Product lifecycle management (PLM) innovates as it defines both the product as a central element to aggregate enterprise information and the lifecycle as a new time dimension for information integration and analysis. Because of its potential benefits to shorten innovation lead-times and to reduce costs, PLM has attracted a lot of attention at industry and at research. However, the current PLM implementation stage at most organisations still does not apply the lifecycle management concepts thoroughly. In order to close the existing realisation gap, this article presents a process oriented framework to support effective PLM implementation. The framework central point consists of a set of lifecycle oriented business process reference models which links the necessary fundamental concepts, enterprise knowledge and software solutions to effectively deploy PLM. #

The present paper on three related issues and their integration Product lifecycle management , Enterprise Planning resources and Manufacturing execution systems. Our work is how to integrate all these in a unified systems engineering framework. As most company about two third claim to have integrate ERP to PLM, ; we still observe some related problems as also mentioned by Aberdeen group. In actual global data sharing, we have some options to also integrate systems best practices towards such objective. Such critical study come with solution by reverse engineering, revisiting requirement engineering steps and propose a validation and verification for the success factors of such integration.

An aircraft is a complex, multi-disciplinary, system-engineered product that requires real-time global technical collaboration through its life-cycle. Engineering data and processes which form the backbone of the aircraft should be under strict Configuration Control (CC). It should be model-based and allow for 3D visualization and manipulation. This requires accurate, realtime collaboration and concurrent engineering-based business processes operating in an Integrated Digital Environment (IDE). The IDE uses lightweight, neutral Computer Aided Design (CAD) Digital Mock-Up (DMU). The DMU deals with complex structural assemblies and systems of more than a hundred thousand parts created by engineers across the globe, each using diverse CAD, Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management(SCM),Customer Relationship Management(CRM) and Computer Aided Maintenance Management System (CAMMS) systems. In this paper, a comprehensive approach to making such an environment a reality is presented.

In this paper, we provide an overview of the changing design and manufacturing landscape in the 21 century that has come about because of the arrival of Information Technology (IT), a new disruptive technology, and the changing global conditions. Based on this overview and a review of the current state of IT for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) support in the design and manufacturing sector, we identify the areas of need for standards. A review of areas covered by standards leads us to the development of an initial typology of standards and a potential path for bringing convergence of these standards in support of PLM. We make a case throughout the paper that given the nature of the task we need to aspire to create open standards with wide participation.

However, it is not easy to implement Part 2 Data Model and Part 4 Initial Reference Data Library because of their complexity in terms of data structure and a shortage of related development toolkits. In order to overcome this problem, ISO 15926 Part 7 is under development. This part of the standard specifies implementation methods for sharing and exchange of process plant data across its lifecycle by utilizing OWL and Web Services. For the application of ISO 15926 Part 7, we first discuss how to represent technical specifications of process plant equipment by utilizing the user defined Reference Data Library and Object Information Model with an example of reactor coolant pumps located in the reactor coolant system of an APR 1400 nuclear power plant. An implementation plan of ISO 15926 Part 7 is also addressed after analyzing enabling technologies and surveying related tools.

process design from concept to retirement, which is around 70 years. The entire engineering data is
hierarchically structured and traced throughout the lifecycle under strict Configuration Control (CC). This
requires an accurate, easily communicable Digital Mock-Up(DMU)as a Virtual 3D-static and dynamic
platform for, real-time concurrent engineering through wide collaboration, a sample of which is presented

Our proposal concerns ongoing research at the University of Burgundy, in collaboration with Active3D-Lab Company, for the development of a method to manage civil engineering projects and corresponding facilities management. This method is made up of processes, specific models and tools. The processes make it possible to structure the various phases, codified by professionals, which organize the lifecycle of buildings. Construction and a building's life information comes from heterogeneous sources (heterogeneity of professions, heterogeneity of data formats, and heterogeneity of validation processes). We propose an innovative approach which gives a global view of a buildings lifecycle including facilities management aspect. This approach is based on a data model standard called IFC which was developed by the International Alliance for Interoperability. A collaborative Internet platform was developed to support the building lifecycle. This platform is mainly used to federate all the actions realized on a building during its lifecycle, to merge all information relating to these actions in an adaptive hypermedia graph, to extract some trade views of the building by combining information collected during the lifecycle from heterogeneous sources and to handle all these views through a dynamic and adaptive 3D interface. This platform won the technological innovation gold medal at the international show BATIMAT in Paris in November 2003.

In this paper the Taguchi technique was utilized to optimize the process parameters in End milling. The process parameters considered were depth of cut, feed and Speed. The investigation was carried out on FG 260 grade Grey cast iron material. Roughness average (Ra) and Root mean square roughness (Rq) of Surface texture was considered as output response. L9 orthogonal array of Taguchi technique, Signal to noise ratios and Analysis of variances (ANOVA) were employed with the help of Minitab 18 software to investigate the surface roughness characteristics for End milling operation. This study showed that Speed has a greater effect on both Ra and Rq surface roughness value followed by depth of cut and feed respectively.

The paper presents some issues relevant to the strategic justification of computer-integrated enterprise technologies for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. To address the issue of making a strategic justification or 'business case' for these technologies, an organizational decision-making methodology that incorporates the strategies of the firm is needed, among other requirements. A research and development approach that integrates Quality Function Deployment and IDEF0 functional modeling to determine the requirements and processes for the justification methodology is presented. This approach has implications for future research and development for similar organizational decision-support processes and business-process reengineering.

This paper presents methodology and guidelines about the use of process modeling languages to support BPR activities in relation with Product Development process. The methodology is based on the complementary adoption of different modeling techniques such as IDEF, UML and ARIS. Starting from the analysis of different models, we have selected and associated the most appropriate modeling suite to each phase of the re-engineering process. At this purpose, diagrams coming from IDEF, UML and ARIS families have been compared with respect to following issues: degree of formality, completeness, simplicity vs. detail, capability to describe "business goal" and support to costing operations.

The evolvement of Internet of thing (IoT) is undeniable by making the management process become more ease at lowest cost as possible. In this paper, traceability becomes a factor among man, machine and management in order to make fast respond on the data retrieved. The term traceability is measured based on response time in real time system to track the information in just in time for one-to-one communication through JAVA programming and two different operating systems as an approach. The communication can be occurred in less than 20seconds within two different machines. The traceability time is a performance measure for just in time data process which the human behavior factor is neglected for this study. The fastest time response have a potential to optimize the manufacturing management, make more efficient and offer the traceability on product/project status beside improve the flexibility, maintainability, reusability as well as extensibility.

We examine the curation and preservation requirements in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and suggest ways of alleviating the problems associated with the sustained representation of CAD engineering models through the use of lightweight formats, layered annotation and the collection of Representation Information as defined in the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) Reference Model.

Long-term users of engineering product data face a significant challenge due to the ephemeral nature of CAD file formats and the applications that work with them. STEP, the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (ISO 10303), promises to help with meeting this challenge, but is not without problems of its own. We present a complementary solution based on the use of lightweight file formats to preserve specific aspects of the product data, in conjunction with a registry of relevant Representation Information as defined by the Open Archival Information System Reference Model (ISO 14721). This registry, currently under construction, may be used to identify suitable destination file formats for different purposes, and may aid in the recovery of information from these formats in the future.
