Introducere sau schiţarea discursului

Banatul – o unitate de existenţă umană colectivă – reprezintă un câmp de investigaţie deosebit de generos din punctul de vedere al ştiinţelor socio-umane. Realitatea complexă a obiectului cercetat face dificilă compartimentarea demersului iniţiat cu scopul cunoaşterii acesteia.
“Cauzele” de natură istorică, geografică, politică, etnică sau socială au modelat destinul Banatului astfel încât s-au format în timp, “zone de civilizaţie şi cultură” în continuă interacţiune unele cu altele, generând un substrat identificabil al “mentalităţilor”.
Aceste zone de civilizaţie şi cultură aflate în mod constant în schimbare şi interacţiune îşi datorează dinamismul unui fenomen social important care a marcat şi marchează încă experienţa Banatului: mişcările migratorii, forţate sau voluntare, care peste secole au mişcat populaţii – transplantând şi amestecând grupuri umane expuse la experienţe de adaptare socială şi readaptare – ceea ce se constituie într-un factor de modelare a mentalităţilor, odată cu evoluţia unor noi caracteristici psihologice.
Înafara factorilor istorici şi sociali care au modelat psihologia colectivă sau “mentalitatea” grupurilor umane aflate în unitatea geografică a Banatului, în plus se poate accentua un alt grup de “cauze” şi anume, acelea asociate cu identitatea etnică.
Domeniile mentalităţii şi identităţii sunt însă dificil de abordat – identitatea este “negociabilă”, iar mentalitatea s-ar părea că şi ea relaţionează cu contextul. În plus, se susţine că mentalitatea poate avea sens doar atunci când se referă la un anumit context politic definit ca şi un cadru de comunicare - mai precis se pune în evidenţă expresia mentală a unei unităţi politice recunoscute istoric. Cu alte cuvinte, dacă se doreşte evidenţierea unei “mentalităţi”, adică a anumitor atitudini, credinţe sau percepţii asupra intereselor împărtăşite ce caracterizează o cultură, atunci trebuie conectată această “viziune asupra lumii” cu un context politic specific dintr-o anumită perioadă de timp. S-ar încerca astfel recuperarea trecutului prin expresiile “imaginaţiei colective”, cu scopul de a accede în lumea mentală şi emoţională a unor epoci mai îndepărtate pe traiectoria istorică a unei unităţi sociale delimitate politic.
În aceeaşi măsură favorizând şi istoria, şi imaginaţia demersul întreprins în acest caz înfăţişează un punct de vedere din perspectiva prezentului, asupra unor constante, paradoxal “mişcătoare” - mentalităţi şi identităţi.
Discursul se schiţează în funcţie de dinamica identităţii etnice – aceasta se organizează accentuând diferenţa şi în plus contribuie la constituirea simbolică a unei “frontiere comunitare” prin evidenţierea şi căutarea unei similarităţi.


Întreaga abordare se doreşte a fi construită în jurul unei axe centrale – etnicitatea - care să parcurgă traiectoria dată de identitate şi putere, organizaţii şi comunităţi.
Demersul nu îşi propune să dea un “verdict” şi nici să prezinte o perspectivă exhaustivă sau imbatabilă; ceea ce îşi propune este punerea unei probleme şi încercarea de modelare conceptuală a unei realităţi complexe.

RESUMEN: Este es el todavía primer estudio completo de la Historia de la Bética durante la última etapa de su pertenencia al Imperio Romano (253-422). En él, utilizo todo material susceptible de análisis histórico, con un sistemático uso de las fuentes literarias, epigráficas, jurídicas, arqueológicas, papirológicas, toponímicas, numismáticas y antroponímicas, a fin de reconstruir la evolución de los aspectos económicos, sociales, administrativos y mentales, analizando los factores endógenos, que definen, en ciertos puntos, una evolución distinta a la atestiguada para el conjunto del Imperio Romano Occidental, y los exógenos, en su mayor parte derivados de la integración de la Bética en un Estado acuciado, desde la segunda mitad del siglo II, por la aceleración de la crisis estructural derivada del desajuste entre las crecientes necesidades estatales y el lento e insuficiente desarrollo de los niveles productivos.

ABSTRACT: This is the first complete study of the history of the Roman province of Baetica during the last stage in which it was part of the Roman Empire (253-422). I use all available tools of historical analysis, with the systematic use of literary, epigraphic, legal, archaeological, papyrological, toponymic, numismatic and anthroponymic sources, to reconstruct the economic, social, administrative and mental evolution of this Roman province. I analyze the endogenous factors, which show a different evolution from what we can testify of the Western Roman Empire, and the exogenous, derived largely from the integration of Baetica in a Roman state harassed by the acceleration of a structural crisis that was the result of the imbalance between the increase in state spending and the slow and inadequate development of domestic production, since the second half of the second century.

The main aim of the paper is to discuss the problem of a reactivation of an interwar dilemma of traditionalism versus Europeanism and the resultant idea of the scission between the two conflicting types of the Romanian, an archaic and a European Romanian, which leads in consequence to the appearance of a new image-type, the Romanian in transition. Further, I discuss/the article focuses on how the national identity is being shaped these days by the powerful impact of the disappearance of the frontier. The frontier, understood in Romanian imagery as the constant limitation (?) keeping Romanians away from others, paradoxically, constitutes in itself an integrative part of the collective Romanian mentality. The analysis uses an interdisciplinary approach and focuses on the selected issues in both the cultural phenomena and literary texts (most of them, published in ³Dilema Veche´) . .

Profesorul Cătălin Zam fir deschide, în acest număr al revistei, o discuţie1 cu dublă miză pentru cercetarea sociologică. în plan metodologic, tema este cea a raportului dintre cercetarea exploratorie şi testarea ipotezelor. în cel al conţinutului, tema este cea a relaţiei dintre migraţia tempo rară în străinătate şi schimbarea mentali tăţilor în perioada postcomunistă. Punctul de pornire îl constituie capitolul meu despre experienţa "străinătăţii" ca posibil cadru de condiţionare a schimbărilor de men talitate în perioada de după 19892 .

In this paper I ask how Old English poetry, taken as a whole, partakes of a common semiotics: that is, how it deploys a system of verbal signs that was shaped over many generations and represents a kind of collective thinking in the privileged medium of verse. The poem 'Beowulf' is the starting point for a discussion that focuses on the imagery of byrnies (coats of mail), halls, swords, and walls.

Study of this imagery leads to one's appreciation of the dualistic, agonistic, defensive mentality that was characteristic of the early medieval period--always counterbalanced, however, by reassurances offered by human artifice, seen as something bright and beckoning when contrasted with the alien and indifferent world of nature.

Es besteht weitgehend Einigkeit darüber, dass eine Transformation hin zu einer post-fossilen Wirtschaft auf Grundlage erneuerbarer und bio-basierter Energien und Ressourcen unvermeidlich ist, und dass dies grundlegende strukturelle Veränderungen in modernen Gesellschaften verlangt. Diese Veränderungen werden jedoch bislang vor allem als technologische Innovationen und Umgestaltungen von Produktionsprozessen und Infrastrukturen verstanden. Desde el momento de su creación a mediados del siglo XIX, la invención fotográfica representó un cambio profundo en la mentalidad de la sociedad decimonónica en lo relativo a su impacto en la reproducción y diseminación de las imágenes visuales. Durante las primeras décadas siguientes a su invención, los entusiastas de la fotografía propulsaron un discurso de superioridad mimética de la misma por sobre las artes visuales tradicionales, sobre la base de la supuesta objetividad absoluta de su registro óptico-químico. La fuerza de esta mentalidad discursiva del nuevo paradigma visual se reflejó en la literatura y demás expresiones culturales, incluyendo las propias artes plásticas. A través de un análisis iconográfico de un conjunto de medallas del período se pueden identificar los signos, códigos y discursos relativos a la fotografía como reflejo de las mentalidades positivistas imperantes de la época.

Abstract:
Since its invention in the first half of the nineteenth century, photography represented a profound change in the mentality of European society regarding its impact in the reproduction and dissemination of visual images. During its initial developmental stage, fanatics of the new medium gave impulse to a discourse of mimetic superiority of photography over traditional visual arts, based upon the alleged absolute objectivity of its optical-chemical registry. This discursive mentality reflected its influence in literature, as well as in other cultural expressions, including the visual arts. Through the implementation of an iconographic analysis of a sample of award and commemorative medals of this period, this article looks to identify those signs, codes and discourses related to photography as symbol of progress and absolute truth within the positivism paradigm.

Based on analyses of a 2016 German survey, this article contributes to debates on ‘societal nature relations’ by investigating the systematic differences between socially specific types of social relations with nature in a flexible capitalist society. It presents a typology of ten different ‘syndromes’ of attitudes toward social and environmental issues, which are then grouped to distinguish between four ideal types of social relationships with nature: dominance, conscious mutual dependency, alienation and contradiction. These are located in Pierre Bourdieu’s (1984) social space to illustrate how social relationships with nature correspond to people’s positions within the totality of social relations. Understanding how people’s perceptions of and actions pertaining to nature are shaped by their positions in these intersecting relations of domination – both within social space and between society and nature – is an important precondition for developing transformative strategies that ...

Our paper is an attempt to locate the ‘Spoken Sanskrit’ revival within the complex socio- political, religious, linguistic ecological context of a contemporary, globalized South Asia, and world (see Bordia 2015, Brass 2005). One of the key points of discussion in this paper surrounds the nomenclature used to define the varieties of Sanskrit spoken today. Simply put, for many reasons, a lot of the Sanskrit spoken today is not really the same as the archaic Vedic and Classical predecessors. Therefore, through a revivalistic lens, we explore some of the different registers of vernacular Sanskrit spoken today, and propose that they ought to, instead, be called Hybridic Reclaimed Sanskrit (henceforth, HRS). Namun, bagi mana-mana jurulatih yang menghargai dan menilai pembangunan terancang, pastinya ia bukan sesuatu yang mudah. Bab kata pepatah ‘ia mengambil seluruh kampung untuk mendidik seorang kanak-kanak.’ Jurulatih hanya boleh dan mampu untuk membentuk seseorang pemain untuk kejayaan jangka panjang, dan kita memerlukan bantuan dan sokongan dari ibubapa juga. Persekitaran yang kita cipta untuk mereka adalah penting.
