trwałości zaistniałych przemian oraz postawienie postulatów, dotyczących przebiegu procesu katechizacji dorosłych.

The study was carried out to assess the prevalence of Schistosoma haematobium and distribution of the infections among the school pupils of Ijoun, Yewa North Local Government Area Ogun State Southwestern Nigeria. Then, the water conditions of the community where the pupils reside and consequently to establish the degree of correlation between the prevalence and water conditions. A total 268 pupils randomly selected for the study, and then statistical technique of correlation analysis was used to establish the degree of relationship between the water usage and prevalence of the infection. Of these pupils examined 221 were positive for the Schistosoma haematobium ova. There is slight difference between the rate of infection among sex; 86.4 % female and 76.8% male. The Coefficient of Determination value of 0.773, between numbers of infected females and the number that take bath in the river/stream/pond indicating the high positive correlation between two variables, a value of 0.939 was obtained for the correlation between the number of infected females and the number that wash clothes in water bodies. The highest correlation (0.958) was between the number of infected and the number that participate in fishing/farming. There is need for health/ hygiene education in the rural areas, designed to discourage the pupils contact with surface water sources and provision of portable water supply.

Since diglossia has an immense impact on formal instruction, the present paper aims to detect teachers' as well as pupils' attitudes towards the forms of Arabic at play, Modern Standard Arabic on the one hand and Algerian Arabic on the other. To achieve the aims of this study, and try to find an answer as to the way teachers and learners react to Modern Standard Arabic and Algerian Arabic in attitudinal terms inside the school context, two instruments were utilized to collect data. First, a questionnaire was administered to a sample consisting of 12 teachers and then, the matched-guise technique was designed to 72 pupils from two different primary schools. Based on both a quantitative and qualitative approaches, the findings of this empirical study reveal that both teachers and pupils display positive attitudes towards Modern Standard Arabic since it is granted an outstanding predominance and prestige in the community, especially because of its tight association with the Qur'an. However, the findings also reveal that preschool grade pupils hold a less positive attitude towards Modern Standard Arabic and favour Algerian Arabic instead.

In the last years the new technologies invested the Educational field (Villani, 2018; Landri, 2014; Giancola, 2016), an example is the shift from paper-based(pba) to computer based-assessment(cba) in national and international standardized assessment programs (Giancola & Lovecchio, 2018). This change has an influence on the data production (Villani 2018; Villani & Oliveira 2018), but also in the daily life of the school actors (directors, professors, students) (Giancola, 2016). In this work I propose an exploratory research project that analyse the impact of the shift from pba to cba in the INVALSI assessment program. In this context the cba tool acquires a “socio-materiality” nature that naturalize the data gathered by the assessment. Moreover the use of this data contributes to disappearance of theories that drive the assessments programs (Giancola, 2016). It will be presented the changes occurred in the daily school activity of the Italian school after the implementation of cba in INVALSI assessment program. I will analyse an “Instituto comprensivo” (school with different grade of education) in Campania region. The using of ICT tools to realize standardized assessment is assumed by national and international agencies, governments, private companies as an innovation with a very small critical approach, following a normative implementation model (Mons, 2007). It in the paper will be considered the follow elements: The difficulty of implementation of cba test in the school;the changes that school needs to operate to participate at the assessment; the impact on school policies; the impact on school curricula; the Impact on professor activities; the impact on pupils actions.

Ecological challenges encourage thinking about the quality of education, the need to develop a person who is responsible and able to live in harmony with the environment and is distinguished by ecological competences. The purpose of the research is to identify the ecological consciousness of pupils and values of pupils, which are developed based on the ‘Concept of the development of ecology and environmental technologies’. For the purpose of the research, a case study was applied, a quantitative research was carried out—the first school in Lithuania was analysed, where the concept of ecology and environmental technology development has been implemented since 2015. The research involved 11thand 12th grade pupils (N = 80). The results of the research were analysed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation analysis and comparison method.Keywords: Ecologic education, pupils, values, ecologic consciousness

Cet article soulève un enjeu et argumente son importance dans les processus d’apprentissage des sciences : les élèves sont confronté·e·s à une diversité de registres sémiotiques (langue vernaculaire, mathématique, schémas, etc.) qu’il leur incombe de coordonner. • Photosynthesis is the most important biochemical process on Earth. Most living beings depend on it directly or indirectly. Knowledge about photo-synthesis enables us to understand how the world functions as an ecosystem and how photosynthesis acts as a bridge between the non-living and living worlds. It is, therefore, understandable that photosynthesis is included in national curricula around the world. The practice unfortunately shows that students at all school levels mostly learn about photosynthesis by rote. Consequently, they have difficulties understanding this vital process. Research also shows many misconceptions in relation to photosyn-thesis among students of different ages. Based on these, the main aim of our study was to explore the scientific conceptions about photosynthesis held by primary school pupils and student teachers of biology. Data were collected using a questionnaire containing seven biology content questions. The sample consisted of 634 participants, 427 primary school pupils (aged 11–14), and 207 student teachers of biology (aged 20–23). We found that the populations of primary school pupils and student teachers of biology differ greatly concerning scientific conceptions of photosynthesis. The student teachers showed good and complex understanding of photosyn-thesis, while pupils showed some misconceptions (location of chlorophyll and photosynthesis in a plant, transformation of energy in photosynthe-sis). Analysis of the development of scientific conceptions about photo-synthesis with age showed that there is very little progress among primary school pupils and none among biology student teachers. More involvement of student teachers of biology in practical work at primary schools during their study was suggested to make student teachers aware of, and better understand pupils' misconceptions.

This paper explores the findings of a study of the ideas young school children in the Nordic countries have about the human body e.g. structure and location of bones and organs (heart, lungs, stomach and brain etc.) before being taught about it formally at school. The aims of the study were to investigate children’s ideas about the human body and to see if their ideas differ between Nordic countries and if so, in what way. Twenty 6 year old children in each country were chosen (7–8 year olds in Finland) and asked to draw the bones and the organs in the body and to explain their drawings. Mixed methods were used in this study to get a broader view of the double aim of the study. At the same time, a research reveals the negative effects of frequent consumption of such foods, especially preferred by young people. In connection with this, we set ourselves the goal of assessing the preferences of young people in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. Material and methods. It was performed a cross-sectional study using the questionnaire. There were interviewed 100 pupils of the Moldovan-French theoretical high school „Gh. Asachi” and 100 students of the State University of Moldova (68 boys and 132 girls) on the consumption of fast-food products, as well as to determine the level of awareness of the impact of these foods on health. Nutrition, sleep and exercise are extremely important factors for health. New studies have shown that obesity is common, pupils do not sleep enough, and their fitness is not good. School-based health education would produce positive effects on beliefs, attitudes and behaviour, if it was known what pupils think about these issues. This paper reports the results of a study where the pupils' conceptions of the importance of nutrition, sleep and exercise for their well-being were investigated. The study was a quantitative descriptive survey, in which a total of 203 pupils (11-12 years old) participated voluntarily. The resultant data was collected using a semi-structural questionnaire in 2009. The data was analysed by using SPSS and Excel and tested with the Student t-test. Based on the results, most of the pupils found their health to be good or very good. They understood that healthy food, sleep and exercise are important. They ate well every day, but more in the afternoons and evenings. The girls appreciated healthy food more than the boys. The pupils thought that sleep is important for feeling well. They slept over eight hours per night. Over 60 per cent thought that exercise is important for welfare, good mood and physical fitness. The boys exercised more than the girls. Based on our results, it seems that the most important topics to be included in the curriculum and in the teaching, learning and studying processes of health education seem to be those which are especially related to mental and social welfare. In addition, significance of rest and sleep to health and the importance of breakfast and school meals for concentration and feeling should be discussed more at school.

School travel planning is a community-based model for implementing active school travel that systematically addresses barriers for walking to school. It is a proven cost-effective way to get more kids walking and wheeling to school. When effectively coordinated and implemented, it results in positive travel behavior changes with health, safety, environmental, and economic benefits. School Travel Plans are the organized, thought-out and systematic efforts to improve road safety related to school units. Transportation routes concern teachers, pupils, parents, and the necessary supplies for the operation of the school. Each School Travel Plan has its own individual objectives that depend on the specificity of each school. Xanthi is a medium-sized town in Greece with school units scattered in various areas. In Greece, pupils do not move to school in groups by school bus as it happens in other countries. Most parents move kids to school by car, because they believe that pupils, on their own, cannot move safely. That creates a need for the establishment of safe routes that will encourage pupils to use methods and means of alternative transport to schools. This research includes two sections about the town of Xanthi: a) an analysis of the school's educational, building, urban and traffic data, identifying road safety problems and b) proposals for specific projects and practices that can improve the conditions and contribute to the sustainable operation of the school. The development of a School Travel Plan, further than scientific reasoning, should gain the support of the society members by means of a public dialogue process and the end results are expected to produce long-term benefits for the town of Xanthi.
