Hybrid plasma catalyst technology has great potential for indoor air purification. However, humidity is a critical parameter in plasma catalytic processes. In this work, several catalysts were tested downstream of a DC corona discharge and the effect of humidity was investigated on both ozone and toluene removal. Next, sorption measurements onto the catalysts were performed for toluene, trichloroethylene and acetone, using an equilibrium partitioning in closed system procedure to explain the obtained results in a quantitative manner.

There are several models for the calculation of the acceleration factor for the electronic assemblies subjected to stress tests. A correct reliability assessment requires an accurate analysis of these models and the evaluation of their real effectiveness and adequacy. As regard to the solder joints subjected to the thermomechanical stresses given by temperature variation, applicable models are the original Coffin-Manson model, the Coffin-Manson model modified by Norris and Landzberg, and the model described in the standard IPC-SM-785. The last one is the most complete model to evaluate the acceleration factors given by slow temperature swings. However, the most effective method for the estimate of the solder joint aging is based on the analysis of the microstructure of the alloy. Regarding the acceleration factors of the electronic components, the international standard IEC 61709 can be used. This standard provides the equations to determine the intrinsic failure rates of the electronic components. Those equations allow to calculate the acceleration factors for the different types of stress (caused by temperature, voltage, current, etc.). This standard is more linked to the actual characteristics of the components than MIL-STD-217F, which was widespread in the past. IEC 61709 is also a useful tool for the design of electronic assemblies. A new method for the calculation of the acceleration factors is the analysis of the variation of the electrical parameters of the assembly when the stress is applied. This new method allows to evaluate directly the effects of the stress on the functionality of the assembly.

This Project Concerns in itself the case of Devinder Singh Pal v. State of NCT of Delhi It is and IRAC analysis of the aforesaid case. In this case the accused was given a capital punishment but on the grounds of delay in mercy petition the court commuted his death penalty to life imprisonment. Here, in the projects facts are briefly stated, issues are raised with relevance to the laws applied in the case, and analysis of the judgment followed by a conclusion.

Every criminal act can be divided into actus reus, mens rea and causation. Actus reus deals with the 'guilty act', mens rea with the 'guilty mind' and the causation deals with the consequences of the actus. In crimes, which require consequence like murder, causation is a necessary and important element. The lack of causation between the actus and the consequence may render a conviction untenable despite the presence of the requisite mens rea and actus reus. For example, X intending to murder Y, puts a bomb in Y's bag. However, before the bomb could go off, Y dies in a car accident. Here, X cannot be held liable for murder despite possessing the mens rea to commit murder and the presence of an actus reus. X's actus did not cause Y's death and therefore, while X may be liable for an attempt to murder, X cannot be held liable for murder. Therefore, causation is an essential part of criminal law.

Whether it’s a case of Best Bakery case, Jessica Lal or Phoolan Devi Case it has been found in most of the high profile and even in normal cases also, eye witness of the Case become hostile during trial of the case which not only make the prosecution case weak but grave in justice to the victim also. In a country like India, where there is no law and scheme for the protection of witnesses, in such situation judiciary has become puppet for the rich people. Even there is no provision of recording statement in oath and signed by the witness during investigation under Section 161 of Criminal Procedure Code by the investigating officer. And that is why witness after recording statement under section 161 Crpc, become hostile during trial which is another impact in the process of prosecution. Many times it has been found that, the investigation officer did their best to collect evidence against the accused but due to some lapses and lack of provision for the protection of the Witness, the accused get benefit from it and make fun of the judiciary as well as the executive (Police department) which not only create a negative impact in the society but also people don’t want to come forward to give statement in cases due to their life risk and harassment faced by themselves by the investigation and prosecution agencies. It is high time to bring law for the protection of the witness as well as amendment should be done in Crpc.
Through this research paper I will discuss about the lapses in present procedural law and its remedy and second thing to bring law for the protection of the witness for proper justice.

Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Systems are commonly used on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) manufacturing process. The use of this technology has been proved to be highly efficient on process improvements and quality achievements.
The most difficult point on Surface Mounting Devices (SMD) inspection is the solder joint due to their specular reflections. Several studies have been made to improve this situation. In this paper, it is presented a solder joint classification system based on IPC-A-610D (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies).

This research project aims to develop a quantitative assessment of English oral comprehension as a second language applied on students of  high school first year of Central University Junior College of Ecuador. Those students were subjected to a thorough diagnostic test focused on that skill. It revealed not they were in academic conditions in both oral comprehension and oral expression which commensurate with the level of language study. As a result, it is suggested to enhance the academic oral comprehension activities through the use of updated video phonic resources during the students´ learning process. These activities will help with assignments and oral evaluations. Moreover, it will facilitate and motivate sequential and interactive learning in the English lab. All these activities were gathered on an interactive CD-ROM which was developed along two distinct curricular areas between April and June 3013. Top-Down and Bottom-Up learning style was used to improve general knowledge of the foreign language and reach beyond the mere acquisition of contents. At the end of which, it was possible to create an auditory learning environment. It also enables optimum use of developed training material, called “Digital Interactive Video Phonic Teaching Resource Guide”.

Melasma is an irregular brown or grayish-brown facial hypermelanosis, often affecting women, especially those living in areas of intense UV radiation. The precise cause of melasma remains unknown; however, there are many possible contributing factors. Because of its dermal component and tendency to relapse, melasma is often difficult to treat. The use of broad-spectrum (UVA 1 UVB) sunscreen is important, as is topical hydroquinone, the most common treatment for melasma. Other lightening agents include retinoic acid (tretinoin) and azelaic acid. Combination therapies such as hydroquinone, tretinoin, and corticosteroids have been used in the treatment of melasma, and are thought to increase efficacy as compared with monotherapy. Kojic acid, isopropylcatechol, N-acetyl-4-cysteaminylphenol, and flavonoid extracts are other compounds that have been investigated for their ability to produce hypopigmentation, but their efficacy, safety, or trial design indicates that the interventions would need further study before they could be recommended. Chemical peels, laser treatments, and intense pulsed light therapy are additional therapeutic modalities that have been used to treat melasma. ( J Am Acad Dermatol 2006;55:1048-65.)

Information Technology Act has introduced E-Governance by facilitating electronic filing of data and documents. Chapter III of Information Technology Act, 2000 has defined the emergence and existence of E-Governance. This paper is presenting a brief to understand the defined structure of E-Governance provided in IT Act 2000 with respect to different sections falling under IT Act. E-Governance Chapter III of IT Act 2000 has introduced the foundation of legal recognition of paper-based documents and concepts into recognized and acceptable electronic form under Government policy. E-Governance is such a government which works with aid of electronic media. This type of movement make their policies flexible, accessible to general public in terms of effective service delivery by making massive use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and its related web-based services. This kind of government aims to fulfill needs of layman in fastest mode of time. It involves e-filling of documents namely uploading, downloading legal assets, digital certificates, digital signatures and other vital documents over internet. Every transactional ongoing such activities take place under secured environment that includes cryptography, ensuring user end security with one time passwords. It eases functionality of public sector with use of ICT, encourages citizen participation in decision making process and improves service delivery. This makes the Government more reliable, accountable and fast. Indian Government is also updating its policies and changing its spectrum to E-governance. This is implemented at many places and states. Food and Drug Administration, Government of Maharashtra has adopted E-Governance by issuing drugs and cosmetics licenses

According to Section 498-A of Indian Penal Court (IPC), “Whoever, being the husband or the relative of the husband of a woman, subjects such woman to cruelty shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine. The offence is cognizable, non-compoundable and non-bailable.” This provision has been made to protect female for domestic violence due to dowry (the durable goods, cash, and real or movable property that the bride's family gives to the bridegroom, his parents, or his relatives as a condition of the marriage). In India 24,771 dowry deaths have been reported in last three years, according to the National Crime Record Bureau.



It is surprising to learn that although, this provision was introduced in IPC for a good cause but now it is being blatantly misused by some females to harass their husband and his relatives. In many cases, this has become a new mode of blackmailing, harassment, divorce and revenge. There are myriad instances where the police have arrested elderly parents, unmarried sisters and even pregnant sister-in-laws, without any investigation due to which they have to suffer mental stress, humiliation and agony. In a few cases, the accused husbands or their family members have also committed suicide due to humiliation.



The existing legal provisions mandate that there should be an instant arrest as a result of such complaints, but recently Supreme Court in Arnesh Kumar case passed a landmark judgment that there should be no immediate arrest without investigation. This is merely a preliminary step to check this emerging menace, but there is a long way to go.



This paper discusses the affects of misuse of the provisions of section 498-A by some females in today’s scenario who are using this as a weapon rather than a shield resulting in the present pathetic condition of the husband and his relatives. The paper attempts to propose with the help of case laws and statistics that strict guidelines should be issued to check the increasing misuse of 498A.

In this paper, we discuss the quality of different hedging strategies that use the Mexican Stock Market Index Futures, traded in the Mexican Derivatives Market (MexDer) contract to minimize the impact of stock price fluctuations on the value of a diversified portfolio, for a period from January 3, 2000, through November 11, 2014.
We review six possible hedging strategies: a) No Hedge; b) Constant Hedge based on an OLS regression using the HAC Newey Covariance Matrix Estimation; and c) four hedging strategies based on Dynamic Conditional Correlation Multivariate GARCH models with variations.
Finally, we evaluate the quality of all the strategies using Kupiec’s (1995) technique. Our results indicate that the different Dynamic Conditional Correlation M- GARCH models eliminate risk in a more efficient manner. More specifically, the CCC model and the Diagonal VEC, both with asymmetric responses, produce the best possible results. However, in terms of final returns, the best performing strategy is the No-Hedge strategy.

Many thousands of patent applications arrive at patent offices around the world every day. One important task when a patent application is submitted is to assign one or more classification codes from the complex and hierarchical patent classification schemes that will enable routing of the patent application to a patent expert who is knowledgeable about the specific technical field. This task is typically undertaken by patent professionals, however due to the large number of applications and the potential complexity of an invention, they are usually overwhelmed. Therefore, there is a need for this code assignment manual task to be supported or even fully automated by classification systems that will classify patent applications, hopefully with an accuracy close to patent professionals. Like in many other text analysis problems, in the last years, this intellectually demanding task has been studied using word embeddings and deep learning techniques. In this thesis we present the results of different word embeddings and deep learning techniques, considering different parts of the patent document on automatic patent classification in the level of sub-classes. Compared with previous works we focus on single-label classification exploiting the <main classification> labels found on patents in the CLEF-IP 2011 collection.

The public trust doctrine is doctrine which arises duty of sovereign to protect the resources that are freely available in the environment for the public to protect it and to act as a watchdog of society and if any one uses that public resources privately then the sovereign has to punish that person. The natural resources are protected under this doctrine from private use. Mainly in this paper we are going to see that how this doctrine is evolved with the time and how the courts have interpreted this doctrine with the time in India and we are going to see that how this doctrine has been used by South Africa and United States of America. And will thoroughly study the case laws to understand it properly. This doctrine is very useful for protecting environment and right of an individual as well as public and with the help of this principle sustainable development can be promoted.

The sampling and analysis of airborne microorganisms has received attention in recent years owing to concerns with mold contamination in indoor environments and the threat of bioterrorism. Traditionally, the detection and enumeration of airborne microorganisms has been conducted using light microscopy and/or culture-based methods; however, these analyses are time-consuming, laborious, subjective and lack sensitivity and specificity. The use of molecular methods, such as quantitative polymerase chain reaction amplification, can enhance monitoring strategies by increasing sensitivity and specificity, while decreasing the time required for analysis.

In this era of "big data", hundreds or even thousands of patent applications arrive every day to patent offices around the world. One of the first tasks of the professional analysts in patent offices is to assign classification codes to those patents based on their content. Such classification codes are usually organized in hierarchical structures of concepts. Traditionally the classification task has been done manually by professional experts. However, given the large amount of documents, the patent professionals are becoming overwhelmed. If we add that the hierarchical structures of classification are very complex (containing thousands of categories), reliable, fast and scalable methods and algorithms are needed to help the experts in patent classification tasks. This chapter describes, analyzes and reviews systems that, based on the textual content of patents, automatically classify such patents into a hierarchy of categories. This chapter focuses specially in the patent classification task applied for the International Patent Classification (IPC) hierarchy. The IPC is the most used classification structure to organize patents, it is worldwide recognized, and several other structures use or are based on it to ensure office inter-operability.

Based on a multidisciplinary survey in the Iberian upwelling during late summer 2007, this paper analysed comparatively the cross-shore variability and offshore transport across the upwelling front and within a mesoscale filament. Along the East-West (EW) sections, transient upwelling pulses bring regularly cold, fresh and nutrient-enriched waters to the surface, triggering intense biological responses. Offshore advection by wind-forced Ekman drift of the successive fronts, interrupted by relaxation periods, drive the variability of the planktonic communities. Se estudió el crecimiento en talla, estado nutricional y composición corporal de una
muestra de 196 menores de quince años de ambos sexos en Salgar (Puerto Colombia, Atlántico) para
analizar la variación biológica producida por algunos determinantes sociales, económicos y ambientales. El
retraso en el crecimiento en talla en menores de cinco años (15,8%) fue un hallazgo relevante. El sobrepeso
y la obesidad, entre 5 y 14 años, fue inferior a los valores encontrados a nivel nacional. Los segmentos del
área muscular y grasa en la región del brazo presentaron frecuencias importantes de depleción: 44,7% y
49,5% respectivamente. Los incrementos brutos del IPC (Índice de Precios al Consumidor) al nacimiento
se asociaron a los cambios en el tejido graso, encontrando que los sujetos que habían crecido con mayores
incrementos del IPC acumulado desde el nacimiento presentaron reducción del tamaño de todas las
medidas antropométricas, principalmente del IMC y pliegue subescapular.

Estimar un índice de precios para 1872-1897, a pesar de las limitaciones de las fuentes, ofirece resultados aceptables, importantes aportaciones para la historia económica de Cuba y algunas respuestas al debate sobre su independencia. Dichos precios experimentaron un proceso de deflación similar al de otros países y muy sincronizado con el de los EE UU (economía a la que ya estaba estrechamente vinculada la insular), pero tras la crisis de 1883 empezaron a decrecer a un ritmo muy inferior a los del azúcar, ocasionando pérdidas que, teniendo en cuenta la importancia de ese producto, pueden ser una buena aproximación a lo que deberían mostrar indicadores como la renta -para la que carecemos de cálculos-. Frente a la historiografía anterior, la investigación tiene un carácter complementario; indica la necesidad de ampliar el espectro en el que se han estudiado problemas como la política arancelaria o la reserva del mercado cubano para los artículos españoles, pues la evidencia prueba que, en última instancia, fue la evolución del sistema económico internacional de finales del siglo XIX la principal causa económica de la independencia.

Modern processors have a clock speed in the range of GHz while the main memory (DRAM) has a read/write speed in the range of MHz, so the processor needs to halt till the memory completes its request. The halt period may seem to be very small, but when seen on a broad scale, we see that most of the processor's time is wasted in the halt cycles. Cache memory is intended to reduce the speed gap between the fast processor and slow memory. When a program needs to access data from the RAM (physical memory), it first checks inside the cache (SRAM). Replacement policies are methods by which the memory blocks are replaced in a filled cache. Cache replacement policies play a significant role in the memory organization of a processor and dictate how fast a processor will receive the block demanded. Various replacement policies such as RRIP, ABRRIP, AIRRIP, etc. have been designed but not been implemented, unlike LRU. LRU is predominantly used in most of the systems. The ABRRIP policy has two levels of RRPV-one at block and one at the core level. We observe that the performance of the ABRRIP policy improves as we increase the number of instructions during the simulation.

In the steady state condition, an IPC controls power flow by setting PST phase angle. In this paper, an efficient algorithm is presented to specify location and the IPC parameters as a fault current limiter including angels of phase shifting transformer (PST) and reactances of the reactor and the capacitor. As a case study, the algorithm is applied to Tehran Regional Electric Company (TREC) to reduce the Short Circuit Level (SCL) of critical transmission substations. The transient stability studies are performed in the transmission network with the installed IPC to verify the effective current limiting characteristic of IPC.

This paper explores the relationship between the Producer Price Index (PPI) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI), in the sense of establishing whether the IPP can leads the CPI. Based on the methodology proposed by Martinez (2010), which is based on the Banerji's test (1999). Several studies for other countries and Colombia have found a matching relationship between the two price indicators. Eliminating the methodological differences of the two baskets ](homogenization of items and weights), at the most disaggregated possible level, it was found that the PPI anticipates the CPI, and depending on the analyzed group, the leadership of the IPP may, by one or even several months, anticipates the CPI. These findings are clearly useful as input to improve forecasting models of inflation and consumer decisions of the monetary authority.

Ethnopharmacological Relevence: Herbal drugs are gaining worldwide prominence due to their distinct advantages. Developing countries have started exploring the ethnopharmacological approach of drug discovery and have begun to file patents on herbal drugs. The expansion of R&D in Indian herbal research organizations and presence of manufacturing units at non-Indian sites is an indication of the capability to develop new products and processes. The present study attempts to identify innovations in the Indian herbal drug sector by analyzing the patenting trends in India, US and EU. Methodology: Based on key word and IPC based search at the IPO, USPTO, Esp@cenet and WIPO databases, patent applications and grant in herbal drugs by Indian applicants/assignees was collected for the last ten years (from 1st January 2001 to 31st October 2010). From this collection patents related to human therapeutic use only were selected. Analysis was performed to identify filing trends, major applicants/assignees, disease area and major plant species used for various treatments. Result: There is a gradual increase in patent filing through the years. In India, individual inventors have maximum applications and grants. CSIR, among research organizations and Hindustan Unilever, Avesthagen, Piramal Life Science, Sahajanand Biotech and Indus Biotech among the companies have the maximum granted patents in India, US and EU respectively. Diabetes, cancer and inflammatory disorders are the major areas for patenting in India and abroad. Recent patents are on new herbal formulations for treatment of AIDS, hepatitis, skin disorders and gastrointestinal disorders. Conclusion: A majority of the herbal patents applications and grants in India are with individual inventors. Claim analysis indicates that these patents include novel multi-herb compositions with synergistic action. Indian research organizations are more active than companies in filing for patents. CSIR has maximum numbers of applications not only in India but also in the US and EU. Patents by research organizations and herbal companies are on development of new processes for active compound isolation and standardization of such components in addition to new compositions for therapeutic use. Pharmaceutical companies such as Ranbaxy, Lupin and Panacea Biotec are increasingly patenting on herbal drugs. There is increased patenting activity related to diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, asthma and arthritis in India and abroad.

Low power has played an increasingly important role for embedded systems. To save power, lowering voltage and frequency is very straightforward and effective; therefore, dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) has become a prevalent lowpower technique. However, DVS makes no effect on power saving when the voltage reaches a lower bound. Fortunately, a technique called dynamic pipeline scaling (DPS) can overcome this limitation by switching pipeline modes at low-voltage level. Approaches proposed in previous work on DPS were based on hardware support. From viewpoint of compiler, little has been addressed on this issue. This paper presents a DPS optimization technique at compiler time to reduce power dissipation. The useful information of an application is exploited to devise an analytical model to assess the cost of enabling DPS mechanism. As a consequence, we can determine the switching timing between pipeline modes at compiler time without causing significant run-time overhead. The experimental result shows that our approach is effective in reducing energy consumption.

importancia para el diseño de las políticas de combate a la inflación. Combinando análisis de evolución de
precios (altas y bajas mensuales) con consideraciones institucionales es posible clasificar a los precios que
componen el IPC de acuerdo a su estructura de mercado. El estudio pone de manifiesto la existencia de bienes
y establecimientos con potencial para fijar sus precios por encima del que fijaría un mercado competitivo.
Esa situación podría tener un peso de hasta un tercio del índice de precios al consumo. Se destaca el caso del
rubros restaurante y hoteles y en servicios “personalizados” y/o por contratos de adhesión.
En segundo lugar, se analizó los márgenes precio costo variable y el grado de concentración para
algunos productos selecciónados. A diferencia de análisis anteriores, no se encuentran márgenes
importantes en los productos analizados. Asimismo, para otro conjunto de productos se analiza la
existencia de desvíos sistemáticos de los precios de las cadenas respecto al IPC. No se encuentra evidencia
general de este comportamiento, aunque en algunas cadenas individuales se encuentra evidencia de
aumentos de precios leve pero significativamente por encima de la tendencia general de precios.

Uruguay ha estado exenta de limitaciones, un fortalecimiento en la política de defensa de la competencia
puede tener efectos favorables en los comportamientos de los agentes privados, en particular respecto de
sus prácticas de fijación de precios.

Information Technology Act has introduced E-Governance by facilitating electronic filing of data and documents. Chapter III of Information Technology Act, 2000 has defined the emergence and existence of E-Governance. This paper presents a brief to understand the defined structure of E-Governance provided in IT Act 2000 with respect to different sections falling under IT Act.

RESUMO O exercício do desenvolvimento como um direito é plataforma política e normativa que vem sendo discutida há décadas em âmbito internacional. O irromper global de medidas anticorrupção não deixou de entrar em diálogo com esse debate. O resultado é o reconhecimento, em vários instrumentos internacionais, dos efeitos adversos da corrupção ao desenvolvimento, bem como do advento das abordagens dos direitos humanos à corrupção, que a caracterizam como prática que viola direitos humanos e obstaculiza o exercício do direito ao desenvolvimento. O presente estudo ressalta as relações entre desenvolvimento, direitos humanos e corrupção, esmiuçando esta correlação a partir da análise conjunta entre o IDH e o IPC. O contexto brasileiro de anos recentes serve como parâ-metro para investigar em que medida ações anticorrupção garantem melhorias nos índices de desenvolvimento e de efetivação dos direitos humanos e vice-versa. DEVELOPMENT, HUMAN RIGHTS AND CORRUPTION: CORRELATIONS BETWEEN HDI AND CPI IN THE BRAZILIAN CASE ABSTRACT The exercise of development as a right is a political and normative platform that has been discussed for decades in the international arena. The global eruption of anti-corruption measures did not fail to touch this debate. The result is the recognition by various international instruments of the adverse effects of corruption on development, and the emergence of human rights approaches to corruption that reaffirm it as a practice that violates human rights and undermines the exercise of the right to development. The present study high lights the relationship among development, human rights and corruption, breaking down this correlation based on the joint analysis between the HDI and the CPI. The recent Brazilian context is taken as a parameter to investigate to what extent anti-corruption actions can effectively guarantee better development and human rights effectiveness and vice versa.

Existe una marcada tendencia en la industria de comercializar procesadores con múltiples núcleos, conocidos como multi-cores. Se prevé que en el mediano plazo la cantidad de núcleos aumente significativamente hasta miles de núcleos por procesador [1] denominados many-cores. Esta tendencia requiere de sistemas operativos (OS) que puedan aprovechar éstas tecnologías y que adapten su funcionamiento de tal forma de que no se transformen en el cuello de botella de las aplicaciones que ejecutan sobre ellos como consecuencia de la contención de los recursos que comparten .
